Continuous calling.  Can't pronounce my name.  Have deep root foreign accent.  If I want tech support I will call the number on my tech support information sheet..I have trained the people in my household to check the caller ID and if they are not sure pick up the phone listen and hang up immediately.  I have continuously file complaints and I am on the do not call list.   Funny thing I haven't used my HP in six months.

Called twice today within hours.  I looked it up on the computer and it said HP.  Hewlett Packard does not call individuals unless you contact them firstl

Lady with Indian Accent said she was calling from USPC TECH.  The caller ID said HPSMARTFRIEND.  She said my computer had downloaded 600 files and she wanted to warn me.  I said: Where is your physical address?  She said Long Beach.  I said give me the precise address, phone and contact and I'll report you.  This is a scam.  She kept trying to tell me to look for the 600 bad files ... I hung up.

This was the number given to me on live chat with HP. That number is supposed to be the level 2 team from what they call the "smart friend service team". I refused to call as I was afraid it was a scam. They are to call me tomorrow. Then my sister said that's the number she called as it's what is provided on the paperwork we got yesterday when buying our HP laptops.

It is HP's number and safe to call, but keep in mind getting a call, might not be them. Always call an official number  to verify if they called and never trust a caller to be who they claim to be. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers and pretend to be of that number to try getting personal info to use in a scam.

I am writing on behalf of my birthmother with schizophrenia. Her and I don't talk much but I've just found out that she's been paying a group calling themselves "HP Smart Friends" 15 dollars a month to fix the "viruses" on her computer for however many years. I've had her call her bank. The phone number they use is 844-814-1800. She told me she bought her computer (HP stream laptop) off of QVC and that the manual came with this number inside of it. It seems that they are reselling laptops preloaded with viruses and edited user manuals. This might be why some people who have reported this number previously said they were contacted by someone who knew their name, make and model of their PC. She said that when she calls that number, she is transferred to someone else that requires a code from you. She gave me a second number that she was told to call instead of the first: 1-866-211-5207. If you google the number, it takes you to their clearly fraudulent site: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/services/consumer/smartfriend-overview.html I am currently getting my masters in information science at the University of Pittsburgh, I am reaching out because I am sure this is a scam. I've reported this to the IC3 and FBI, this doesn't just seem to be an internet and phone number scam, they seem to be reselling faulty products too.
