- Kasey replies to Kathy Vargas| 8 repliesIt is extremely hard for me to believe this post as an actual parent of a bride to be. The quote"Listen kids... Not all companies are scams" sounds way to scripted to me. I feel like there are several fake responses on this particular subject. I have no idea if this company is or is not a scam. I am sure that as with any company their primary goal is to sell to as many customers as possible. as with any promotion i assume the gifts are not as good as we would like them to be but they are gifts to entice us to view a product. The Only thing that concerns me about this thread is there just so many posts that seem fake, doctored, or planted. Just my thoughts and observations. By the way, i did do some digging and found the owner of Chef World Inc, also is the president of Your Net Plus (an internet service provider type company) and VIP Vacations (a company that sells travel gifts to marketing companies.
- Robyn| 4 repliesi just got the same phone call as you all did. i checked out the chef world website as well as the website of the resort they go through (which was very MIXED reviews) i might just go to the demonstration with my fiance on sat but im not sure yet. the only thing i entered to win was bridesmaid dresses from david's bridal so im assuming thats how they got my number. i'll let you know what the deal is if i go.

- Susan replies to KaseyKasey...I Did some digging by going to their seminar and received a his and hers matching watch set,Viva Resort vacation voucher and a grocery coupon card. The presentation we interesting but, I didn't purchase anything. Scam...no.just an advertising campaign they offer.
- Concerned replies to Robyn| 2 repliesI've heard through the grapevine the local NY news is sending a reporter into one of there seminars undercover. Watch for the story in the coming weeks and months. Aparently this company is not disclosing the whole truth upfront as they should about the gifts etc..
- Suspicious!| 3 repliesWe got the same type of phone call just the other day. Maybe it says something that typing "Chef World Inc" into Google immediately brings up "Chef World Inc Scam" as one of the top listings. Here's what else I find suspicious:
1) The website for this company looks nice, but the "Contact" screen is only a form where you can enter your own information. There appears to be no way to get in contact with anyone directly.
2) Their website doesn't mention any names of any corporate personnel, or where they are based.
3) You can see their description and pictures of their "manufacturing facility", yet there is no indication of where it is located. Except for the Asian personnel in the background.
4) When the woman contacted us, we wanted to call back at a later time. The woman on the phone wouldn't give us a contact number, and instead said she would contact us again later.
5) The bridal show we went to was several months ago. I would expect to get contacted right away about any "prizes", not half a year later.
6) There appears to be another website that looks almost exactly the same as the one for "Chef World Inc", and it's under "Cook World". This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but what's up with it? Is one, both, or neither legit? Either way, you can't find anything about them online, other than their two websites. And this one, where everyone is suspicious.

7) Why do all the "different" people on this thread that endorse Chef World use "..." in their responses? Maybe just a coincidence?
Well, my conclusion is that a legit business would have more references on the internet than this one does. Perhaps it's legit, and if so, my apologies to them. But seriously, they need to find a more legit-sounding way to advertise than suspicious unsolicited phone calls from nameless people that can't be reached or called back. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Besides, I'm going to be too busy collecting my Nigerian lottery winnings to get involved in this any further. : )- Call type: Telemarketer
- Joan Campbell replies to Lauren| 1 replyMe and my fiance attended the 90 minute seminar and received their promotional package. We enjoyed the presentation and the gifts were great. We purchased a set of cookware at a great price.....
- Michael Mack replies to Suspicious!| 1 replyI have a great Idea Lets try to destroy this Chefworld company. Lets find any dirt on their owner also. May be we can uncover that his or her 3rd cousin got caught with a DWI. Come on America lets go get them...How dare they try do to business in this country. Lets put more people on unemployment....How dare this company offer a promotion package and try to market their products! Come on gang lets go get them.....and yes I own a small business and I'm scared to death of where our country is heading.
- Michael Mack replies to Concerned| 1 replyWow the Media on a witch hunt...That's refreshing. They may uncover a business offering a promotion to sell their products...oh my. My suggestion is to go see for your self instead of spreading rumors. I'm a proud native American very concerned about negative blogging and what we are doing to our business owners and economy. I own a small auto parts store and want to let you know that some consumers are never satisfied. Maybe we should do a news story John Doe the unsatisfied consumer....
- John Giamarco| 3 repliesHey Mike...You hit the nail on the head. The word scam seems to be the in thing to say with these bloggers.I'm glad I'm not dealing with the public. You want to do business with a company or not, it's your choice. If you don't, move on. It seems we love negative chatter these days...
- dying industryTelemarketers, even the small number of legitimate ones, work in dying industry. The telephone is becoming a less effective marketing platform as each day passes. Many legitimate businesses have moved on, and the few who remain are not going to be able to rise above the the fact that this has become such a popular platform for scammers. Many people immediately distrust any kind of "offer" that's delivered over the phone, and it's a rational decision in that there's a better than 50-50 chance that the caller is in fact running some sort of scam.
If you work in this dying industry, perhaps it's time for you to move on as well. If ALL telemarketing/survey calls were made illegal, then everyone one of us would be better off, because it would be even clearer than it is today that anyone who tries to "sell" or "give" or "ask" you something over the phone is running a scam. Probably won't happen until the industry's lobbying dollars dry up as their business dries up. Such calls are inherently intrusive, offensive, unnecessary, and to an increasing extent dangerous due to the abuse of scammers. If this is your line of work, get out, or be prepared to endure the ever-increasing rage of the innocent victims of your intrusive jobs. - JJJInteresting...I got their call 2 weeks ago, but then the rep had to cancel the promotion they were having due to a death in the family. She called back and rescheduled for tonight. My fiance and I are going to go and then I'll be better able to put in my opinion. As long as we are prepared NOT to buy ANYTHING and get gifts for going-----I really don't think that it falls into the category of a SCAM. I guess we'll see...

- moonlitrose25I got a call from Chef World, said that I registered with them at a Bridal Show I went to a few months ago. Said I had a choice of prize, either two his & hers watch, a 3 Day 2 Night vacation to Mexico, Dominican or Bahamas or 23 different places in the US. Also I get a $1000 grocery coupon Card and get to scratch off a lotto ticket. All I have to do is attend a 90 min. demonstration with no obligation to buy. Sounds shady but I don't know. I can't find anything about them being a scam. The lady I talked to was very nice and told me where they were having seminars and I told her they were too far away and that she would call back when they were in my area. She also gave me her number if I wanted to contact them about any other locations. I might go and see what it's about but I am leaving my money and credit cards at home.

- Sarah| 5 repliesI recently went to a bridal show and I put my name in atleast 15 baskets for free prizes so when I received the 2 phone calls, they told me the date & location of the bridal show that they got my info from. I listend to the speech on the phone, didnt give any info that they didnt already have (my name & number), they told me I won 2 free watches, a 3 day 2 night trip, and 1000 to grocery stores. only requirement is that I go to this 90 min presentation and even if i dont purchase anything, ill get the package. I was wary of this, but it seems legit. I am going tonight w my fiance, Ill let you know! i even called the hotel and asked them if this company was actually holding meetings at their establishment and they said yes... we'll see!
- skepticalbriderc replies to Sarah| 4 repliesHas anyone gone to one of the seminars and received the prize? If so, were they valid?
- Dorothy W. replies to LaurenWe went to their presentation....it was very informative. They have a excellent bridal registry program. They also have a very good set of health cookware, We became their customer and are thrilled with quality and pricing. We also received a his and hers set of watches.
- Marty Amico replies to ccsI just had to answer your CCS.....call them and let them know you are not interested...lol
- Fred| 2 repliesHey guys,
I went to the seminar... it was legit but the guy was saying all this stuff about how their cookware was the best and healthy and cut time in half... I can't believe we bought the set, but WE DID!? Not even knowing much about the company? I'm really upset now b/c I can't find much information about them? Anybody actually get the product and use it yet?? - laurie replies to FredFred...I purchased the cookware 3 months ago.....they are fantastic!
- Medina replies to LaurenJust received our chefworld cookware and I'm very pleased with the quality and weight of the product. I can't wait to use it in September after my honeymoon
- skeptical2 replies to Suspicious!I agree completely, especially about the "different" employees, oops-- I mean endorsers-- of ChefWorld on this site.
I've been getting calls from ChefWorld for three months now, from all different numbers and different states even. When I look up the numbers on whitepages reverse phone search, it brings up a residential listing.
But the thing that convinces me the most that this is at worst a scam (I've read forums about people getting invoices months after the seminar for things they thought they didn't buy), and at best a deceptive scheme, is that they're SO persistent in contacting us.
If I really won a great prize, and they couldn't get in touch with me, they'd be passing it on down the line to the next person on the list-- not calling me twice a week for three months straight like a crazy desperate ex.
