Harrassing calls sometimes back to back. They leave no usable information and no number to call back except the caller id. If I pick it up before the answering machine there is no one there. The answering machine says that the call is an attempt to collect a debt. We have no debt in arrears.
When I called the number it went to MelNet a student loan collection agency. It was for our daughter who no longer lives here. She says that she paid it. They said that they would remove our number. That hasn't worked in the past.

Melnet called back to back about student eligibility of funds for my fiance. Said I was a reference but he did not apply for it. Bogus kept asking for personal info. Sketchy.

A harrassing call stating they were collecting money for the US government on a student loan for my son.  My son doesn't live here and hasn't for years.  Said my husband was a reference; name of person calling was Sean.  Said he was with the US Department of Investigative Loan Service.  He stated it was a government student loan.

They called my mother today and I don't even know how they found her (my mommy) I've been out of school for over 10 yrs and do not even live in the city with her nor am i trying to go to grad school right. Ugh...calling them now to curse them out.

They are sending me texts! Asking if I want to delay my payment. I DON'T owe them any money, and never have. I replied yesterday and told them I don't have any debt with them, and that I am a Senior citizen and if they didn't stop texting me I would report them. I just got another text saying the same thing. I'm not going to bother replying to this one.  
They left the number 855-720-8905 if I wanted to call them.FAT CHANCE THAT WOULD BE!

And he is correct and they are not harrassing because the follow the Fair Debt Collections Practices Ace.

Being that Nelnet is contraced on behalf of the US Dept of Education, they are required to contact any valid number until they reach the borrower. They are not harrassing because they are in compliance to the Fair Debt Collections Practivces Act. Get your daughter to call and they will stop, that simple!

Because that will get things taken care of.....

Not sketchy, they are actually in compliance with the Fair Debt Collectors Practives Act. They have to verify who they are talking to before realising any personal information.

I am not getting phone calls at the present time. Instead, I am getting text messages from this number. Specifically, a person named KALA grant. She is telling me I can postpone "studen loan debt". I do not have any such debts. I am a Senior citizen, never attended college, etc. I have replied to this text, and stated I have NO affiliation with this Company. She continues to text me.

So, how do I get this texting stopped! I don't know if being on the "DO NOT CALL LIST" APPLIES TO TEXTING. DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW? It gets aggravating, to say the least.

Federal backed college loans do not need to follow the F.D.P.A. which is for private loans and such.

You must work for them.  They called my number and asked for Melissa Belcher.  I have no idea who that is or how they got my cell phone number.  I've had this number for 12 years and in the last year I've got call after call for multiple people that I don't know.  Either this company has no clue how to investigate or people are giving out bogus phone numbers.

I got a call today from this number looking for my deceased mother. They wouldn't give me any information about why they were calling about her unless I gave them her SS# and Acct #, I don't know either of those numbers. They also wouldn't tell me how they got my number and refused to remove it from their records. I told my Dad about it and he said he sent them her death certificate right after she died and the account had already been settled and closed.

I am sick of getting a text from this number

Keygan works for Melnet they even call on Sunday

When the government pays their debts I will pay mine.

I think Keygan works for them.....
