THIS IS A SCAM!!! I just got off the phone with American Express and this number IS NOT theirs!  DO NOT give them your account number! Call the customer service number on the back of your card or on your statement and confirm first!  Just a warning!

It sound like a scam not the bad credit dept. I got the call and I don't even have a Amex card.

I DO NOT have an American Express card. The caller ID was 800 592 1160. Left long message to call this same number back for an important matter and even said it was not a telemarketer call. Voice  left detailed hours of operation.
I have no business with this company so I do not return calls like this that sound like scams!!

I currently have 19 voice messages saved on my answering machine from this number.  They claim to be American Express.  I never ever had an American Express card in my life!  The other day I was angered coming home to that message AGAIN.  I used call block and dialed the number.  They have what sounds almost like a legitimate automated message to which they ask for credit card number.  I dialed 0 and it wouldn't let me through.  So I dialed 12345678901234 ... The call was transferred to a man with heavy middle eastern accent.  I told him to stop calling me and we don't have American Express card.  He was puzzled and told me he doesn't know why they are calling me.  Then he had the nerve to ask me for my social security number to verify his records of why they would call me!  I yelled at him that I am onto this scam and that this will be addressed to the authorities.  He tried to say something back to me so I took a blow horn to the phone and hung up.  To this very day... I keep getting these calls on a daily basis.  I put them on my call block.

I just called their main number, and asked them if it was theirs, and they connected me to it.
They said they would take me off the calling list, and apparently they called by mistake they said which I don't believe.
I don't have an account either by the way with them.

They call me all the time, have received as many as six calls in a day.  They will call before 8am and after 8pm.  Sometimes they leave a message about an important business matter sometimes they don't.  More than anything else, it's annoying.   Oh well.

These scammers call me at least 40 times a day. This is harassment. I have never held an AE card nor will I.  The National Do Not Call List is one big JOKE on us, it's so pathetic. Someone really needs to figure it out.........

Amazed at how there are both comments that it's a fraudulent number and it's a legitimate number. They called me and left no message.

Please take me off this list.  I have never had an American Express account.

I too have had a ton of calls from the 800-592-1160, I've had 14 robo calls in 26 days in regards to "an urgent matter". I just called the 800-592-1160 and it is American Express collections dept. I spoke with operator "Sholy" Employee I.D. KMNAA18 and explained that I've never had an American Express card in my life and I've had the phone # they keep calling for over 10 years. I sternly explained that the next call that I get I will be sueing for harassment, Sholy stated that they are looking for another debtor and they are sorry for the troubling calls, he further said that he will "restrict" my phone number in their system to ensure that I don't get another call. I told him that I hope he's right because the next call I get from American Express will guarantee me filing a lawsuit for harassment and unlawful debt collection practices. If anybody is interesting in sueing American Express or any other company for unwanted calls then I would use this law firm. http://www.hate-robo-calls.com/from/8005921160 I'll come back and put in an update in a week or two from now to keep everyone posted and whether American Express calls me again. I am 100% serious about filing a lawsuit so we will see what happens.

Have received multiple calls asking me to call this number back.  It is NOT a legit Amex call.  It is a fraud.  I don't even have an Amex card anymore.

Two days in a row they called with their voicemail to call American Express for an urgent matter.    I waited for an operator and when she asked for my account number I told her I did not have one. She says oh but you're getting our messages   I can remove you. I told her to stop with the scam calls that we are not going to fall for it.   Be aware - fraud is everywhere!

Scam artists.. Do not provide any private information. This is not american express as he did not provide me with his manager.

I don't even have an Amex card or any association with Amex. These people call at least 3-4 times every day. Sometimes they leave a message,  most of the time they do not.  They called this morning at 7:45am which is way outside the times they are permitted to contact people. I'm SUPER annoyed with these scam artists.

This is a spoofed scam call from India.

I received a call from this number this morning.  I'm not sure what kind of scam it is but when I reverse searched with the app I pay monthly for it said American Expres, NOT American Express.  Notice the spelling difference?  I called the number and it wants you to enter your account number to continue the call.  The recording even says American Express.  Don't fall for it!
