I got the same email except it was for a 2004 toyota camry w/ 34k miles on it, same story but they actually sent me the vin#.  Name on the email was from a Tiffany + Dean Parker. I didn't reply to the email after getting a response for my inquiry, thought it was strange so started researching it and found this site. Thank you

I actually fell for this unfortunately I sold my car just to send the money to this person and I even took money from my college tuition now i have to wait because i don't have enough money to go to school. This is horrible that they are doing this and it seems like no one is doing anything about it.

I found a car on craigslist allegedly being sold by Laura Simpson, also. This time it is a 2001 Mazdaspeed Protege for $2500. Sounded too good to be true, and it is. After too many vaugue and inconsistent answers, I dug deeper. Didn't take me long to find the exact same car for sale by a dealer in FL for $11k. A quick google of the name brought me to this page.

I'll be speaking to my local police department tomorrow to see how to proceed. I'd really like it if police used to sting operation by completing my purchase in order to catch these ******** in the act.

I'm in touch with the same alleged person over a different car found on craigslist. I found the car (2001 Mazdaspeed Protege) listed by a dealer in FL. I suggest this: did you get a Photobucket gallery of pics for the car? Look carefully for a dealer name in the photos, especially on the license plate holder (that's where I found mine). Then google the dealer name that you see. It's likely that you'll find the car for sale by that dealer. In my case, the car "Laura Simpson" is offering for $2500 is retailing for $11k.

I replied to inform them that I would only purchase the car with my mechanic looking at it first, and they wouldn't even need to pay shipping costs, because I would go to them, and pick it up; take it to a mechanic; and then decide to buy.

I was kind of taken aback when they said that their son had died in a drunk driving accident, and for some reason, I just decided to google around and just try and find the story. I found this site with these searchwords, car accident '19' 'fiance'. I am underage, and I was very interested in purchasing the vehicle. This is disgusting.

There are 44 pages of complaints on this site about this scheme/fraud, so why is nothing being done about it? I'm sure people have repeatedly reported this to the police, etc, so what's being done?

I almost just got scammed buying a motorcycle with a story about how it was their son's and he just died in Afghanistan. The wording in the story was identical. it was from Mr. and Mrs. Feeney.  I'm glad I looked this site up.

i got the same exact story... but a different vehicle...and different name the people were vanessa thomson and her husband... this is so sad is there any way that we can report these crazy people..

I got this scam from a jet ski ad. "Caroline Parker". I sent them an email telling them how sick that is. They said that their son died from a car accident going to his little brothers birthday party. I hope they get caught. So many people have gotten ripped off.

I got a very good car deal too with the same story, I confronted the seller about it not being on ebay and wanting it through the ebay buyer protection, i am still waiting for a reply. I believe you can report them on craigslist for being spam.
