email@citycards.de - Mark Walling| 2 repliesThis is the Costco auto dialer. If you have a Citi Bank credit card and in my case, didn't realize my membership fee went on to this card and thus didn't know I owed Citi Bank money, this number will be calling you. I went on Citi Banks website and confirmed the number with their support after I paid off my bill (they kindly waived one of the late fees). I don't know if they use this number for other types of calls. I don't see how it is also being reported as a scam call but if in doubt go to the source.
- Caller: Costco
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mark Walling replies to Joe CoolThought the same thing. And have to admit, getting asked for full CC number when you call is off putting. But it seems legit, and I went directly to source (Citi Bank) via their website and it turned out I owed money I didn't know about.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Mark WallingKeep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.
If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?
If your call was legit, telling about it won't be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer! - Uh, no replies to Mark WallingCostco doesn't just charge your card when it's time to renew your membership.
- Cranky Dadcalled my cell phone 8 times, stated they were Costco Citi Card and I needed to call them to clarify my account status immediately. I called both Costco and Citi Card was able to verify this is NOT any of their phone numbers. Both Citi Card and Costco were extremely helpful in looking through every directory they have to see if this was a either an old or new number and they don't have it at all. 855 is the toll free starter number for Citi but the rest is a SCAM.

It states it's a citibank bank card for Cosco. It's a scam. They don't even use their real # or the call wouldn't keep coming through since I blocked it on my phone.
