Blocked calls...they have more phone numbers than you do. Moan and groan to the government, good luck with that. Answer the phone the next time they call and in your best sexiest voice as them what are they wearing? If they say, is so and so there, just say in a sexy voice, gee I wish they were, where are you, can you come over or meet me in a hotel? What ever direction they want to go, go someplace else with them.
They get minimum wages pay pennies on the dollar, take their time up. They will have a supervisor that will get pissed at them. Just a thought.
Or shut off your voice mail and ringer and just carry your phone around with you and look at the caller ID. Let the phone ring though, again that's time that they pay for- Caller: Who cares

- DanO replies to Coolbreeze15 march 23, 2015| 2 repliesI would like to join your suit and we should make it a class action and sue the pants off these morons. As of a short time to come there maybe a new law not allowing unwanted calls through your phone carrier. It was in the legislature last week.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

- karenlf replies to Bill C Ollector| 69 repliesI beg to differ...according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act the bottom feeders are not permitted by law to call outside of working hours and Saturday and Sunday are not considered a normal Monday to Friday working week....check up on the FCRA and you will see who is in the wrong here....plus calling more then once a day is considered harassment by telecommunications....this is breaking a federal law....
- karenlf replies to Upset| 1 replySaturday and Sunday are NOT considered a working day...Monday to Friday are the working week....the bottom feeders CAN NOT call you on Saturday nor Sunday, it is illegal to do so according to the FCRA....
- Alfalfa replies to karenlfActually, it is the FDCPA--and they do not specifically state that debt collectors are not allowed to call on Saturdays and Sundays. According to the law, you have to write and tell them they are not allowed to call you on Saturdays or Sundays:
§ 805. Communication in connection with debt collection [15 USC 1692c]
(a) COMMUNICATION WITH THE CONSUMER GENERALLY. Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt --
(1) at any unusual time or place or a time or place known or which should be known to be inconvenient to the consumer. In the absence of knowledge of circumstances to the contrary, a debt collector shall assume that the convenient time for communicating with a consumer is after 8 o'clock antimeridian and before 9 o'clock postmeridian, local time at the consumer's location...

Frustrating, but true, nevertheless. - BA replies to Coolbreeze15 march 23, 2015They are a creditor who buys debt from portfolio recovery! The are using old information!
- Susan replies to karenlf| 2 repliesI just received a call from this company asking for my daughter. Told them she hasn't lived here for 10 years. They said they would remove my number from their records. Interestingly enough, they called on my cell number, which I didn't even have at that time. My daughter owes nothing and has nothing negative or unpaid on her credit report and has a rating of "good."
I expect they will call again and again, regardless of the fact that they said they would remove my number. At least this heavily-accented person was very polite unlike some of these scam callers.
