Sounds like you work for these scam artist.  Especially your line/threat about"wouldn't you hate it if they called your Mom or Dad and let them know about your debt" - that is HIGHLY ILLEGAL(my neighbor is an attorney).  You can NOT discuss a debt with ANYONE, unless the person that is legally responsible for that debt, and a TRUE debt collector knows this and also knows that discussing a debt with anyone other than the person that owes the debt, opens the COLLECTOR up to a lawsuit.

    Very Interesting
I have received a few phone calls from this company. Mind you all on my BOSSes telephone line.  They left voice mails stating that this is regarding an financial application.  When my boss gave me the messages I did not return the telephone call, because I have not applied for anything.
Today 9/29/2014 I received another phone call on my BOSSes line.  When I answered the phone, the female asked If I was (my name). (I didn't not confirm nor deny my name. I never answered her, instead I asked, "Whom was calling"? She said, "Midwest Fidelity".  I asked again, "Whom"? The female stated, "Midwest Fidelity".
I told the female to stop calling this business line that she would get the employee (me, didn't give a name) fired.  She made the humph sound right before I hung up the telephone.
If this is legal, and this company is from KS.  They should know the laws in the states that they are calling to.  Also this company needs to know the Federal laws regarding, when to call, where to call, what is to be said and how many times the call can be made.

I have to agree with some of the posts on this blog.  If you are asked to stop calling. You stop.  If you are asked to send in writing and verify what your asking for.  The Federal law states you must do so.  Also if this or any company violates these laws, they can be sued for $1,000 per indecent and the fess for Attorney's also any and all monies they were trying to get in the first place - wiped off and the information can be resold to anyone.

Also if these companies BUY these debts - "pennies on the dollar" - then the settlements that they ask for should be "pennies on the dollar"---since your company is not the ORIGINAL!!!
If the ORIGINAL creditor wants their ORIGINAL debt then they should call the consumer that owes them and make arrangements.

    PLEASE - anyone reading this.

    KNOW your STATE laws

    KNOW your FEDERAL laws

ALSO look into your county the company that is calling you counties ordinances/regulations etc.

What also is a real shot in the neck-if the consumer that "supposedly" owes money, why would settlement arrangements be made that make the consumer comfortable??????  If these debt collection companies are real, shouldn't you be thinking in the consumers shoes????

I know a lot of you think I work for one of these companies and some of you thinks that I live in a fantasy would, but the truth of the matter is, we as a society needs to start treating the people we come in contact with, with decency, humility and just down right common courtesy!!!!!!

Received a call from this number. She left a message saying that I needed to call back today and ask for Jennifer Guerrero.  Seems strange that anyone would leave a message on someone's phone when the "greeting" repeats the phone # and no name is mentioned. How do they know if the number belongs to the person they re trying to reach
I will not be calling back

If you are such a legit company, why, when the website for Midwest shows you are located in KS, does the number come up from Boston, MA or any number of other states? Doesnt sound too honest a business.
Also if so legit, why are you leaving cryptic messages about calling back and what it is regards to. Calling and attempting to collect debts that are past a state's statute of limitations, say 3-6 years old in some cases, is low.
You leave no name of your company, no reason why you call, or what it relates to and expect people to trust you are not sketchy?
I found your company name, not by searching the number that came up on caller ID, that doesnt exist,  but by searching the 800 number your person left. All they say is their name & to call back, like that'll happen when nobody knows what the call is about.

They called me to collect a debt that was 12yrs old!!! The debt was for a vocational school I went to back in 2003. It was closed down and went out of business due to fraud by the owners. Students sued that school and won. I received a letter about the law suit, it said students that attended that school between 1985-2005 will not have to repay the loan. Never got any phone calls, mail/e-mails from that financial institution since the letter. Now they claim I owe $28k that includes interest for the last decade or so! Wtf!!

Also the rep I talked to (Stephanie) failed to email me the info about this so called debt. The phone number looks like a cell phone number similar to mine. That number is 971-302-2873. This all seems fishy. These people are a damn joke!!

Even scammers have printers and paper and stamps. That is still no proof they legally own the debt they are trying to collect. If you want to make a payment on an old debt, send it to the original debtor, and if the collector is legit, they will have to forward it on. So that's fine, let them. I don't pay people I don't make a debt with. Period. These people just called me too trying to collect on something they said was from 2011 from a loan I didn't take out from a company I have never heard of. Going to check on the statute of limitations for trying to collect on old stuff.

Please review the laws set forth by both the FDCPA and the CFPB regarding the type of message received and the phone number in which you are receiving calls from. If you are still unhappy with these laws, please feel free to contact your State Representative. As consumers, we are the one's who vote on these laws.

Please understand that every state has different restrictions regarding calls to the place of employer. As consumers, many of us provide our employer number when we are in need of something (in this case funding).  Additionally, the FDCPA requires that collectors first verify the identity of the consumer by verifying their name, the last four the of the SSN#, date of birth and/or current mailing address on file. If the individual on the consumer's line refuses to provide this information the collector may not legally continue the call.

As consumers, it is our responsibility to educate ourselves on the laws regarding our daily actions.

Several issues regarding this post. Please see below comment regarding calls placed to employer. Did you provide the number on your loan application? Does your state allow place of employment calls, while your employer does not? Additionally, a collector would not contact you without a purpose, if they are contacting you, they are attempting to reach your or someone you know and are calling with the purpose of collecting a debt.
