This is clearly a scam. A heavily-accented voice thanks me for being in the citibank family.  I don't have a citibank account.

I've been getting 5-6 calls a day from this number, suddenly starting about 9 days ago.  I have no accounts with Citibank or CostCo - never have had.  The call starts as a robocall which is illegal all on it's own.  After a couple of days I finally let one through and answered and it begins with a heavily accented recorded male voice stating they're from Citibank and then a bunch of stuff about CostCo than made no sense to me, probably because I'm not a customer.  I waited and finally a human came on the line - another heavily accented male voice - and I said that I wasn't a Citibank customer and asked why were they calling me.  He didn't reply, just immediately asked me for my full credit card number and social security number.  I again clearly stated that I wasn't a Citibank customer and therefore had no credit card number to give him.  And again I asked why he was calling me.  Then he changed his tactic and wanted my full name and address and social security number - all the things he'd love to have to steal my identity.  When I pointed that out to him and told him I had no intention of giving him one shred of information, he hung up.   And in case you're wondering, the robocalls continue but I forwarded them to a Google Voice number and shot them into the ether from there.   Also reported the whole thing to the FCC.  This may well be Citibank's real phone number, but this guy was no Citibank employee, believe me.  The caller ID is clearly being spoofed.  Beware!

    Zero Balance
I have zero balance on this Citi Card.  Foreign voice left voicemail asking me to sign into my account.  100% Scam.  End of conversation. Number likely spoofed.

I called the number back and got a seemingly legit auto answer bot.

I checked my Costco/Citi Bank account online and I did have a past due balance.  I know these CitiBank people were total slime and less than incompetent, do are they now dumber than telephone scammers??

This number has called me every day for the last five days. A recorded voice says the same message and offers no prompts to speak with a live person. They want me to take a survey on a credit card I don't even want and offer no option to opt out of the phone calls.

I did all the wrong things and gave them my information and paid the bill and confirmed it afterwards with the number on the back of the new Costco Citibank Visa card. So far it seems legitimate.

The fraud department usually has a different number the one listed on the back of a credit card.  You can call the number on the back of your card to see if the number that called you was legitimate.  The number might be legitimate though it could be a scammer doing the old Caller ID spoof routine.

This bill you paid - you received it in the mail, correct? You didn't just take the word of some random caller that you owed them money, did you? Because phone calls, faxes, texts, and emails are not legitimate methods of debt validation and you should NEVER give someone who calls you your information. If a caller claims you owe a debt, tell them to obey the law and mail you proof.

I got a voice mail from this number and he said he is calling from Citi Bank. A guy with a foreign accent asked to log on at www.citicards.com to review my Costco Anywhere Visa card account or call the same number if you prefer to call.

NEVER call the number they tell you to! ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card if you suspect there is a problem with your account.
