Scam call claimed to be American Express

Just got a call from this number,  telling me that I am late on my AMEX card.....
"I don't even have an AMEX card"

Has called 9xs this month and it's only the 13th.Says he's from at+t  and that it's not a scam call but an important business matter .

Same experience here:  I just received a voicemail from this number, claiming to be Amex and asked to call them regarding an "urgent business matter".  I called the Amex # on back of my card, and it is not their number.

Getting repeated calls and messages for months now from this number to the point of harassment.  Tried blocking through the phone company, but the calls continue to come through.  Claim they are from American Express.  Called Amex customer service and no issue with my account.  Sounds like fraud to me, but they don't give up.

purported to be amex calling about "an urgent matter and not a telemarketing call".  considering I don't have an amex card/account, I know this a fraud and scammer.

Same message and phone number. I don't bother calling supposed card issuer.

got many calls from this number, I call back with no answer or machine say call 00 or 611. Bad!

They say it AMEX calling about my account. I have NO credit cards let alone an AMEX

I called them back. Again they said AMEX. I asked what she needed. She immediately asked for my social security number. I told her to not call again and if they did I would report it as a scam

Called at 8am PST and left message. Mechanical voice said they were American Express and this was "not a telemarketing sales call" and I needed to call the number back to discuss an "important matter" and to call back between certain hours. I do not have an American Express card and this sounded like a scam. It is a scam and I will report to the FTC.

I received a call from this number this morning. They said I had a past due Amex bill. He would not tell me the last 4 of the account # he was referring to, but he did give me the date and amount of the last payment. I hung up on him because it was suspicious...but I went to verify that my account was fine and current...it was...but when I checked my father's Amex (same name as mine/I pay it for him sometimes) it was actually past due and he had given me the correct last payment amount/date.

Based on the above and the comments I have read, I still think this might be a scam but they somehow got access to some non-critical information about the account. It was nice to know that I needed to pay the bill for my father, so it was helpful, but I wouldn't risk giving him any information!

I just called AMEX and it really was them. I'd suggest calling them back and verifying. If you don't have an account then it's obviously a SCAM they can spoof the Amex number.

Just received call but did not answer since I do not have an account. Number comes up American Expres. Love this site to check numbers. Every day I am blocking. Crazy!!

Reading this blog, only one person mentioned "call block." This telephone feature blocks all types of unwanted calls. Since I initiated the feature, (you can also download an app called TrueCaller-it works wonders) I have blocked at least 75 numbers. All I get is 1 ring. It is music to my ears, knowing that I just outsmarted another jerk.

Today this morning i received a call from this number calling from bank of america says u didnt pay ur payment 127 dollar can iask ur date of
birth can u pay right now then u dont have to pay late fee, i refuse to pay on phone i am still 😲they had my others bank accounts number too

They call me every day.  I cant get rid of them.
