GET CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER WITH NO MESSAGES LEFT

Got a missed call for this number and no message.

Called and left no message. Returned call, and it is ERC, Enhanced Recovery Center (or something like that) looking for a family member that has defaulted on a loan.

I answered because I'm so weary of all the ring-ring-ringing and no messages.  I think it was ERC or REC, debt collectors.  LAZY and STUPID debt collectors, I have told them a trillion times that they have the wrong number for the deadbeat they are chasing. They give an option to remove a wrong number, but it is only a bait, they put you through to a debt collector.  Lazy creeps.

This company keeps calling my number and I have told them numerous times that the person they are trying to contact does not live here but they will wait a few months and call again looking for the same person. I have given them a number to reach this person and they keep calling me. It is very annoying to have them to continue to call

This is a debt collector looking for someone who does not live here.  They identified themselves on my answering machine and left a message that they are ERC or something like that.   I am not in collections anywhere that I am aware of.  I think I'll call them back and see exactly what they wanted and to take my number off of this account.  But, I am not sure if they will listen to me and not call me again for what others have said.

I have to wonder why allegedly “legitimate” companies have to have so many numbers to call people.

So, the best things to do are to read the following, and make complaints at the provided links.  Also, any communication with these criminals should be by certified, return receipt US mail only:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
