- This is GreatAs a former employee, I have to say this is a great read!
- Stephanie| 1 replyI have gotten a couple of calls from this number - until I blocked them. The told me on the first call that they were calling on behalf of SunTrust Bank. They said they had to verify info about me .... last 4 digits of my ss number, dob, address, etc. When I said I didn't have any accounts at that bank, they said I could call SunTrust. I asked them for a phone number and they said they couldn't give me one until they verified my info first. I hung up.
The next time they called it was automated and I just hung up and blocked the number.- Caller: Associated Credit Services
- Call type: Debt collector

- john stewart replies to former acs lowell employeeHey, "former employee" I have a serious question. I realize this is coming years after your post, but I got a call today from this bunch of deadbeat hustlers. They claimed to be looking for "Frank or Melissa Gillespie". Of course, there's no such person or persons. When I pointed that out to whoever it was I was talking to (none of these people have names) he just kept repeating the same phrase "...I was told these people were at this number (BS) O.K. Mr Stewart, I'll take your name off our list." When I "pressed" him to tell me who he REALLY was, and what he REALLY wanted, and why he kept calling and asking for someone he had to know doesn't even exist, he kept "stumbling around" and pretty much just repeating the same phrases. ??? That's when he found out why the Green Berets (5th Spec Forces) made me an officer. I really "let him have it" (both barrels). Then he went into a defensive posture, and said something like "..I'm not going to sit on this phone and listen to your profanity ..." etc. etc. Then I told him to go perform an impossible sex act, and if he didn't like the way I talk - STOP CALLING ME !! Can you interpret all this, and tell me the REAL purpose of his call? I just don't "get" why they call someone repeatedly, and ask for someone they HAD to know doesn't exist, and when they are "un-masked" they just stick to the same BS. I always thought "collection agencies" reason for existence was to collect $. How in the world is this kind of nonsense contributing to that goal? I just don't get it. Can you solve this puzzle?

- Anonymous| 1 replyHave been receiving calls from an unknow number at my job and when I called back they answered as Associated Credit Services and asked for my address to "identify" I was the right person, then he proceeded with my home number and full name. I asked his name, Gabriel Gonzalez, and got testy when I told him that he should have all the info if he's calling me. He said I was being rude as he was trying to help and hung up!
- BigA replies to AnonymousYou will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two or more federal and state agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
