I wrote two letters so far,but they just keep calling. I let my answering machine take care of it. The letters I have been sending back return to sender DECEASED. Not sure whatelse I can do other than ignore them?

- Cludbase Dave Klamath Falls, Oregon replies to KibTo anyone recieving collections calls from DRS Bonded Collections aka LVNV, Resurgence, Sherman Financial. You have the RIGHT to ask for a "VERIFICATION of VALIDIDITY" of the debt showing the original creditor's name, address, account number(s) and the amount. They also have to show that the orignal creditor has "hired" them to represent them in the collections accoount. Request this information via a certified letter and also make sure that you specifically demand that they (debt collection agency) cease and desist further collection calls to your place of business, residence, or employment. Make two copies of the verication letter, one sent to the agency the other when the green acknowledgment card returns back to you in the mail staple that to your copy and place it in a folder for future reference.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE ANY DEBT COLLECTOR THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.
1. Bank account numbers - savings or checking.
2. Never give information such as your current employment status, retirement status or any income information.
3. Keep a note pad by the phone, have date/time, who called (a contact name) subject material. Log ALL INCOMING CALLS. Go to Radio Shack and purchase a cassette recorder and a telephone headset pic up mic and attach it to the phone head peice and hit the record button when they call. Inform them that they are being recorded for "QUALITY ASSURANCE PURPOSES".
4. My personal favorite, purchase a Freon powered Boat Air Horn and use it when they threaten or use foul language.
5. Put a potential FRAUD ALERT for 90 days on ALL YOUR CREDIT BUREAU REPORTS, and report their actions to your local bank manager, police department, BBB, and your State Attorney General's Office. If your in New York, old AG Como is going after these [***] with a vengence!

- Kellys| 1 replyCall at least 2-3 times per week. Don't answer the phone. Always a recording saying they are sorry they missed us, please call us back. Then it circles again. This post from March is a good one so I copied it and put it below.
I think these people are part of an ID theft ring. They pose as a collection agency and pump you for information to get you to prove you are NOT who they are after. You don't know what piece of your ID profile is missing. Anything you give them could allow them to complete the puzzle and steal your identity and sell it.
Why do you think it is that so many posts here say that the person they are after doesn't live there? It's because the calls have nothing to do with debt collection. The calls are random and odds are, a certain percentage of people will try to convince them that they are not the target and give them ID information to prove it. Probably works pretty well for them.
It's a Phishing scam. They don't follow the laws because they are criminals.
Do not give them any information and report them to the authorities.
Unfortunately the authorities are overwhelmed and can't battle these things so we have to protect ourselves. Don't fall for it. - Mike W| 1 replyThey keep calling about some Verizon phone debt that's from some jerk in NY...I live in California and have my entire life. The company name is Debt Relief Solutions (DRS). I have sent them proof that I lived in California when the bill was made but they keep calling anyway. They will hang up if you start yelling at them as I did. I am on the Do Not call list but that doesn't do any good. They need to have some consumer watchdogs get on their butts to make them stop these harrasing calls!
