I just got two calls 9:26 and 9:46PM from this number. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave messages. I thought there were telemarketing laws that restricted these calls after 9pm!!

2 calls from this number within about 20 minutes of each other to my husband's work cell phone number with Verizon. Last call at 10:44pm. Not sure if they left any messages but husband is asleep, he awakens at 4:45am so will have him check tomorrow. If a message was left and they say it's from Verizon, I'm sure he'll call to let Verizon know.

As I previously posted, they called at 10:40pm Eastern, and just called again 20 minutes later (11:00pm). This time the left a voice mail, spelled out www.vzw153.com twice and then told me to log in to claim my $183.

I  have a magic jack I seldom use but I use to use it a lot.  Now I only use it as a 'dialer' to check out numbers I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT CALLER ID OF MINE lifted from me.  Many of you have verizon but some don't.  I have a Verizon home phone that costs $15 a month plus sales tax, that rings in a string with a google voice voip # I pay nothing for. One main number forwards automatically to four other numbers. My Verizon home phone, which is just a cell phone with the text messages ripped from it, sold cheaply through Wal-Mart's Straight Talk, works with an ethernet connection into my internet router.  Four other numbers ring from the single #.  I almost never use the $15 verizon home phone.  Except when the internet goes down and I feel I need to talk to my IP by phone. Then I use the verizon 'home phone.'  Many people have these and other phones that can be turned off an on by simply pulling the plug on their power sources and letting their batteries drain.  Verizon has an INTEREST in knowing about the usage of those phones because their owners are paying customers.  Verizon makes these calls periodically to determine whether these SELECT VERIZON LINES ARE STILL OPERATING.  How do I know this?  Because Magic Jack made the same for nothings calls just to see if the phones were powered, when I actively used that service.  Also, robocallers and by phone advertisers troll all of the 9999 numbers and their variations, when those numbers are NOT PUBLISHED to see if the phones themselves are in operation.  The object in all cases, although their are other possible reasons to phone, is to find out whether the phone is powered and operating!  The calls you're all getting a just a survey of select phone number usage, sometimes for something as simple as building a call-out list of seldom visited numbers.

Mine and my husband's cell rang at the same time from this number. I answered and got the recording. He didn't answer and got the second call 20 mins later. Scam for sure. Not Verizon customers and illegal to call after 9pm. We got 3 calls after 10pm.

Don't pick up 800 numbers you don't know of.  Don't call them back either.  They just want to collect your 'responsive' caller ID.  Instead, run the number on google and find a forum like this one to give an idea of what the caller is up to.  You don't want 'junk phoners' using your responses to build a phone database for any purpose.  It's not just the NSA, the Phone companies, Google, yahoo, Amazon and other websites that are trolling for your personal info.  The possibilities of who these people can be are endless, and you don't want to be part of their string.  The way I use my phone I almost NEVER get a call from a troll, only from people I have selectively chosen to call me.

Got the cell 20 minutes apart and they left a message the second time.....some recorded message telling me to go to this website and claim $183.

Just called verizon and she told me they are aware of it, it's a scam and they make you log on, and the website looks like Verizon too. Once you logon, they get all your account info and bam, they have your personal Info!!

So do not log on !!! It's a SCAM!!!!!

I got these same calls last night with the same message.  Came in at 9:50p and 10:10p, which is well after the 9pm allowed time for telemarketing calls.  Am going to attempt to report this pos company to the FTC and hopefully get them heavily fined and arrested for breaking time laws and also attempting to commit fraud.

I was able to file an FTC complaint through the nat'l do not call registry.  You can file a complaint regardless of whether or not you are on the do not call list due to it being an automated message and being after the legal telemarketing hours.  Please do the same, the more complaints the quicker the liklihood of fines and arrests being made to these scammers.  Do a search for the FTC, file a telemarketing claim and the site will redirect you to the do not call site to file the complaint.

Got call from this number at 10:22 pm last night and again at 10:42 pm .. I didn't answer I never answer numbers I do not know .. Tried to call it back this morning and said it was a number that my provider didn't allow or that was out of service ... I see comments others have written about Verizon or its subsidiaries , well I don't have Verizon or anything associated with Verizon .. I did catch the end piece of story on news last night about a scam I am thinking this is what they were referring to!! I will report this number today to my cell phone provider .. These scams are annoying and out of control and to call after 8 pm is not acceptable definitely not after 10 pm .. All these do not call lists have accomplished nothing .. Only thing to do is ignore the calls !! I see some of u speaking of apps to block numbers and such could someone please give me some info I have an iPhone 4S .. Thank you !! Have a fabulous Friday !!

They called me at 7:45 AM and again at 8 AM!! The voice said I can collect $193 at some wonky Verizon site. I have Sprint and have never worked with Verizon in any way. They called with some other number not too long ago with a different amount... Sounds like a scam to me!

They called me telling me to go to VZW193 to get $193 off my Verizon bill.  I called Verizon and they told me it's a scam and not to go to the website and enter personal information.
