- DaveManEnvironment California keeps calling me from this number. I wish they'd leave a voicemail. I was giving every month by credit card, but now my CC# changed and so their computer is relentless in calling me (trying to get me to update my CC#).
Gosh, I should just answer it, huh.- Caller: Enviornment California (afaik)
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- DaveMan replies to victoriaThanks for the helpful information, Victoria. Why don't organizations like this ever leave a message? I don't pick up calls from people I don't recognize, but I begin to get annoyed after the 5th call without a message. If they said, at least, "Mr. Xxxx this is organization Xxx calling. We'll try back another day" then I'd know to pick it up the next time. (And not have to search their number on the internet!)
- RebaThis number has called me almost every day for at least 2 weeks now. I have never picked up because they haven't left a message and because it's an 800 number. It's generally the same time every day. 5 or 6 O'clock.
I did answer what could have been the same number a few months ago, however, and they thanked me for donating to their environmental group based out of Chicago and wanted me to donate some more. They were REALLY pushy. I said I was broke at the moment and they kept prying: "Well how much can ya give?" type thing. Honestly, I don't even recall ever donating to their group/cause. Did they expect me to give them my credit card number over the phone? I hope no one has fallen for it. - Lew replies to Annoyed at YOU!!| 1 replyNo, they are not being an a*shole for not picking up an unsolicited call from an 800 number. If you are calling me and I don't know your number I will never pick up. If it is at all relevant or important, you WILL leave me a message and leave a call back number or other way to follow up. And the message will be left by a person, not a machine. And if I call back and get an auto attendant, you can bet I will hangup.
- bruce sI am sick of worthy causes adopting unworthy fund raising techniques. Why does a past act of generosity on my part give them the right to bug me repeatedly at home? Whey don't they at least have the courtesy to provide identification text on the CID? Are they ashamed of who they are (not good) or trying to trick me into answering (even worse)? Why do they so rarely identify themselves when I do pick up the phone?
- KFKWhy are these people calling when I'm on Oregon's no call list and have done all the opting in. I was a member of Ospirg about 7 years ago, which is probably where they got my number.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- cbeeI received a call from this number 12 times during July. It's among the numerous other calls I get for the sin of donating to good causes. I'm letting the NPOs I support that I'm fed up with my telephone number being sold or otherwise made available for what I consider to be home invasion. I hope you do, too.
- stoatIt does matter HOW people act, no matter how worthy the cause. A recent example: We had to replace ID badges at work. The contract company used such crummy (scored 97% as spam, YELLING SUBJECT, 3 different email addresses -- none of which matched the sending address, etc) emails that the institutional firewall blocked the emails telling us our badges were ready.
I gave Environmental Action money twice (my mistake) and told them I don't do anything without reading it first but the calls persist. If someone wants my actual, human, irreplaceable time they can treat me like a human whose time and money they want and leave a $%#! message.- Caller: Environmental Action

- draekI have received two calls from this number today... at least 20+ times over the last couple of months. Every time i pick up, they hang up or I hear static. The calls have been anywhere from 5 am to 11:30pm at night. I have also asked to be put on the do-not call list... and i stillr receive calls. If it is for environmental rights, which I support whole-heartedly, this is ridiculous and does nothing to further the cause at all. I am ashamed and feel cheated that the hard earned money that I donate goes to pay people to repeatedly call people to the point of insanity.
- MegThey have called everyday for the past two weeks. If I find out who it is I am going after them with a lawsuit. I am on the National do not call list.
- crystalthey won't stop calling. i've asked them to stop. i get 2-3 calls a day from this environment group. sometimes they don't even say hello when you answer. almost like a prank call because the system is bad. not to mention they call at ANY hour of the day.
- Caller: environment california
- suznkThis number has called me three days in a row in the evening. Who is it? I don't answer unknown numbers.
- Caller: ??
- Helen10 times in the last week! i've never picked up, but it is extremely irritating.
- foitCalls me 7+ times a day, very annoying, doesnt leave a message, and I called it back and got a recording for some non-profit organization about parks in Colorado springs
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- jThey've called me maybe 6 times in the past month and I've missed the calls for one reason or another. Tonight I picked up. They asked for me, and I (politely) asked who was calling and they hung up! I'll be irked if they call back.
- ex-worker for political poll & survey co replies to KML| 1 replyhow are they supposed to know when your not eating dinner, some people make 6 their dinner time some people make 4,5,7, 8,9 etc. their dinner time
you get my drift and you people call it harassment, but do any of you people even know what harassment means.
by definition harassment means: subject to AGGRESSIVE pressure or intimidation
if asking for your opinion, or your help supporting someone else is harassment then what the hell has this world come to.
and btw election polls and surveys are how the candidates running for pres, commissioner, governor, etc know what you self-fish ignorant people want in a candidate.
just tell them politely "your not interested" or "to take you off their calling list"
dont let your answering machine catch the call because it will automatically call you again.
the people working for these companies are just like you and i just trying to get by during these horrid economic times.
FYI you should treat other as you would want to be treated, if these people came up to your door asking for your support, you would not scream at them, because thats rude, so dont be an ass on the phone just because you cant see them doesnt mean they aren't normal people like you and i
thank you and you all suck - AD800-672-3012 called my cell phone:

I don't pick up my cell phone unless I know who is calling. Caller ID does not tell me who this is. No voicemail left. - KaT1315 replies to ex-worker for political poll & survey coIf these people would like donations then they should be having real people call instead of using a computer system. they are using a loop-hole in the law (no-call lists and not calling cell phones) by using a computer to fish for phone numbers and having a pre-recorded message talk when you answer and only allowing you to talk to a real person if you agree to donate. I don't live in Cali and I'm not going to donate to them. I give to the company for my state.
As for the definition of harassment, yes the standard dictionary is:subject to AGGRESSIVE pressure or intimidation. However, from a legal stand point the definition is: harassment (either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands.
while this group is not including threats or demands, they do call continuously and for most people these calls are unwanted thus making it harassment. (don't argue legal definitions without a legal dictionary)
I have no issue with the people that work for these companies because a job is a job, but these companies need to work within the law and stop using this loop hole. I have asked the people from this company to take me off of their lists and i still receive these calls and I am nice when i answer the phone, but I have an extensive list of the times that I have been called and do plan on reporting them for illegal practices which I know sounds harsh to do to an environmental agency, but I do it with all the 800 numbers that I get calls from and don't take me off the list and if they didn't want someone to do this then they should have obeyed the law.
Now you are telling people to be respectful and yet you berate them and tell them they suck. where is the respect in that. Most people on here want to vent because who really wants to be called at midnight or one am just to listen to a machine ask them for money especially in these hard economic times. - KathyI've received two calls, both after 9 pm, when I'm usually in bed. My number is listed on Colorado's No-Call List. I didn't answer the call and no message was left. I do not want to receive calls from soliciters, people conducting marketing or public interest "surveys," investors, or social activist groups. How can I stop getting these types of calls?
- MadameRI've been getting these calls in the evenings as well. I have not answered. Tonight's call was early at 8pm rather than 9. I just emailed Environment California (mentioned by another person on this page) to let them know, respectfully, that they're annoying potential contributors by their choice of methods. I wonder if it will help.
