I just moved to my new house and my phone company gave me a new number. The same day I got my line working, I have been receiving calls from this number and others; I have never got calls from companies like that. But later, I remember that my last number was in the Do Not Call list, so I went to my computer and registered my new number. It took a month for the calls to stop, but hopefully I will never receive a call from these people again.

Interesting the commments from this number 1-866-209-7845, I work in Mexico for a USA company, I don't live in USA, have no social security number, and no cars registered with insurance company in US, I receive the call to a phone extension here in Mexico. Please ignore them so these guys are really trying to threat badly, and report these calls.

totally annoying.. calling late at nite, or early in the emorning..
my vehicle has almost 200k miles on it, im guessing the warranty is no longer of any use.

This number called my cell phone, and a machine said something about it being the second warning that the warranty on my car was about to expire before I hung up.

It's the annoying message regarding my car warranty.  I got this from various numbers.

Can we do anything about it at all?  Any suggestions?

I get the same calls to and decided to google it as well and found this site... Obviously its a problem, and they leave stupid messages.  Next time they call tell them to remove you from there list or you will report them to the federal communications commission if they call again.  There is a law called can-spam, if they call you after being told not to they can get fined or imprisonment...

keep getting  these calls on my land phone as well  as my cell with very rude persons or no answer ...

Verizon Wireless said yesterday it has filed a lawsuit to stop a Utah-based telemarketing firm from calling its customers.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Trenton, alleges that Feature Films for Families -- which bills itself as an entertainment distribution company -- illegally used an autodialer to make nearly 500,000 calls to Verizon Wireless subscribers.

When customers answered the calls, which were made to their cell phones over a 10-day period earlier this month, they heard a pre-recorded message advertising the upcoming movie "The Velveteen Rabbit." The calls were made on behalf of Family 1 Films, the Los Angeles-based company that produced the movie, the lawsuit said.

Verizon said many of the calls were made in rapid succession from the same telephone number, indicating the use of an autodialer. Nearly 11,000 calls were made in less than an hour from the same phone number, with an average of one call every 0.32 seconds.

The lawsuit charges violations of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which makes it illegal to use an autodialer to call wireless phones. Other allegations include violations of the state Consumer Fraud Act and invasion of privacy laws.

Matt Cooper, legal counsel for Feature Films for Families, said an autodialer was not used to make the calls.

"The advertising campaign abided by all applicable federal and state laws, and its intention was to get the word out about this wonderful family film," he said, declining to comment further on the issue.

Verizon Wireless, based in Basking Ridge, has filed several lawsuits in recent years against telemarketers targeting its subscribers. In some instances, the company was unable to identify the telemarketers. Many of the lawsuits were settled, some are pending and some were dismissed.

Customers often call Verizon to complain and to request credits for the airtime used by telemarketers, causing the company to "incur significant additional costs," the lawsuit stated. Verizon is seeking $500 in damages for each violation of TCPA.

"We take our customers' privacy very seriously, which is why we're so aggressive in tracking down these rogue telemarketers," said Verizon spokesman Howard Waterman, adding that the company does not release subscriber phone numbers to third parties. "They need to understand that there are grave consequences for their actions."

It could be the phone company using up your phone time.

Called my home phone and now my cell phone about my warranty going bad on my car. My warranty ends once my car was over 70,000 miles or 5 years. It's a scam call.

They've called both my home and my cell with the same pathetic lame story about my warranty expiring.  Just get a freakin job man.  Have some self respect for God's sake.

Auto caller called my cell phone indicating that "this is the second notice that the factory warranty" on my car is about to expire.  This is a fabricated scare tactic.  I do not have a car warranty, let alone one that is about to expire.  This is definitely either a fishing expedition or a phishing scam.  Don't answer calls from this number.  Even if the service were legit, I would not do business with a company that rounds up business in this manner.  They need to be shut down.  800Notes is a great site!

Now if only I could get this information fast enough while my phone is still ringing so I could know whether or not to even answer.

Better yet, wouldn't it be great if phone companies gave you a personal scam list for you to manage? It would allow you to to add this type of call so that next time the jerks call they would automatically be forwarded to the FTC.

IDK who these people are and why they're preying on innocent americans that just happen to have a phone number I just got my car a few months ago and i can;t even drive it yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
