This is Chase Card Services calling for collections on a Sears card or Sears Mastercard. If you don't want them to call you then pay your bill. I don't understand how people can get mad at them for calling if you aren't paying your credit card bill. If you don't have the money to pay the bill then don't put charges to the credit card! This is irresponsible, you should never buy something you can't pay for! And if you are in an unpredictable circumstance this is NOT the credit card companies fault.

Not everyone needs to "man up and pay" like some posters suggest. They have been calling for my brother who hasn't lived here for a while and we have no idea how to get a hold of him because he doesn't have a phone. We have told them that and they always want to leave numbers and try and track him down. His debt is not my problem and we tell them not to call and they still do. It's getting ridiculous!

I too did not appreciate not being left a message.  I honestly forgot to make a payment for the total bill of forty dollars.  When I finally did answer the phone she said that I was two months late.  I'm sorry, but I ALWAYS keep my accounts up to date an honestly forgot because I burried the statement on my desk.  I could understand if I was five or six months late, but I was only two months late.  I will not be using my Sears Card anymore.  I made the payment as soon as I got off the phone with her then cut up the card.

The husband who answered the phone... replies to Jero
    ***To Jero:

Thanks for trying to educate people around. I sincerely give you 5 stars, cause you're right on all counts. But you're not going to get to the angry man (or woman) that has been aggressed.Unfortunately.

I would like all the collectors to do as you do: LEAVE A COMPLETE MESSAGE.

Unfortunately, this is no common practice, and yes, as a sometime-late-payer-cause-i-have-my-head-in-the-clouds-(so-is-my-wife), I sometimes receive those harrassing, repeated, rude collector's calls... And though they are justified to ask for payment, their way of dealing with their customers like cattle is UN-FOR-GI-VA-BLE. Of course, statistics probably show them that this behavior increases payment rates, so, why not do it?  mmm...

I simply and completely disagree. And they're simply going to lose me, like did Canadian Tire (MasterCard) and Rogers, for using such behavior.

Don't undercategorize me: I'm pretty much educated, and a darn good payer (and consumer!). Leaving their service is alas my only way to signal my unsatisfaction without ruining my precious time talking with a dope or his/her supervisor, or any ombudsman that is supposed to protect consumers against abuse (who defends its employer most of the time).

Even writing this is a waste of my precious time, I concede... But I felt it had to be said.

Nice day to all! And God, I luv 800notes!

I got a message left on my home number in the afternoon.  The lady, "Josette", got my first and last name inverted.  She left her short message twice, almost as if she didn't trust the el-cheapo VoIP phone lines she was using.
When I called, they had no record of my phone number (but THEY used it).  The man didn't seem to be able to search by name.  I told them I had no Sears credit-card at all.  Is someone impersonating me?  "Chase" are silly twits.

Same problem here, it's chase calling for my Best Buy account... yeah, i'm 2 days late.

I figure its ok for them to use a stupid computer scheme to track down people who don't pay.

What they did'nt realize is that via their website : bestbuycard.ca, i can change my profile phone number !!! No more calls, Suckers !!!

They call every 40-90 minutes from 9am to about 10pm.  Thankfully I'm subscribed to Bell Call Privacy so they're on my blocked list now.

Most creditors will leave one message that starts with "This is not a solicitation" after identifying the company, and gives a name and callback number, and then they won't bother you again unless you fail to pay them in the next 2-3 days.  If I get one of those voicemails then I know I must have missed a payment and I look to fix it, and once I've paid it we're done.   Chase is a whole 'nother beast.  Even if I paid it on time, even appeared on time on my bill (no late fee), they still felt a need to ring my house hourly from 9am-10pm for a week after I paid it.  For this reason I have blocked their number.  They can leave the one message like everybody else does.

If you subscribe to Call Privacy and are a Chase/Sears customer, add their number to your list now.  Unless you like to get a call every hour....  And if you're looking to apply for a Chase credit card (be it Sears, Best Buy), fuggetaboutit....

I do not have a Sear CC  or have anything to do with Chase but they started harassing me today asking personal information.  When I called this back the woman said she was in the Philippines and it was Chase.  She said she had caller caller ID but still wanted the number I was calling from.
Sounds like a scam for identity theft !!!!

    Brent replies to chuck
Chuck:  Call Prvacy is a Smart Touch feature available from Bell Canada.  It is also called Call Screen.  If you look in the front of your phone book, there is a listing of the Smart Touch features available from Bell.  It explains what Call Privacy is there.

I have it at home, and it blocks ALL calls where there is NO number shown on the call display.  So someone who tries to call you and blocks their number from showing doesn't get through unless they release their number to be shown.  Call Privacy allows you to block up to 10 or 12 (can't remember which) numbers from even getting through at all.  The only thing it doesn't block are some US numbers where they have spoofed the display anyway.

    Hi young women of Montreal

There is a handsome technician in communication (the one who installs your new telephone line at home). He is ~6 foot tall. He is a rapist and a serial killer. His mother is French Canadian and his father is Greek. If you receive calls without any speaking, be careful, you are his next victim. When he will ring at your door, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. Do not use your phone; you will not have the line because he might disconnect it. Use your cell.

    maman-lise momlise3@hotmail.com

P.S. Those calls have nothing to do with your credit or telemarketing. He stands in communications room, connects his phone and uses the line 800-799-4424 or others lines in Montreal. No policeman can catch him.
