Impressive amount of data there,  BigA.   Thanks.

Somehow they haven't bothered me until this last month. (March 2018)

A couple of serious questions for you (or others):

Any info on cases they have LOST in court?

Any response from the Pennsylvania Atty General or the like?

I just dropped "PENN CREDIT" into my machine's block list, and only got one more call after doing that, so
far, so it isn't gonna bother me much from now on.

(No, don't ask where you can get one of these machines.
I have been improving it for over 20 years.  It uses a PBX, a CLID reader, a couple of FreeBSD boxes
and a Linux box.  Plus a VERY BIG table of bad guys.  Something over ten or twenty thousand lines,
counting dumb stuff like office codes starting with 1 or area codes with a 9 in the middle.  And sometimes
I have to add variants for some of the text IDs.)

    It's a hobby.

Thanks for any actual legal results, though, if you have some.

    Best,
    Bob

No I do not.  There are tons of cases against them.  I would suspect that they would settle them and not take a chance on actually going before a jury, which would mean that they technically did not "lose" the case.  It would actually be in your best interests to make them follow the law, and allow them to keep calling so that you could sue them as well.  This outfit is well known for violating the law.  By the way, from reading PA law, if you live in that state, you can sue them in the Court of Common Pleas under the PA Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which also happens to cover you for original creditors as well.  It is only one of five states that actually help the consumer against violations by both 3rd party debt collectors and creditors.

Automatic call.  I answered and no one was on the other end for 10 seconds.  Finally they asked for my wife, but wouldn't tell me what the call was about, other than "personal business".  Then they wanted my wife's address.  She told them she doesn't give it to people she doesn't know.  They hung up.  We promptly blocked that number.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have nothing new to add.  They (PENN) have been successfully blocked by my setup
recently.  Future?  Who knows.   I will follow this thread for a while.

    Best,
    Bob

I get at least 2 messages per day with a recording to press a number for English option or to speak to a representative.  The recording never offers any information on the reason for the call.  This is definitely harassment.

That person never said that they were talking about any debts.  She said they left a message for her.  Depending on what was on that message it may or may not be illegal.

Don't answer calls I don't recognize. Voice mail message was left. Don't remember seeing in the transcript of the message they left it asking for any specific person. Yes I am not perfect and do have bills I owe from the past. But have not received anything in the mail from Penn Collection

These a******s never give up and I won't give in!  They've been calling me for about 4 months.  They always call at the same time, between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. Not too bright.  You'd think after 4 months they would figure I'm not home at those hours and try a different time. Occasionally on a weekend they will call twice and it is apparent it is an automatic call because they call exactly, to the minute, 4 hours after the first call.  They have never left a message and the CID only says toll free call.  They might call once a day and then they may not call at all for a week.  Doesn't sound like legit business practice.  If they were for real they would have sent me a letter, so that suggests to me that they don't have my address.  If I owed anyone money they would have taken my address at the time they lent me the money or sold me the item and they would certainly give this to any collections agency they hired to collect the debt.   I have blocked them but they have managed to get around my call blocker so now it rings when they call.

Have the debt collection agency mail the creditors name and the business address with account information to you. If they fail to comply by mail you take take legal action against the collection agency in your jurisdiction.

By law they must inform you WRITING what debt is owed and who they are collecting for.
