- newfiegirl replies to LewI do not pick up unidentified numbers (even local ones), both toll-free and unknown caller. Have trained the rest of my family to do the same. As you say, if it is important, they can leave a voicemail. Of course, going into the political foray for 2012, politicians do leave msgs.; I've had them from Bill and Hillary Clinton among others during past campaigns.
- DaveThis is Penn Environment in Pennsylvania. I used to be a member, but got sick of their harassment. I just set my phone to block them.
- Caller: Penn Environment
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- AmandaOne of two irritating calls I've received in the past few days, this number is also for Environment Illinois. When I had gotten a new banking card, they called day and night to contact me, and at that time I never answered 800 calls.
When I had finally answered I gave them the new information but was angry, because they had asked to take the past two months donations that I had "avoided".
I am not sure if in Illinois they discontinue after a year your donations, because they have been asking me to increase me donations at least once a month. They usually go: "Well we really do appreciate your donation, we sincerely do, however if you donated more you would better help our cause." I believe in reaching out to people and being a part of the solution, but why do I have to be doing this financially?- Caller: Environment Illinois

- KrisThis unknown number has called every evening for past three nights without leaving a message. I have not answered it any of the times so am not sure who is calling or why.
- A WallThis is actually my company phone. Please do not contact me on this line. Thank you.
- Caller: no message
- JacksonThese people call on behalf of a variety of Environmental Groups. Numerous calls to me but never answered. If you call the number back, you will get a recording but you can hit #1, enter your phone number and they say they will remove your number from their list within 3 business days. Will see if it works or not but worth a try. So annoying to not have them leave a message
- Caller: Environmental group

- no thanksI get calls at night, every day, and also other times of day. They have been calling for about three weeks now. I have to keep my phone off at night. It's 8:45pm when they called tonight. Not cool.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- annoyedinColoradoI continue to receive calls at the same time of the evening from this number. They do not care enough to leave a message.
- Caller: Unknown
- MichaelNow that I read some of these comments, I have to agree it was some environmental non-profit or similar group, waiting outside the grocery store and noticing how cool I looked, so I might give them some cash, which I did as I sort of agree with what he was showing me. Must have put my actual number on there... so my own fault but they do like to call after 6pm on the cell, sucks.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- CarolThey call at least once every single night. Sometimes "Public Interest"comes up, sometimes 'unknown'. I am fine with an organization I have supported in the past calling me every few months, but every night? If they think this is a good way to solicit donations, I think that I will inform every charity they work for that I will never contribute to them again.
- Caller: Public Interest

- hate unsolicited calls replies to DianaCall back the number and choose the option to be removed.
- PS| 1 replyI do not want them to call me anymore. This has been going on for months now. Please tell them to stop calling me!!!
- Caller: Calprig
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Anon replies to PSHere's something interesting: I received a mysterious recorded saying that I need to call back soon, that the matter was urgent. The number that I was given apparently was from some company that claims to be a debt recovery firm. I don't have any outstanding debts, so that's rather suspicious. Then I did *69, and what came back was the number under discussion here, which claims to be an environmental group. Even more suspicious.
- et replies to DianaDoes anyone know how to get them to stop calling?
I gave Environment Colorado $10 about 18 months ago, and I have literally been receiving calls every night since last December. Answered once and the lady was simply rude and pushy. I will never give to them again, since they apparently have enough resources to badger people for long periods of time. Disappointing. I would hope my donation went to something meaningful, not annoying. - emilyPlease remove my number from your telemarketing list

- Steve| 1 replyI worked for a related group for a year. The caller shifts end at 9PM so they won't call later than that unless you have a cell phone and are in a time zone they're not expecting. They won't leave a message as they send physical mail and the point of calling is to speak with you.
To get off the list you need to take the call and tell them that. If you aren't happy with the response you get, call the office (not the phone canvass staff) of Environment [state] or whatever group they were calling on behalf of (Human Rights campaign, Environmental Action, etc.).
They don't just call members of the general public so to get on the list you had to donate or express interest at some point (or inherited the phone # of someone who did!)
These are good folks so be nice : )
