- bob replies to Jade| 4 repliesif you have unlimited calling you can call them back and when they answer don't say anything. they say hello what number is this..hello..hello. then your call dumps back into their system to repeat this same process over and over for as long as you like
- Gord replies to JadeI think these people are part of an ID theft ring. They pose as a collection agency and pump you for information to get you to prove you are NOT who they are after. You don't know what piece of your ID profile is missing. Anything you give them could allow them to complete the puzzle and steal your identity and sell it.
Why do you think it is that so many posts here say that the person they are after doesn't live there? It's because the calls have nothing to do with debt collection. The calls are random and odds are, a certain percentage of people will try to convince them that they are not the target and give them ID information to prove it. Probably works pretty well for them.
It's a Phishing scam. They don't follow the laws because they are criminals.
Do not give them any information and report them to the authorities.
Unfortunately the authorities are overwhelmed and can't battle these things so we have to protect ourselves. Don't fall for it. - bob replies to bobfollowup- I've reported them to the BBB. Meanwhile I do my callback thing. There system just keeps dumping my call back into itself and another operator tries to talk to me. I get dozens of operators some get pissed that no one is answering. I put a piece of tape over the mouth hole so I can go about my business. I have call waiting so no worries. I usually do them about an hour every time they call me.
- Dee replies to D| 4 repliesI dial the number and blocked it, by calling *67-800-851-9631 and it says, Hi you reach DRS please hold for a representative. Yeah Right, I hung up.

- Kib| 2 repliesThis company drs Bonded Collection System. called me last year and made arranement payments of 410 a month, we turned off, canceled & dropped a lot of things to make this kind of pymt. They day they took our 3rd months pymt, they call me; & right when my husband was loosing his job. The lady said if we didn't pay the settlement amount then the original company was going to get us for the full plus court fees and late, etc. I started crying cause we didn't have $3,400 to give to them. The collection person told me to that since my name was on our bank account that I can make a dis.on this matter, since my husband was at work. I kept crying cause she kept badgering me saying she needed an answer right now. She said Citifinancial already did some investigation on my husband and he has a retirement, we have so much in our bank account. I started crying even more. I told her no he does not. He use to awhile back with another company. and that we only had just under 1,00 in our account and that was for current rent and bills. I tried telling her the information they had was very old. She didn't listen to me. I knew we didn't have that kind of money and wasn't sure where I was going to get it from. She started raising her voice telling me to quit crying right now and deside now. You need to ok this process now. She said we can give you 2 weeks to get the money together. Then she told me to stop it now just stop. I just wanted to get her off the phone and call my husband. I told her ok. She typed something up real quick and that was it . After freaking out and borrowing money from family before they automaticly withdrawn the money. And the lady saying and faxing me from the company a letter of satisfied and pay off amount letter. The took the money and then now I find out they gave the account back to the original comp. and now they gave it to another collection company to get the rest. Even though it was suppose to have been satisfied and paid off and settled with the settlement amout. This is so stressful on a family, espcially with todays crappy economy and gov., we also have to deal withperisites like these companies.

- raingot a call from 800-851-9631 no info, jsut to call
Bunch of jerks!
They give you no information but want to extract as much as they can out of you!!! - 800-851-9631They call relentlessly, day and night. Three, four, five times a day. I don't know who they are, or why they call, or what they want. I have managed to not answer their calls for over a year now, thinking that they will eventually give up but they never, ever do. I don't know of any old, outstanding bill, and even if I had one, I never, ever give out my bank account info to a perfect stranger, just because they say they are employed to collect money from me. Sometimes the caller ID says "DRS", and sometimes it just says "unknown". Any legal way to make them leave me alone?
- AnnoyedThere are people who keep calling me from 800-851-9361 who will not answer me when I ask what type of business they are but will keep cutting me off and try to get the last 4 of my social. When I ask why it's needed they will not answer but say they cannot give me information unless I can verify the last 4 of my social.

- jeanie| 1 replyMy 65 year old mother-in-law received a collections letter from Debt Recovery Solutions (DRS), demanding payment of $451 for an outstanding Verizon bill FROM 5 YEARS AGO for a phone number registered in Buffalo NY under her name. Meanwhile, she's lived in Queens NY her entire life. She now feared her identity had been stolen.
She called 800 228-7110 for an explanation. But the rep would not answer any questions and just kept insisting she pay the debt immediately as she was being marked an additional 30 days delinquent. When she explained she never lived in Buffalo much less opened a Verizon account there, the rep said she will need to prove it by sending DRS an affidavit and copies of her tax returns, utility bills, pay-stub, the last 4 digits of her social security, and other material as proof of her residency 5 YEARS AGO!!! Are they insane?!!!
Thankfully she just told my husband and I what was going on and we immediately advised her to go to the police. The detective instructed her not to send these people ANY information WHATSOEVER, nor to speak to them ever again as it sounds like it could be a scam. The detective asked her to obtain her credit reports and to contact him when she receives them. In the meantime, she filed a police report.
And now I just came across this website, along with several others, and the Better Business Bureau only to discover that yes, it appears it is a complete scam.
My husband and I are completely livid and outraged that a business such as this with as many complaints as this, is still permitted to operate!!! Why haven't these animals been raided, closed down and thrown in jail?!!!
Now I'm going to scour the Internet to find out what I can do. I'll write letters to everyone and anyone I have to, to do my part to put a stop to this.- Caller: Debt Recovery Solutions

- Law Student| 2 repliesI didn't study law for no reason. I have gotten plenty of phone calls regarding a phone bill that does not belong to me. I reported it as fraud and have even called this number back to ge more information. They refused to give me the information I requested, were beyond rude and if that is not enough, I was cursed out and hung up on. Now I'm pissed. I did my research and found out where the NY base is located and here is there address and direct phone #:
900 Merchants Concourse
#106
Westbury, NY 11590

Just to show how stupid they are, I called to verify the address and they fell right into my trap.
I love stupid people........Hope this information helps those who need to file the proper complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Now you have an address to report as well as a phone #.

- alias John SmithThey called and asked if I was "John Smith." I said yes. They asked for the last 4 digits of my SS number. I fell for it and told them. They apologized and said I was the wrong John Smith, and said they would delete my phone number from their computer. Maybe they have a way to recover the first 5 digits of my SS number. I guess I'll find out the hard way...

- jackie wrightThis company claims that I owe them money (school loan) this is not the first time that my identity has been used. I was called the week of Thanksgiving on my job, asked for the last four of my social security, of which I refused to provide. I was also asked my date of birth to which I also refused but did ask the DOB of the person they were trying to track down. The person is 30 years old young enough to be my daughter. The telephone caller ID reads unavailable but the voice message left by the caller on my home telephone is from DRS. If you ask them who they are they hang up, angry because they failed to get you SS#
I want these calls to stop- Caller: DRS
