It wasn't a call but I got a brochure from something called "Advanced Financial Services" promising me up to $271,050 in a guaranteed 6% fixed rate loan with the phone #1-800-644-3327. It sounds too good to be true, so I thought I'd post this note. Also, the first name of the "President" of the company doesn't matvh the first name of the President odf an identically named company in R. I. The mailing from this AFS bears a zip code in IL, however. Also, the BBB has a record of the R. I. AFS but not any in IL. Careful! I'm calling the FTC tomorrow to inquire about it.

Did you get more info on them. I got very same offer, and I'm looking around to find out what's behind it.

Please make known the outcome of your research into AFS of Rhode Island! I have been considering their offer and have been doing a lot of internet research.  I can only find inquiries into the company, BUT NEVER ANY CONCLUSIVE INFORMATION!  Please let us know what you found.

I also have received a unsolicited mailing from AFS – Advanced Financial Services, Inc. Phone # 800 644-3327.  Is this company on the level? I just started my on-line search.  Tried the BBB and the address for the AFS that sent the unsolicited mailing doesn’t sync with any of the information on BBB’s web site. AFS’s web site is http://www.myafsloan.com Any help in determining if these people are on the level would be greatly appreciated.

I recived the same letter promising the same, I bought a house in Dec. of 2007,Got a little indebt,since then,They where asking 75000.00, I paid 56000.00, Now the AFS loan say,s it worth 83500.00,The apprasil on house is 400.00 up front paid to the loan officer,My state county accy office say,s tax 56600.00 worth, How? All I know is I need help to getting out of debt 16000.00 to pay off everything And 5000.00 to get work on the house. The numbers don't add up.The first time I talked to my loan officer every thing we talked about was not on the work sheet thay was to be paid off,the next time he said I needed to get the apprasil done first then he would know if I could get all of my debts paid off????  If everything gose like he said all debts paid monthly house payment from 475.00 to 620.00 not to bad too start over!!??? I,m not sure still,what do u think?

Never give anyone your date of birth and SS number without having proof they are who they say they are.. Your EIN or SS# with DOB will allow them to get credit in your name which you will have to pay back.

By business an accredited BBB Member and the rules are, you can not use their logos without their approval which includes but not limited to: Full name and business name and contact person and phone numbers with complete business address.

My letter came from with no return address and the BBB has never heard of them from any of the information on the mailing.

This envlope has no return address and no business name. The 800 number is one of the fly by night type that you can rent for 50 dollars per month from Phone People dot com.

This is a scam stay away..

Here is is Nov, 09 and I got the same letter.  It seems to me that folks would soon learn.. Deal ONLY with local mortgage companies or banks.. Do NOT deal with a Broker, even if they claim they are also a bank... They will chage you fees that are not normal.  I sell real estate and am appalled at what I see going on.  Make sure you talk to a direct endorsement lender in your own area.  And also remember, if you are trying to get a loan, you can NOT get a loan unless your credit score is 620, no matter what these Broker's tell you.  Just my two cents worth, take it or leave it.

I also received this letter, however, it lists a different company name Embrace Home loans.  I was able to find it in the internet, and it appears to be a well established company-- the phone number they list is no the same.  Under the refi tab, there is a note that says that AFS is now Embrace home loans.  I thought about contacting this company via e-mail and see if they can verify that the letter received is real.

I was going to do the same. I called the number on the flyer and I got suspicious because of the questions they were asking over the phone i.e. ss#, date of birth, etc. so I told the rep I was going to check them out before I give them any more information. The phone number on the flyer does not match the website number listed. It looks like a well established company but I think I am going to check the address and show up in person. I live in CT so it is not too far for me to swing by this weekend. I'll keep you posted.

got the same unsolicited letter today offer 5 percent but they are called FHA and this should give you all a big clue here - the are a "direct lender", approved Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lender [running the opposite direction right now],

when the rest of the country is totally screwed up, and money and jobs are short in supply how and why can Embrace Home Loans offer low rates.    I would have to look very hard at things, and check before I would offer any information.  would hate to wake up one day and find that someone else owned everything I have.

I received the same mailing today and got online to research it. It's odd that nowhere in this literature do they give a company name!  That's just one of many red flags.  You know what they say: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Nobody and I mean nobody is going to give you a loan "up to $271,050 without an application fee or other fees upfront----how would they make THEIR money???
The Internet sucks a lot of the time, but it's great to research scams like this!

don't do it I also got the same brochure in the mail but they changed their name to embrace home loans.  BBB has no record of them but they have the same number as the AFS you talk about 800-644-3327. it is a shame though I really could've used some real help on my mortgage and other debts.
