We got a call from this number. All we heard is someone breathing.

We do exactly as Janet does:  Never pick up unless we know who's calling (we pick up only if we recognize the number or if we decide from the message that this is a person with whom we wish to speak).

Naturally, if no message is left, as in the case of the breather, we do not call back.

    P. S. Remember that your telephone is like the door of your house: would you open your door if you did not know who was there and whether he had legitimate business with you? Of course not. Then do the same with your telephone: do not answer unless you know who is calling and whether that person has legitimate business with you.

They called today and it actually said HEALTHALLIANCE on caller i.d.  I answered since I have HAP. Said they represent HAP and are called Matrix Medical, and that as part of my services I can get a home visit from a health specialist. Well I am healthy and don't even need prescriptions, so I told her no thank you and to take me off their calling list. If I do need a visit in the future, I will call HAP directly.  She was friendly and answered all questions so I don't know if they are really representing Hap or not. She said to call at that number, 855-403-0-967 if i have any questions.

It's from Matrix Medical, which does FREE preventative-care visits for my Medicare Advantage plan. Automated recorded voice of "Sally" offers a basic health check-up in your home, at no cost or obligation, as many Medicare Advantage plans do.

    Matrix Medical/Nurse Practitioner Scheme

This appears to be to be basically an attempt by Matrix Medical and perhaps others to extract money out of  Medicare/Medicaid by signing up those on these programs for still another unneeded service.   That is, an attempt by insurance companies to increase their income be creating more services and thus more income for the insurance company.  That’s the only purpose I can think of.  Supposedly a nurse practitioner will be better at coding treatments than the regular doctor.  This may be all quite legal.

Involves nurse practitioners but may involve other medical professionals as well.

This program is targeting the elderly.  Basically trying to scare them into signing up for this service.

However, there appears to be a lot of just plain ordinary cold-call scamming  going on as well.  Fishing expeditions trying to get information on Medicare patients.

If you have an insurance card, and you receive calls from people pushing home nurse practitioner visits, call the number on the back of the insurance card.

Check the number out that is calling you.

Absolutely do NOT agree to any sort of home care in the absence of a consultation with your own primary care physician.  Most people on Medicare (including myself) see a primary care physician once every three or four months for a general check up.

There is no need for a home care visit by a nurse practitioner in that kind of situation.

But as I say, consult your primary care physician.

This is what I've been able to find out from by own research on 800notes:

Not recognizing the number, I didn't answer. My phone indicated I had a voice mail, but it was just dead air. I don't recognize the names of the medical insurance companies that were mentioned by other people here, so I have no idea why they would be calling me. I have had offers from my insurance company (I have a medicare advantage plan) to send a nurse to my house for - I guess - basic medical screening. I have declined every time, not wanting a stranger in my home.

Have been receiving calls from this number.  We don't answer.  Voicemail says it is MatrixCare offering us a 'special service' at no cost through our health insurance.  We've gotten these calls last year and they wanted to do an in-home health assessment.  I told them absolutely not.  We have our regular doctor appointments and we don't need anyone coming to the home and 'casing the joint'.  I have now blocked the number.

Called at 8:00 in the AM, left lengthy message about a home health visit..  Called again at 9:00 this time I answered. Caller said she called to set up a time for a health care visit from a nurse. Told her she did not need one and hung up.. I am sure they will be calling again.  This is just a way for them to squeeze more out of medicare... They try to make you think it is mandatory.. Tell them to FO...
