Missed a call and decided to call back to see who it was. A guy said he is from Verizon, and they wanted me to renew their contract. Then he proceeded asking all kinds of personal questions. My contract with Verizon doesn't expire for another 5 months, and since I am their customer they have all the information they need, and there is no need to supply it again. So, I told the guy this. He was very pushy, but I did not break. Was it a fraud call? I don't know.

pretty obnoxious people, tried to get me to re-up my cell with the new every two deal except I have a smart phone and they wanted me to upgrade with a regular cell phone. :/ dorks

called no message, called back no one responded when we answered the phone.  Called back number and it was some guy named dave or john who said this has been happening to him alot even though he said his number was a different area code.

These people are real Donkey's. I'm a Verizon customer and still they want your telephone number a Social Security. I told them I wasn't born yesterday and I'm not stupid. If i want a new plan i wil just call Verizon myself. Don't give these people nothing. Tell them That you're name is George Bush. If they call me again my name is Bill Clinton.

My dad was outside unloading the car when I heard the phone ring. I said hello but no one answered after saying hello about 10 times a lady responds hi is your dad home? I said yes and got my dad. My dad picked up the phone and the lady said she was from verizon and we needed to renew our phones so we could get 100 free more minutes. My dad we already renewed them. She said oh yeah I see you did that on July 7th (even though we did it in June). While she was apologizing for having late acces to the records my dad hung up. So whatever you do if they call you back dont answer and report it.

I received calls from 1-866-259-3883 every night for 2 weeks.  No one was ever on the other end of the phone, their predictive dialer and screen pops must have been offline or malfunctioning.  I finally reached a representative from Verizon Wireless (at their real customer service number) who informed me that Verizon is paying an outside vendor to solicit customers who are nearing the end (within 6 months) of their contract.  This company is paid to up-sell Verizon services to existing customers.  They do not offer the best deal or plans, and they will lock you into a long-term deal, through them (not directly through Verizon).  This is not a good service, don't give them information and ask them to add you to the DNC (do not call) list.

call from 866-259-3883.  didn't answer since i didn't recognize the #.  no message was left.   everyone i know -- leaves me a message.   I'm grateful for this post .. i'll mark them DNC

Yeah, I have been getting the same call but no answer.  I haven't been picking up since.  These calls have come to me randomly throughout the day some even at 1am when I am asleep, or at a meeting.  I have my phone on silent, so they will not interrupt me.

Yep! Said they were promotions dept for verizon. Said it would take 30 days to take me off the list. Lets see.

Appears on my caller ID with no message left on 8/4/07

Received call on 8/9/07 at 12:20 hours. I hesitated to answer and when I did, nobody was there. Verizon should be spanked.

These guys have called me over 50 times in the past two months.  The first time I didn't pick up because I didn't recognize the number.  They called the next day, and they didn't hang the phone up completely and left a long message of a bunch of people talking in the background.  After this I never picked up again, but until seeing this never realized who it was that was doing this.  Thanks for the information on this.

This is the second time I've received this call from this number. After a significant delay, it's someone representing Verizon attempting to sell me more service. I tell them our contracts are taken care of at corporate and I don't know the details.

This # called a few minutes ago @ 2:17 Eastern. I of course didn't pick up. (I hate telemarketers with a passion & am suspicious of these types of #'s)
When my answering machine's greeting concluded, I heard a mature female voice say "Mr._____? Mr_____????? (she sounded annoyed, BTW)
And then she hung up.
I hate that :(
Glad to NOW know it's Verizon & I will tell my husband so he can avoid answering if he's home next time :)
They probably WERE wanting us to renew our wireless contract, as it's up @ the end of next month. Jury's still out on what we will do for a provider....

Have been getting these calls too lately.  I have call ID and often call the numbers back.  When I called this # I couldn't even understand the greeting message as to what the name of the company was.  This is when I googled the number and found these posts.  These people are relentless.  Next time I will tell them off and call verizon to give them a piece of my mind!  Peace to you all :)

I have been getting a call from this number for a while now. The first time I called the number back, they said they were Hillcrest Hospital. They called back another time and said they were Verizon Wireless about a contract. At this point, I just hung up the phone. This is the funny thing.....I DON'T HAVE VERIZON.

I got one of these today on my TracFone (don't even have Verizon) My phone tells me the number of the person calling, but no name, so I did a Google search on the number and found this board.

Just program the number into your cell phone with the name
"Do Not Answer". 1-866-259-3883
Then save it to your cell phone book.
The next time they call, you cell will display the name
"Do Not Answser"
No you have a reminder NOT to touch the phone.
