Called looking for someone named Scott. When I told them no one lived here by that name they got all pushy and guilty trippy about not paying bills or something. I again told them Scott doesn't live here, they called me a liar and hung up. Since then I've gotten 8 calls from them.

The only Scott I know is my neighbor and he has no business with capital one.

Simple solution would be a "not me" letter sent certified, return receipt to Capital One whose address is easily located on the internet.

FYI, for people being fooled, if you don't answer and you call back the number they provide in the voicemail, it sends you to the actual Capital One. (I received prerecorded messages from "Linda at Capital One with an important business matter"). This is a trick to get you to believe it's them so you answer the next time they call. I called and verified that it was NOT the real Capital One calling me for any reason.  So, if you answer a call from this 1800#, do not give them or verify ANY information because they are trying to defraud you! If you have accounts with Capital One, they can remove you from calls and promotional offers and only email or mail you if they have a need to.  Don't be trusting if you can't verify who is really calling you, and if it's a true collection matter, you would have received prior notification by mail, which is the lawful and regulated way businesses are supposed to operate, NEVER with threatening phone calls out of the blue with no prior WRITTEN communication.

I was planning on doing that however, I just blocked the number. Haven't had any alternate numbers call me from Capital One since.

It appears to be Capital One, I have accounts with them and did miss a payment.  It appears to be a generic computer scripted message.  "Hi, this is Karen from capital one.  we've been trying to reach you about an important business matter.  please return this call at 800-955-6600."

I’ve never had an account with capital one.  They don’t leave a message.  I’ve filed a complaint with my State Attorney General and with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).  I’ve also called  my members of Congress at state and federal level, because this is harassment and violates numerous laws.  I’ve asked them to look into it and consider a Congressional hearing.  This shouldn’t happen. If it isn’t capital one, then they need to warn their customers and public.

I keep getting calls from 800-955-6600.  I’ve missed some and answered some. I pointed out that I have never had one of their credit cards.  I asked them to stop calling.  Then when they continued to call I filed a complaint with Do Not Call, the Federal Trade Comission (FTC.gov) and the Texas State Attorney General (AG).  Y’all need to file complaints with the FTC and your state attorney general.  I also contacted my local sheriff, because it may be fraud and let my elected officials know.  I requested that they hold hearings like they did with Wells Fargo.

Even though I have never done business with them, it’s still apparent that they are breaking Federal and State laws with their practices.

I don’t expect immediate results, but the more law enforcement and government eyes on them the better.

They will not stop calling our place of business multiple times of the day. They are looking for someone who used to work for us years ago that apparently owes a debt. Despite telling them to stop calling us, they still continue to do it.

As a business person you should know that in order to get things done properly it takes a letter.  Capital One is easily located on the internet to send them that letter, preferably by certified, return receipt mail.
