[***] called my cell phone and knew it was a cell phone, asked me to take a political survey, I said NO, not interested and take me off the calling list. The sub-human scum at the other end just hung up ticked off at my request, I doubt they will take me off the list. I get these stupid calls on my house phone nonstop, now I can't wait to start getting them on my cell phone... The do not call registry is WORTHLESS.

First of all, 'political' calls are exempt from the Do No Call list (the politicians had to take of themselves when they created this DNC law).

The best way to have your number  removed is to waste their time.   Many (most) of the 'political' calls are a ruse to get by the DNC rules... they usually want to either sell you something, or get personal information (credit card, social security number, etc.)   The best way to get your number blacklisted is to bait them and waste their time.   Tell them that you don't vote, but that you live with your mother, boy/girlfriend, etc. who ALWAYS votes and is very active politically.   Act like you're talking to that person, then tell the caller that as soon as your relative take the laundry out of the dryer/food out of the oven/etc. they will be more than willing to participate in the survey.   Lay the phone down and go about your life.

Without exception, I have yet to received another phone call from anyone that I have done this to.

By800 service the way, pressing '1' isn't always a good idea... some telemarketers will flag your number as being 'live' (having a human at the number) and your number will be targeted/sold for even more calling.

One final thought... In most (all?) states, it is illegal for a law enforcement officer to call and 'officially' tell/ask you to vote a certain way.   If you receive such a call, you should contact both your state Attorney General and the new media.

Something to keep in mind about all these continuing bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and so called charity pickups despite asking them to remove you from their list:

Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas.  When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc.  I have heard from sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc.  I’ve even heard that the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages.  Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment.

Also realize this when you call a companies’ customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that’s been hired by the company.  One time while on a call with our bank’s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies’ customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse – you may be talking to an operator that’s drunk or on something.  After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank’s call center, we gave up and closed the account.

With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can’t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it’s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood.  Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered.  These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security, install security systems/monitoring, upgrade lighting etc.  Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into.  Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town.

One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there’s no laws requiring this – there should be.  Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.

I my efforts the past several years to try and get something done, I am most struck by the fact that there’s no real help, everyone is more worried about being sued than dealing with the obvious problem - you are on your own....

Third question in, I says, "you're working for Romney, aren't you?"
She says, "I'm afraid I can't say due to our privacy policy."
I said, "If I'm right, just say nothing and hang up."
She said, "Have a nice day."

Received call(one of many) from this number and today a message was left and the caller said she didn't like unknown calls either, but it was imperative that I call back.   Of course I did not such thing; and I am sick of all the calls.  I don't know who these crazy people and wish something could be done to stop them.

    hate this crap
i didnt answer, they did not leave a message.
these call are just scams, blocking or reporting the number doesnt help because they just change the number and keep calling.
Dont answer these calls, and dont call them back. when you answer, or call back, or talk to someone, or press 9 to be added to their do not call list - that just lets them know that your number is a working number. then they flag it is as a working number. therefore you will get repeated calls from them and all their scam buddies. because it is an illegal operation and they change numbers and stories often (free alarm system scam, credit card interest rate lowering scam, we will pray with you scam, donation scam, free cruise scam, problem with you accont scam, ect) they DO NOT CARE about the do not call list. they call as many people as the can, changing the story on occasion just to scam an unsuspecting person out of money. the more people they call, the more chances they have of stealing from us.
every number called by the robo callers that dead end gets tossed out, and the ones flagged as working(casue you called back or answered) get stored, passed around illegally, and worst of all - called repeatedly.
BEST ADVICE - NEVER MAKE ANY MONETARY TRANSACTION  OVER THE PHONE, EVER. ESPECIALLY IF THEY CALLED YOU. and dont ever give out personal or financial info over the phone, especially if they called you. SIMPLY, IF THEY CALLED YOU - YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO.

if everyone STOPS making monetay transaction over the phone - this will stop. if they never make any money this way, it will stop because it will never pay off.
Even if a charity calls, and you are interested, DONT GIVE MONEY OVER THE PHONE. have them mail you donation paperwork and verify its valid. if they refuse to do this it is most likely a SCAM.

NO MONEY OVER THE PHONE - MEANS NO MORE CALLS (YEAH) from these scam, telemarketer, timeshare, ect scumbags.

This number calls my home phone and my business line all day long.  Back to back calls.  I don't answer them.  If the govt. wants to save money, it should get rid if the useless Do Not Call Registry.
