- LCI have reeived multiple calls from this number stating that my daughter's computer has a virus and if I don't fix it the whole hard drive will be lost.
- SusanI messed up a while back trying to reach HP tech support. I had free support for my recently purchased computer but didn't know it. In Google there are links to HP Tech Support but what it really means is that they are able to provide HP tech support. They are not HP. Very deceptive. I ended up paying over $300. I called my credit card company and he got on the phone with me and we argued with the guy. They didn't want to refund the money and they didn't fix my problem. I think the CC guy got tired of me yelling at them so he went off line. BUT eventually they did credit all my money back to my CC account. Now my free support has run out and they are calling me. I would never go to anyone but HP themselves. The guy was in India in any case.

Tried to refund us through direct wire, overpaid our credit card and wanted to have us pay them back by purchasing itunes cards and giving them the codes. Told us to only use one computer for my credit card online. Even gave me false phone number for my credit card to verify transaction went through. I called the 800 number on my credit card, no transaction crediting my account. Yet number they had me call said it went through and posted. Checked my account on my phone. No credit applied. - GeraldI called HP and they told me that they NEVER call anyone as far as tech support goes. They seemed to be aware of this scam and told me it is very easy to manipulate caller ID. But these people are ceaseless (thank god Spectrum has a decent call block option). When I told them I knew they were not HP and hung up on them then they emailed me. I replied telling them I know it is a scam. Undeterred them emailed me back being apologetic that I feel that way and kept up with the scam. They have a scary amount of information about you!!!!
- Caller: NOT Hewlett Packard
- Barb replies to RussellI finally blocked this caller, be careful, if they get into your computer, they will block you from using it if you don't pay up. This happened to someone we know.!
- KathleenYes, they are still using this scam, but they are getting better at it. They say they are from HP, and if you ask if they mean Hewett Packard, they say yes. Now they do not directly ask you to let them take control of your computer due to the the problems they have seen. They ask you what type of antivirus program you are using and say your computer says they it is protected, but it is not. He said go to your computer he will give you step by step instructions and if it does not work he will take control and see what he can do. SCAMMERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
