- Mike Powell replies to PDUNCAN| 3 repliesMr. Duncan,
I don't find a Duncan in my system at least not with a P initial and noone that we have spoken with. Please give me a call so we can discuss these violations. I HOPE THIS IS NOT FROM A CONSUMER LAW OFFICE PHISHING AROUND FOR BUSINESS TRYING TO GIVE US A BAD NAME!!!! I HAVE KNOWN SEVERAL "CONSUMER PROTECTION" FIRMS THAT ARE SOLICITING FOR LITIGATION AND ON THESE BOARDS MAKING US LOOK BAD AND THEN ADVERTISING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION AND THEN COACHING ON ALLEDGED VIOLATIONS THAT DON'T REALLY EXIST JUST TO CREATE NUISANCE COMPLAINTS THAT WE WILL SETTLE FAST AND CHEAP. WE KNOW OUR RIGHTS AS WELL AND WILL NOT SUBMIT TO AMBULANCE CHASING FIRMS MASQUARADING AS DISTRAUGHT CONSUMERS. IF YOU ARE TRULY A CONSUMER AND HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH MY FIRM PLESE CALL OR EMAIL ME PERSONALLY IF YOU WOULD LIKE. ACCOUNTS@MIDWESTFIDELITY.COM OR 800-983-5027 - not convinced replies to MFS| 7 repliesIf you are who you say you are, how come your number is unlisted and blocked? My trapcall service had to unblock you. Also this number is not the number listed in yellow pages for midwest fidelity LLC. Also recording left does not specify info such as your company or reference number just a mumbled message of how we may not be aware.. Also no letters in mail validating claims of debt? Sorry i am not convinced. Sounds sketchy and like a total scam.

- Caller: Debt Collector/Scam
- Lindsey| 2 repliesTip for all , if you have Verizon which I have.. .they have.., add to your account the Block Calling features and add every single number they call from, b/c they will not leave you alone, and their dumb enough to leave a message sounding exactly like a debt collector. Lemme think, if I had the money, don't you think I would've paid u by now? AND, are you so stupid to think that your job is an actual job? Harassing people who are in financial distress for a living isn't exactly work, it's annoying and shows you likely would be working at McDonalds if you can't get a job doing anything else.... how do you sleep at night?
- Caller: Debt Collector

- Mike Powell replies to Lindsey| 1 replyHi Lindsey,
We don't assume anything we certainly understand that people are in distress and actually the job can be quite rewarding. We help resolve a burden that is normally weighing on a consumers mind. We take pride in the fact that most of the people we talk to will thank us for helping them before we are done with the conversation. I am sorry that things are not going so well for you right now. That does not mean that what we do is bad.
If your creditors did not have a way to recover remember that the cost of the credit will continue rise. One of the reasons your interest is not worse is because they have the chance to recover even it you default on your payments.
I understand that these things can be hard to imagine when things are rough. One day things will be better. Just keep working on things one day at a time. Let me know if we can help. - Mike Powell replies to annoymousThanks for that information I must have been in cardboard classes and my professors must have been paid actors. Pretty elaborate scheme I say. lol

They dont buy those loans? The creditor is trying to get paid? If they aren't buying the loans, they are buying lists of old debt without buying the debt. The creditor has been paid, they sell off blocks of debt to collectors while it is still within SOL, who could sue if the amount was worthwhile. From some of these posts, it sounds like a lot of this debt is paid, discharged, outside the SOL or someone else's and bought (if it was) for pennies on the dollar.
Don't pay people over the phone. Get the notice in the mail, read the law, look at your records and determine if the debt is real, if it is yours, if you are obligated to pay it and if the company has the right to collect it. If the notice does not come via USPS, treat them like the scammers they are. If you do get the notice, dispute it and make the company validate it, they have to give you the details, including the original creditor and amount. If they cannot validate they have to cease collection activity.
If they violate your rights under the FDCPA, sue them.
