we are - DaveI pressed redial (sometimes technology works to our advantage!) about 50 times in a row. Every time someone answered, I just turned up the TV and let them listen to some worthless commercial. I figure if they want to waste my time, the least I can do is return the favor. Fight fire with fire.

- tired of these callsI have been receiving calls from this number sporadically for a few weeks. I am usually at work and cannot answer my cell phone, but I don't answer calls from toll free numbers or numbers I do not recognize. They don't leave a message...so it can't be important. I tried to call back from a land line, but the lady who answered would not tell me what the call was about except the name of her company is First Point Resources. I told her the cell phone they have been calling belongs to my daughter who is a minor, and she still would not give any information stating she could not give any personal information unless she was speaking with my daughter (like I'm gonna put my daughter on the phone with her...right).l How do I stop these harrassing calls?

- MichaelI am still wondering how they got my number. I don't owe anyone anything and pay ALL my bills on time. It is very difficult to talk with an answering machine to get some kind of response. The voice mail said the company was First Point Resources Inc. Not real sure if this is a REAL company or some one posing to be a company.

- annoyed replies to taraSame thing happened to me. I told her I will not confirm anything until I know what this is about and she gave me attitude!
- Holly| 1 replyKeep calling, cell phone, automated voice says this is an important business matter, please contact 866-869-8608 if I am not the person they are looking for but call 877-412-4706 if I am so we can discuss the matter. Ridiculous... I don't owe anyone any money that has not been paid. So I am not calling them back and their number will be blocked... I am tired of them wasting my time when there is no way they are calling for something legit...

- Ck| 1 replyJust submit complaint to http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/
The consumer financial protection bureau will investigate it to let you know whether it is in fact an outstanding debt that you're unaware of or if it is just a scam.
Let big brother do it's job to protect us consumers!- Caller: FirstPoint Pay
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to CkWell you are completely misinformed if you think that the CFPB investigates whether you owe money or not. That is not their job, their job is to handle consumer complaints about debt collectors and the practices they use to collect those debts (i.e.: compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act).
It is the debt collectors responsibility to follow these laws which state that they must send you a letter within 5 days of first contact stating who they are, a physical address, the amount of the debt, and the creditor they are collecting for. This letter must also contain your right to dispute the debt in writing within a thirty day time limit. This means that when you send that dispute letter out, the debt collection agency is now responsible for verifying the debt and for having the creditor mail you said verification
Please do not post your own version of the facts in that it may actually confuse and misinform people. Please also do your research and completely read and understand both your rights in these matters and what these respective government agencies do. You will become both knowledgeable and a better person by doing so. - Kelly HayesCalled on July 2 saying they were trying to collect a debt. My bills are all paid. Left a lengthy message on my voicemail.

- What?!Anyone know who these people are? I got a call at work and I do not owe anyone anything that I'm not already making monthly payments on.
- Joseph Cummings| 1 replyThey called me about 4 times over the course of a week & just hung up. Today I picked up & there was an actual person on the line & asked for me by name. I responded yes & asked what they wanted. They refused to tell me & proceeded to ask if they could record the call. I told them only if they told me what they were calling about. They still refused. They kept pressuring me & I finally said "Okay, but would hang up on them if this seemed like a scam". I had my suspicions, but I really wanted to know what this was all about. Immediately, they began asking is such & such my address, is such & such your date of birth. I just said "maybe" & asked why they were calling. They still wouldn't tell me. I then asked if this was some sort of phishing scam & they responded "No, we are a legitimate company. I then told them I was done & said "Goodbye." A legitimate company does not act like this. Is this even legal? Where do I report this?

- WhoIsThisI have had a few calls from this number over the last two months. I never answered since I didn't recognize it (I store valid 800#s in my contacts). Today I finally answered and they asked to speak to "MYNAME". When I confirmed I was "MYNAME", she asked me to provide last four digits of my social, my mailing address and birth date. I asked who she was with and she said First Point. I told her I was not familiar with FP and I would not provide any information. She asked if she stated my last four digits of my social would I confirm my address and birth date. I said yes and she provided four digits that were NOT my social. Had I just provided that info since they had my name and phone number, they would have had enough information to hack into many of my online accounts. WHEN SOMEONE CALLS INSIST ON THEM PROVIDING YOU ENOUGH INFORMATION ABOUT YOU THAT YOU KNOW THEY ARE LEGIT!!
