honestly.. replies to A Real Collector
I would estimate that roughly 10 percent of debtors are legitimate victims of the recession. The remaining 90% fall in to the following two categories:

    1: Lazy

    2: Living beyond there means.

A good collector will be able to decipher which category the debtor belongs and make the necessary concessions in there pitch.

Secondly, running dialer dialer campaigns on 20,000 debtors which generally fall into the "lazy" category  can easily be mathematically proven to be more efficient than call each one manually.

Lastly, If you are going to bad-mouth a company simply because you got fired, you should at least do your homework first, and not just rely on rumors generated by other disgruntled ex employees.  It makes you sound pathetic, desperate, ignorant, and bitter.

    Good day

A Real Collector replies to honestly..
So your saying most of your debtors are just lazy and all have jobs ? Wow and you think I'm ignorant and pathetic ? And you also think you should call debtors on a dialer only, the same ones ? over and over ? no skip tracing ? no follow up calls ? no wonder you lost FMER and Wells.

And my sources on the rumors of ACS aren't from disgruntled ex employees. they are from CURRENT  employees who contact us by phone and on facebook telling us how bad it is there nowadays and ask if we can get them in our new better jobs. You managers and supervisors at ACS think you are smarter than everyone but your really stupid with no common sense and no street smarts. And why would somebody get rid of Stephanie L who was a great collector and keep a boob like Aaron P.

And to all my fellow Rhode Islanders CCA is hiring. There are so many student loan accounts we can't even keep up with them.

ACS was once the largest collection agency in New England now they are just a has been.
So Please don't reply anymore.   Nuff said

    Good Day

If you go to the Massachusetts Secretary of State's website and do a corporate search, you will find a wealth of infomation on Associated Credit Services.  I have been called for two days in a row by them looking for someone I've never heard of.  On the second day, I told the caller that if I received a third call, I would be filing a law suit.  He claimed he would remove my number from their system. So far, no third call.

Someone from this number called my cell and was very rude. I told them to take my name off of their list and they told me to "take my tone down 2 "octaaaves"(pronounced it with a long A). I told the guy that the english language is "octave". and his response "uh whatever". He sounded like a mobster, and threatened me, this even after I told him he had the wrong number.

I just recieved a call from this number.  The male caller did not identify theirself, but asked if I lived on a particular street. The street they asked about was actually my former work address. I was caught off guard and answered no. He then  apologized and hung up. This got me thinking....why would they call my number and ask about an address I am associated with?

They called my cell and left no reply.  I called back and stated someone called my number and they said, yes we are looking for so and so.  I told them that they have the wrong number.  Hung up.  If they call again it's harassment and there is the Fair Credit Debit Act.  Look into it.  They can get sued. If you can locate them.  .

It is a pain, but change your number and be careful who you give it to.  My girlfriend actually got a prepaid and she didn't have to give information.  They called her so much and she even worked out an arraignment but felt it was bogus.  Come to find out it wasn't even for her.  She went through hell to get $$$ back and still hasn't received the payments back.  Don't give these people a dime.  Tell then they have the wrong number over and over again.

    NIGHTMARE ON SHADY LANE
You hate us because we see through your lies. some of you might have valid reasons. But most of you debtors are nothing more than plastic players trying to live beyond your means. You fail to realize that when you don't pay your bills....interest rates and fees go up for everyone. that is the way the system works. and for every million placed in a collection office....maybe $200,000 gets payed back. I listen to your excuses. half of you shouldn't waste your time trying to lie because you suck at it. you have no regard for anybody. your crazy if you actually believe someone who is payed to see through [***] is going to believe a word you say. when you don't pay what you owe, the bank makes that money back by hiking interest rates for everyone, even the people that pay their bills. so in all actuality the people that pay are paying for you too......and then you claim to be the "victim" and that your being "harrassed"  when your only screwing yourself and the people that do pay their bills......now.......ask yourself why the economy sucks........and i already some dumb debtor who has made a life out of screwing the system is going to have some remark. like i said.......your [***] means nothing to me.....just hope you sleep well at night knowing that your screwing everyone instead of doing the right thing.

Hey John. The Scam is you buddy.Trying to stiff TD Bank by saying you don't owe them anything. You realize when Companies send accounts to 3rd party agencies they have to give them a cut on what they collect for them. Why would they send and account there that is paid? Does that make any sense Johnny ? If your dispute is legit Johnny why go on a message board rather than write a letter to the company. Here is the address.

So what about someone like me, I recently moved and received a new phone number. Little did I know the person who gave up my number must owe everyone on the planet money and all I get are phone calls from her creditors, they won't stop even when I say it's not her number some are down right nasty. I won't get into a discussion about debt since I own a home, car and everything else I have so therefore I should not be bothered by these idiots but I am. I have even had a VM with the prior owners SS# left for me to hear these people are scum.

Not all debts that this company are trying to collect are legit. The person trying to collect is often unaware of specific circumstances regarding the debt itself.

I was having severe service disruptions on my AT&T cell service. I had been calling for over 6 months complaining to the company, and they FINALLY let me terminate my contract early, but this was never reflected on my bill. I had already switched to a new carrier when AT&T sent me a bill for the termination fee. The reason I was calling for 6 months was to either fix my problem OR get out of my termination fee, and I NEVER would have cancelled early if I had to pay the fee.

They apparently "record" their conversations, but have no way of playing them back when it's in your favor. I refuse to pay $90 in the termination fee on principle, because the supervisor/manager I spoke with at the end finally agreed that I was having abnormally high dropped calls and service disruptions, and I had been calling so frequently to complain.

I sent a certified letter to AT&T and received NO RESPONSE. ACS has no knowledge of what actually occurred at AT&T and their only concern is trying to collect this dollar figure. I'm going to keep fighting to get this bill resolved, and I'm not willing to deal with ACS anymore (the man I spoke to was very rude and didn't care about the situation at all - only the money).

There are other avenues to get things removed from your credit report - you can write to the credit agencies explaining the dispute, you can keep writing to the original debtor, and you can also start being more vocal about how you were screwed over. If I get my family members, friends, co-workers, etc to switch to other cell carriers because of how I was treated, guess what, AT&T loses out on a lot more than $90...and at least I'll have that.

If you truly owe a debt, you should pay it, but there are certainly gray areas in the debt collection business. Not everyone should just be harassed into paying bills when they don't owe them, or they are legitimately being disputed. You can't live in this world without agree to all kinds of "fine print". So sure, according to AT&Ts contract I signed, I owe them a cancellation fee...but on principle, and on the SPOKEN WORD of one of their managers, I never should have owed them this debt in the first place, and I refuse to pay it....

Your right AT&T is not a client of theirs. They don't have that many clients there these days .And a warning to everyone out there don't ever talk to Frank Silva aka Fran Fournier they fired him about 10 years ago for forging debtor's signatures on repurchases of student loans then 2 years later they hired him back because they were so desperate for bodies in there. he is very notorious for breaking the law and threatening people. Another joke there is Dane Valasunas aka Thomas Cross a white guy who thinks he is black and dresses ghetto. He has 3 DUIs and is  a supervisor there. So just keep in mind these are the type of people that work there. And if any collector ever tells you that the client (the company that the money is owed to) is coming in on the 15th or 31st of the month to audit the accounts and wants the account paid or money on it by then just laugh at them because when companies send accounts to them they're for the most part there from 8 months to a year. Never listen to their [***]
