I agree that the person's reply was rude; but I would like to know one example of a family in the United States who must choose between freezing, feeding their children and paying their credit card bills.  If there is such a family, I suggest they cancel their cable television, cell phone and ISP services to help ease their financial strain.

    Take care.

I am not behind on any payments nor do I have a Capital One account (my daughter does but she swears she's current on it).  I have not answered these calls because I do not know who they are from but they call approximately 10 times a day for the past 3 to 4 weeks, even on Sunday starting at 8:15 a.m. (which collectors are NOT ALLOWED to do) and never, ever, ever leave a message on the machine.  It's extremely annoying because most of these calls stop after a while if I don't answer them but this one doesn't--it is just increasing in volume.

I get these annoying calls, also.  I'm not late on any payments, and I don't answer the phone for numbers I don't recognize, either.  They'll call 4 or 5 times in a row and never leave a message.  I don't have a problem with being called if there's an issue with my account or something, but if something is wrong, they should be leaving a message!

Told these harassers i am filing bankruptcy and I gave them my attorneys name and number to call. They still continue to call 4 times a day and call my office asking for me telling my office it is Capitol One. I do not know what to tell them except the same info until the chapter 7 is complete. Is this harassment?

Yes, if you are filing for bankrupsy and gave them your lawyers name and number and have asked to have the phone calls stopped and to have them call your lawyer...IT IS HARRASMENT. Let the lawyer handle the case. log on a pad when they call (date, time etc etc)

    Just RINGER SILENT them
I received 3 calls in a row, which I didn't answer.  Using my cell phone, I give that number a "special" ring = SILENT!  Therefore, I don't get so irritated, and simply know that I missed their 3 calls when I pick up my phone.

Hope that helps some of you a little...

And yes, when your financial circumstances get better, pay your bill...as I intend to do when I start getting a paycheck again...

I got this call and was able to verify it belongs to Capital One Credit card company. It is for their account specialist department, inquiring about payment information for past due or over limit balances on your account. An airhorn won't due you much good other than getting you assault charges for ruining someone's hearing. If you are having problems, contact them and they will help you work things out. Doing what you say will cause them to cancel your account and proceed with collections, they can and will help if you let them know your situation.

write to them and ask them to stop calling.  By law they have to.  But they still can collect the debt by sending letters and even going to court if necessary.  but at least the calls will stop.  I know they called me at 8:30 this(saturday)morning.  Which is a no no according to the fair credit collections act

TELL me about it! I am not advocating not paying back a debt IF IT IS LEGAL, but in this day and age of Corporate downsizing and outsourcing coupled with the skyrocketing cost of energy, insurance premiums, healthcare, food, etc., more and more people (like us) are having to make some difficult decisions...just to SURVIVE. I've done the bit about writing and calling my creditors...only to be verbally abused for my efforts and taken to court "Because I 'REFUSED' to pay", which was TOTAL B.S. The truth of the matter is, they don't give a rat's a$$ if we or our kids starve, just so they make their commissions...legally or not. Let's face it, folks, Debt Collection is BIG BUSINESS. They make their money (one way or the other), even if it is the debt doesn't LEGALLY belong to us...while our Government sits on their thumbs and watches.

FRAUD!!! This is NOT Capitol One, but always saying they're from "Capitol One" asking for someone different all the time.....trying to offer me Autopay at least three times a day, never leaving a voicemail. I got so frustrated with these numbers one day after they called, that I decided to call them both back from my jobs phone, and I got a BI-SEXUAL hotline on one of them, and the other asking for my SSN and credit card number!! Never picked up these numbers until it became a nuisance. Told them repeatedly they had the wrong person and number, and told them to STOP CALLING/take my number off their list, but they still keep calling every day to verify my SSN and credit card #. Threatened with legal and even physical action, but still calls every day. Since the cell phone companies don't offer blocking incoming calls on an individual number basis (Which is STUPID), the best thing you can do is STORE THESE NUMBERS IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK AND ATTACH A SILENT RINGER TO THEM.

We have received four calls just today; 9:24 am, 9:42 am, 3:38 pm, 4:25 pm. We have been receiving calls from them for months, sometimes only twenty minutes apart. Today, I waited in silence through repeated requests for my credit card number from an automated voice. Then, I waited through repeated requests for my social security number from an automated voice. I still sat in silence when the automation stopped.

Eventually, to my surprise, a live woman came on line. I told her that I filed complaints with anybody and everybody who would listen. I told her that I did not have a credit card with Capital One and I was not putting up with this anymore. She told me that she would remove me from the call list. That conversation took place at 4:45 pm this evening, January 30, 2008, so only time will tell.

I have already filed complaints with the "National Do Not Call Registry".

I just called the number back and let the automated voice continue to speak until a person picked up the phone.  They asked for my phone number, I gave it to them and they asked for a person that does not live here.  I asked them to remove the number but we'll see.  I was a litte weary becasue the automated voice wanted my SSN.  I don't think that a real credit card company would ask for that in such a way.

Wrong you are.  No one in my house has a capital one account and it is never good advice to give out account info and ssn over the phone.  It it is truly Capital One, they would be able to retreive your info by phone number or address.

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE!!!  NEVER!!!
