This is a legitimate number for Social Security. If you have unemployment or disability claims. They are calling to get your bank account # for direct deposit. The best and secure thing to do is go to your nearest Social Security office and transfer the information there rather than on the phone. If you filed for an appeal and had a court hearing, that is public record. And scammers have access to that information too. It's easy to figure it out for yourself. With spoofing and calling you saying you received a 'favorable' decision. And you are more than happy to give them all your personal information. Not knowing for sure if they are actually a representative with Social Security.

This is a scam.  Calls from 816-935-3000 are not from social security. I called the official social security # and they have no record of anyone trying to reach me for any reason. NEVER EVER give out personal info on the phone.

You're right, it's a scam. Do not give any personal info over the phone. Call SS yourself to verify.

You're wrong. SS will never call to get info over the phone. Call the official SS office to verify if they need any info from you.

So she didn't call you back on "the number I had left to be called on", but on your cell phone, so that makes it legit? I'm not following your logic. Your post doesn't make sense.

The number came up on our caller ID as Kansas City, MO. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. But the caller did leave a message. He said his name is Larry Davenport from Social Security Administration in Kansas City, MO. He was calling about my husband's recent application for Social Security. He did quote some things from the application that were true but the number he left for my husband to call back was his direct line, according to him, and was 816-936-4440. My husband will call back when he is able to. If it sounds fishy, I will report whatever he finds out.

This call is legit. I was recently approved for SSI and they called to verify information. They told me my last four numbers of my SS#. Verified my address so they can send the checks to the correct address. Again this is a legit call from SS. They did not ask me to give them info. THEY GAVE ME MY INFO. I said at the beginning of the call that I do not give out any information and if he is calling from SS office he already has all my personal info and he did not have a problem with that. If you call 816-936-3000 you will get a recording stating someone from SS is trying to reach you and that the person will call back.
