Please prove that this debt collector is calling numbers that are not outdated?

 I looked at all of the other posts and I do not know what this company is trying to pull with all of them but I just got a call from a female at this number saying that they were from a debt collector and that I should call them back. Definite scam!!!

CALLER ID "EASTERN ACCOUNT".  WHEN I ANSWERED THEY HUNG UP.

Claims to be a bill collector. I don't owe any bills.

Just because you cherish and expect calls from collection agencies doesn't mean the rest of us want these calls.   Get your finances in order and then perhaps you won't falsely believe that the caller is legit.   The caller is running a scam and you are the once-a-minute sucker that falls for it...  just like PT Barnum said.

Received a call this morning on my cell phone from this number but didn't answer since I didn't recognize it.  The accented male caller (British/Australian/New Zealand) left a voicemail and identified himself from Eastern Account Systems, a debt collector.  They appear to be a legitimate collection agency but have over 100 complaints filed with the BBB of Connecticut over the past three years.  Not sure why they would contact me.  I don't owe anyone.  I don't provide my cell phone number to creditors and I haven't received any calls on my home phone.  My past experiences with debt collectors have been them trying to contact family members (a cousin with the exact same name, a nephew with the same last name) through me.  It might be the case here because the caller didn't address me by name in the voicemail, which he would have if he really was pursuing me for debt collections.

called my daughters (minor) phone...  Pretty sure she has no debts to be collected.
Then called my phone..  Sounds like someone is fishing.....

Collection call from Eastern Financial. Collectors for Time Warner Cable. I had terrible service with time warner and made many complaints with them. I told them our phone service was out more then it was on and they should write off the balance since I had such bad service.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Called at 10:44am today when I picked it up a few clicks and nothing. I might talk to them if they call and ask, but not like this.

Got a call from them today (800-750-6343) when I picked it up it rand as if I was calling some one, after a few seconds it went dead. If they really want to talk to someone use a human and stay on the line. Just silly the way business is done in todays world.

I received that call myself from +1-800-750-6343 and did not leave a detailed enough message but to return the call and so I did. Come to find out it was about my cable bill of 213 dollars from 2 to 3 years ago. With charter cable services. that I need to pay it and I can make it and small payments of $50 and so on and so forth until its paid off or this will go towards credit and having bad credit so I will be calling her back again to get more details on what I need to do, so I can fix that chances for this goes on my credit make my credit score go bad.

Greg posted here in 2008 so i doubt he will see your post.  If it is a a legitimate debt collector it is already on your credit report.  Paying them at that point may reset the statute of limitations.  Also, you have no idea who these people really are.  What you need to do is go to the last page of this thread and read the informative posts there, using the information and the links to learn how not to become a victim of a crime.

They left a voicemail saying I needed to call them about debt collection.  I have perfect credit and don't owe anybody.  Not sure why they called me.

One guy called that they are debt collectors on behalf of Time Warner and I owe them. I never have had Time Warner account. He gave me the Time Warner phone number to clarify with them directly.....

They called for my father, and did not ellaborate. Comcast is not even in our area and we have never had it. We have Cox. WTF?

My family has our finances in order, so how dare you. Also, we have never had Comcast or Time Warner, and it is not in our area! We have Cox Cable and pay it on time every month with no problem. Sounds like a scam to me. So not everyone on here actually owes these "debts."

Sounded like a recording that said they are a debt collector and to return a call to1800-750-6343. My credit report is clean.I pay my bills on time every month. I don't owe anything that's over 30 days old.If it's legitimate I expect to get something detailed in writing in the mail.

On my answering machine...Said I had an outstanding debt and to call them.  I don't have any and if I did I'm sure I would have been notified before it went to a collector.
