- Johnthe caller says she is from FIA Card services, that she wants to sell some sort of credit card fraud protection to the card holder (me) and she goes on and on. I told her to stop sending me blank cash advance checks with my statement....she said I would have to contact FIA card customer service. She didn't have the number. I believe she was actually a boiler room caller who is working with a list of card holders from FIA card serivces.
- How to make calls stop...| 1 replyPeople are getting phone calls when they are on the National Do Not call list on behalf of Bank of America. This is true and NOT illegal. When the National Do Not Call list was put into effect, there was an exception made for companies with which you have an exsisting business relationship. A lot of people don't even realize they have a Bank of America card since they issue cards under multiple names, but that doesn't change the fact that they have the right to call their customers.
As far as who does their marketing, there are several vendors who make outbound calls for Bank of America, and every one of them passes on the 1-866-228-8944 phone number. When you call that number back you are going to reach Synergy Solutions. Synergy has been hired to take calls for this number regardless of what company made the outbound call.
Really people need to realize that Synergy Solutions, and other companies that are making calls to Bank of America cardholders are doing so on behalf of Bank of America. Bank of America has contracted them to make these calls to offer a service called Privacy Assist Premier. Bank of America didn't sell people's information, and in fact are paying to have these calls made.
Lastly for those of you who complain that they have gotten this call several times, but never answer, you need to realize that the calls will never stop unless you request for them to. A forum like this is pretty much worthless since very few people know about it. The easiest way to stop these calls, or any unwanted calls for that matter is to answer the phone, or call the number on the caller ID back and ask to be placed on the Do Not Call list. Keep track of who you spoke to for future reference and realize that these people don't want to call you if you aren't going to buy from them. 8 words... Put me on your do not call list. - sharonCalls every morning. Never leaves a message. If I answer, no one responds.
- John RPast 60 days from when I told them to stop calling. Will not stop calling. Have called more than 5x to ask them to stop. Each time they tell me "okay, thank you. It will take up to 30 days," but they keep calling and 60+ days past my last request. Call Bank of America and closed my account.

- LindaThey call all the time. I am on the Do Not Call list but I have accounts with Bank of America (I have recently asked BofA to take me off ALL their lists but their wheels of progress apparently move very slowly in these matters). The company who called is Synergy Solutions calling "on behalf of" Bank of America.
Get this: shen I asked Synergy to take me off of their list, they asked for my name and home address. When I refused to give my home address on the grounds that such personal information was invasive and unnecessary, they told me they CANNOT take my phone number off the list without it. When I asked for Synergy's address, "Brandon Smack" at Synergy would not give it to me. He said he didn't know it, can you believe that? When I asked again to be removed from their list, Brandon still refused unless I gave him my home address. When I continued to demand to be removed without providing my home address, I was given to a "supervisor" who told me the same thing but then went ahead and took me off the list anyway even though I did not give my home address--so apparently it CAN be done, but they just don't want to.
Why on Earth would anyone want to give out their home address to these pests? This doesn't even sound legal to me. It's unethical at the very least.
I called Synergy's corporate office and spoke with someone there who stated that the requirement to give a home address was Bank of America's, that it is "scripted" by Bank of America. Perhaps this is true. I'm going to go ahead and pretend that it is -- and for that I'm going to move everything, all my money and my credit cards to Washington Mutual across the street. I have been doing business with them for years and have NEVER had a single harrassing phone call "on their behalf."- Caller: Synergy Solutions

- SteveI recieved a call today and called into the service area. The person that answered was professional. They identified the company they worked for as Synergy Solutions on behalf of Bank of America regarding a Privacy Assist program. They explained the offer and i accepted the service. Protecting my identity by all 3 credit reports for $12.99/month seems pretty reasonable.

- Jeff| 1 replyThe company is Synergy Solutions, an outsource company for telemarketing services. When I called back the person insisted on having my name and address so they can remove me. I refused to give it. I went to their website which lists the email addresses for every call center manager and their president. I sent an email to every person demanding to be removed. I received a reply within an hour. They had the name of people who had my phone number a year ago. I think I got to them.

- SarahI got this same call, but it wasn't from Synergy. It was from another company called Americall. They were very rude, and told me that they were not going to honor my request to not be called because I had a Bank of America card, and that they would keep calling until I accepted their service. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and the rep I was speaking with told me he had my information, and would be calling me soon and hung up. I called the number back, and reached a representative from Synergy Solutions. The representative from Synergy was very polite, and explained why the representative from Americall was calling, and that the rep didn't have any personal information like my social sercurity number or account number. The Synergy rep also offered to have my name removed even though I wasn't called by Synergy, and also passed my experience on to Bank of America so they could look into this Americall company. My experience went from being a horrible experience with Americall to being a very good experience because I called Synergy. I read a lot of posts bashing Synergy, and wish everyone could have had the same experience I had with Synergy.

- Luke| 1 replyI have been receiving those calls as well and am on the National Do Not Call List. I called Synergy Solutions from the number on my Caller ID and really let the woman that answered the phone have it. To her credit (and my surprise), she remained professional and explained to me that because I was an MBNA customer (who is now Bank of America), that I was part of an exemption called an Existing Business Relationship and that was why Synergy was legally calling on behalf of Bank of America. I was certain she had no idea what she was talking about so I told her to never call me again and hung up on her. I later did some reserach and copied the following from the FCC.gov's website which I have listed below. This mornning I called the Synergy Caller ID number back and apologized. It was a good lesson though. The next time I get so angry that I want to verbally abuse someone who has done nothing to me and is only doing their job, I will ensure that I have all the facts.
An EBR exists if you have made an inquiry, application, purchase, or transaction regarding products or services offered by the person or entity involved. Generally, you may put an end to that relationship by telling the person or entity not to place any more solicitation calls to your home. Additionally, the EBR is only in effect for 18 months after your last business transaction or three months after your last inquiry or application. After these time periods, calls placed to your home phone number(s) by that person or entity are considered telephone solicitations subject to the do-not-call rules.- Caller: Synergy Solutions
