- Michael ValcheraRelentless calls from 855-805-5486
- AnonI've received OVER 30 calls/messages... possibly 50 now at my work number. I hang up, idivert.. I don't listen to any messages. I do all legitimate business via USPS. I don't trust anyone calling me repeatedly. I deal with my cc calling the number on my card. I don't allow email communication either, because I don't trust nor do I want anyone calling me because again, I don't trust. If I purchase online, I print my confirmation automatically but do not receive emails. CC or banking, I always request correspondence via USPS. Don't ever trust nor deal with anyone calling you nor emailing you out of the blue.

- Nancy| 1 replyThis is most definitely Citibank calling about the new COSTCO Visa transition. They don't need your account information because they already have it. I guess it's possible for a scammer to spoof the number and ask for your info, but with the transition many people have been having difficulties getting online to make their payments on time. The man was very nice and offered a free phone payment (although I made the payment online while talking to him instead).

- Tim| 1 replyGot a call this morning then came here and read comments. Just got another call and thought I would mess with the person. Seems like he really was from Citibank. he had all the correct info and just wanted me to know that they waived all late fees for the July payment because of the changeover but if I was 1 day late on the August payment I would incur charges again. He didn't ask for any info or want $$$.

Live female caller on other end gave name super fast in Spanish, and said Citibank. I said gr8, u can call so-and-so @ work since u MUST have the #. Tips: Credit Card Co's will announce, you don't have to ask whom it is. Also number is registered to a mobil device, and I don't know ANY Credit Card Co's who have their reps originating calls from cell's. + none of us have a Costco balance...

- aubyOf course it's a scam. If they were legit, they would call once and leave a message or talk to you. These scumbags call me at least 8 times a day, EVERY day. I've blocked them.

- Fish GuyThey have called me numerous times. I picked up once, and the man identified himself as "Mike" with Costco Anywhere Visa. Call was in reference to numerous customers who did not receive their June billing statement and I appeared to be one of them (but any balance not paid in July would not be penalized on July statement). I told him I had just received a statement in my email that morning, and I would look at it when I have time.
He wanted to know in what way I normally pay my balance (over the phone, by mail, automatic payments, or one time payment online). I thought this was peculiar because they should have a history on their end...and besides, why do they want this information if they are calling me about a "glitch" in their statement mailings??? I was very vague, and then he pressed a little more. I told him since I could not authenticate if he was REALLY with Costco/Citi Visa, I did not wish to give him any more information. He tried to press a bit more, but I told him I would take care of matters later on my own.
Here's the REALLY SCARY part...he knew EXACTLY what my balance was on my statement...I do not feel so secure with this card now.- Caller: "Mike" from Costco Anywhere Visa

- CarolWhen I got the first call from this number I immediately looked it up, before answering of course. I let them keep calling for a month straight without answering, to see how many times they'd call, which was 4 times a day. So today I decided to answer the call and see what they said. "Janine" (who later identified herself from Collections) asked how the transition was going and asked me to make a payment, as we were late. Which we are, but not because of our own fault. Amex did not send us bills for the last 2 months before the balances were transferred to Citi. I receive bills by email and didn't think about it since I didn't get an email. My guess is Amex wanted to screw Costco/Citi. We got charged a late fee from Amex, which was in the balance transferred to Citi. Citi made a late charge, then reversed it - obviously having figured out what Amex had done.
To add to the confusion, we then made a payment in full to Citi on 7/22/16. Within a week we received a check from Citi refunding us the full payment. As of today, they have no record that we made a payment or that they refunded the payment. Must have been posted to wrong account? She asked for an online payment over the phone, which I declined. I told her we would initiate the payment to make sure it was legit. She said she would note it on the account, but that we would continue to get calls until the payment went thru.
Unfortunately, I don't think their "Collections" staff is very well trained, which comes off as sounding like a scam. I'll update when I know more, but I do think it is Citi calling for past due balances, in our case at least.- Caller: "Janine" from Citi-Costco Visa Anywhere

- RedThis # called twice today. I answered the first time but didn't say Hello I just said ( Business name ) how can I help you?. I got nothing on the line so I know its a scam with an answering machine that listens for some one to say hello then it connects to a scamer on the other end. They think nobody answered so the calls stop after they try 2 or 3 times.

- Doctalked at length with fraud dept at citi; this is not their # and those on this site who state this is legit are part of the scam--a new wrinkle.
- RedThis number called my business cell twice today and called a 3ed time from a different number . They left a message that it was Citi bank saying that I need to re-establish my automatic payments with my new costco card. Its a flat out scam. Don't be fooled with the nice sounding recording. The phone number to reach them is not the same they call from nor is it the correct number for Citi banks customer service. The website they give is a fake one too it's not the one listed on the back of my card. The phone numbers are not listed in citi banks list of numbers for any of their departments. If your unsure always check the back of your card for the proper info. Never call the scammer back!

- SamanthaScam. They called me regarding a Citi Costco Visa. I do not nor have a ever had one. I told the caller I do not have a Citi card of any kind. He hung up on me. Then I get a call from 716 462-0314. Same voice asking for me again. I inform him he is barking up the wrong tree. I do not have a citi card or Costco card
- kmrthis number keeps calling me and I know it is a scam. how do I block this whoever is calling me from this number
- TheBudI have gotten this call at least once per day over the past week and a half:
Automated female voice: "Thank you for being part of the Citibank family. This is just a reminder that if you've had automatic or reoccurring payments set up with American Express, in order to continue making automatic payments, you will need to reestablish automatic payments directly with Citibank. We know you are busy, but if you could please take a few minutes to login at www.citicards.com (but sounded like "www.ccards.com", to review your Costco Anywhere Visa Card account status, it would be appreciated. If you would prefer to call us, please feel free as it's always great to get a chance to speak with one of our valued clients. Our toll-free number is 1-855-805-5486. Once again, thanks for being a valued Citibank customer."
Finally, today, I called them from another phone. The automated voice that answered asked "please speak or touch tone your credit card number now". When I did nothing, it transferred me, but asked for me to have my credit card or social security number handy. The (human) lady on the phone was not convincing and asked for my phone number. I still refused. I played the voice mail above for her. She said that it was indeed Citibank and this is their "Customer Service" phone number. She finally suggested that I call the phone number on the back of my credit card when I would not give her any more information.
So, I did. They confirmed that the calls were coming from Citibank - and, in fact, that we are past due. They were checking to see if had set up automatic payments with American Express because that information did not transfer to Citibank from AmEx. Everybody would have to re-set-up their automatic payments. He confirmed that it was "www.citicards.com" and not "www.ccards.com"
I will do that online with my known Citibank website. It sure sounded just like a scam until the end though.
Bottom line: Call the number on the back of your credit card. Simple as that.- Caller: Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citibank
