- Anonymous| 1 replyHow is it that the people behind this number knows where and when you purchased your computer, when your last service call was and the reason for it? Is this company (HP) simply outsourcing to cheap Countries with the number 1-844-814-1800. I called Geek Squad and book a personal appointment instead.

- Sergio MI concur with all the comments on this page. This IS A SCAM and these people are calling from India. Very resourceful -- somehow they found a way to call my cell phone despite their phone number being blocked. I also experienced the foul language. Reported this to HP and obviously they are not doing anything about it. Do not fall for this scum
- Caller: HP
- TobiasDo not answer or hang up. They are 100% scammers. They will ruin your life in a heartbeat. A bunch of Indian scammers

- EliseI just got a call from this number and it was an Indian man who said his name was Eddie Brown. I have gotten calls before from the same number saying it was HP and knew it was a scam, so I have asked repeatedly asked for them to stop calling. This time he asked me if I was interested in doing porn. He went on and on about details of the "job". He said he got my info from a friend. When I said I would call the police, he laughed. He knew my email address and when I handed my boyfriend my phone, the man knew his old phone number. Very creepy & disgusting.

- AC| 1 replyJust got a call from this number claiming to be from HP saying that they were getting errors trying to contact my computer. They knew my name, email and the model of my computer. I said that I am not having problems and they should send me an email. He claimed that he was not authorized to send emails. I laughed at him and he said I was a joker and that he would block my computer. My response was "Good luck" and I hung up.

- Mike-in-MD replies to ACThis is what happens when customer service is outsourced to a foreign country with no consumer protections. The employees copy the customer database then run scams like this from their homes or internet cates when not working.
- LouI am getting same call from "John Davis" stating he is from HP and they are getting messages that my computer is not working properly. Several days ago I told him that I knew it was a scam call, but I would call HP myself. Today he called again. And, yes, he has my name and information about my computer...very frustrating!

- lwisdom43I also received this call, and have received and answered it multiple times. I told the guy that I knew this wasn't really HP support and they needed to stop calling. He told me to verify the number to confirm that he truly is HP support, which, if you Google the number, it will come up. I reminded him again that it was a scam and to stop calling (told him I have received this same call several times in the last several weeks), and then just hung up.

- JudithDecember 1,2016, Ray William, foreign accent in a room full of many people chattering and noise, said he was an HP Technician and
he was warning me that my computer was infected with malwares, virus etc. He could show me these by #'s if I entered them. ID 990 408 161, password 2942, F3D15AA, 50252836. I entered them and a screen appeared showing virus, errors, infected junk malwares and hackers. One time payment of $299.99 good for 3 yrs. would clean my computer and protect it. I then checked with my computer specialist about this offer. He said immediately unplug your computer as this man could have contaminated your computer already. I then took the computer to him to have it cleaned for $100.00. This man Ray William has called my home every day since from various numbers. I have documentation of much of this scam and have taken it to my Sheriff's Department who faxed this information to the NE. Attorney General Fraud Division- Caller: HP Smartfriend

- Wayne2442Scam scam scam. Let him on my PC thinking he was a tech. Called a number attached to HP website. Was told that a tech would call me back. Luckily I reset it the day prior and no information was on it. HP does not do that.

- Derwood GreenA person called me from this number and claimed his name was Shane. He had a foreign accent so I asked him if he meant Yang or something not so American. He was not to happy. He said my computer had a virus infection and he was a Microsoft agent. I laughed and he said stop laughing you laugh like the devil. Now I'm not sure what ole slewfoot sounds like laughing but after that comment I was so amused at the idiocy of the call. I'd say Shane has an IQ of 70 possibly.

- SSOCIt's a scam, trying to convince you that your computer is infected and generating error reports to HP. It is NOT HP, they don't call customers out of the blue. Scary that they had some information about my computer, perhaps someone inside in cahoots with the scammer. Don't fall for it. The call ended quickly when I told him he had the wrong number, no idiots, morons or suckers her.
