I have been getting non-stop calls from 866-259-3883. I googled the number and found this site (and many more). I just called Verizon (1-800-922-0204) and asked to be put on their do not call list. The gentleman was very polite and asked if I would like to opt out of the regular mail/emails/text as well. They really aren't a bother to me with those so I said no but the calls are driving me nuts. He apologized more than once and took care of it for me. We will see if it actually works! According to the website they do have 30 days in which to remove it so I will just have to suck it up for that time period and wait it out. It's worth a try!! :-)

Just got on the do not call registry today--You do not have to renew on the national regsitry --your number stays rgistered untill you remove it or you discontinue service for the registered number.

Received call from 866-259-3883 "unavailable" She wanted my password for Verizon wireless. I don't even know about a password for Verizon. She told me to go on line and get one and she would call back. Since my caller id said "unavailable" why should I even believe it was from Verizon? Don't ever give out social security number or passwords to anyone!!!!

Verizon, Verizon what a shame, I have been a customer for over 12 years and I keep getting these harassing phone calls about renewing my contract, I don't have a contract and I don't want one.  They do because then they can charge you if you change companies.  So know I just tell them to hold on and leave them hanging to waist their time like they waist mine.

    Im Sorry
I (sadly) work for Infocision Mgt. which is contracted to make these calls. First we are not permitted by Verizon to leave voice mails or messages until the 4th and 8th calls to the numbers that we are given to call....I apologize for this but if we want to keep our jobs (which most of us really dont, but there arent too many any other jobs in this area)we have to follow Verizon rules. PLEASE...the best way to get these calls to stop is to answer the phone and ask us to take you off the call list or call us back at 866-259-3883 and ask us to take you off the call list. Picking up and hanging up just throws your # back into the auto dialer and you will continue to be called. We really do not enjoy calling the same people day after day, we are just trying to pay our bills as you are. If I could find another job in this area I would BELIEVE ME!!!

I work for Infocision also. Verizon pays us to do their dirty work. They have us calling people 5-6 months in advance to renew their agreements. If you get a call and you have just renewed or got a new phone I apologize, the records Verizon gives us are not up to date! It sometimes takes Verizon 30 days to update our phone records! If you are on the DNC list, it doesnt matter, if you are a Verizon customer they can legally contact you or have us contact you until you tell US to take you of the Verizon calling list. This will be done by anyone speaking with you but again, it can take up to 30 days before Verizon updates the records so you may get contacted again before the 30 days are up.

yea, i got several calls from them... seems to be 3rd party on behalf of verizon... i finally had enough and went to tell them off but the  young man i talked to was actually rather informative and honest... said he was callin outta somewhere in ohio that does contract renewing for verizon... didnt upsell me, just gave me a extra 100 minutes on my plan.  never asked for my number or anything. i dont have a password so he asked to verify the last 4 of my social.  everything else he just reconfirmed w/ me.  saved me a trip to the store in all honesty.  beats gettin calls from india.

Sorry pal, telemarketers will ALWAYS be hated.  Everyone who isn't a telemarketer understands this.  Everyone who is a telemarketer can't pull their head out of their ass long enough to realize that even people who dig ditches for a living couldn't go to sleep at night if they had to work as a telemarketer.  That's why they dig ditches instead of doing telemarketing.  The skill set is basically the same...but nobody hates you for digging ditches.

Just called Verizon and they played dumb as usual. I recently cancelled DSL and my antique phone line so this is how they harrass you. I also have two cell phones with verizon but if this call harrassment continues, I will cancel them as well and be done with Verizon for ever. This is BS!

    I hope they READ this!

It's one thing to do a good job. It's a complete different thing to keep calling after you've requested they stop. It's when your nice and they still keep calling is why people hate them. Besides I have T-mobile now and they still keep calling.

I received a call purporting to be from Verizon Wireless, but the caller-ID showed "Unavailable" and the phone number showed 866-259-3883. I hung up on the caller and then called Verizon Wireless myself. I was told that the caller was legitimate, a company called "Kitany" who Verizon Wireless has engaged for marketing services and that the subject phone number was really of that company. Note!!! That does NOT mean that MY caller was necessarily legitimate since the caller-ID's phone number display can be spoofed. In any case, I told Verizon Wireless that I wanted no more calls from that source and they removed my name from that company's calling list. We'll see!

I have been getting calls from these people as well. Someone should submit this thread to verizon so they can see how many people are annoyed at how they are handling thier customers. Its not like there arent other options in terms of cell carriers out there.

As previously reported by others, the calls are from a third party agent for Verizon Wireless. In my case they have been calling 3 times a week since I started keeping track on Feb. 20, 2009.

I contacted Verizon Wireless (who I do have an account with) at 800-922-0204 and told them the issue. They placed me on there do not call list and said it would take 10 min. to be active.

since that call I received two more calls from their agent (the ones who keep calling from the 866 number) and I called them back.

Them:  May I have your phone number
Me:  Why do you keep calling me three times a week.
    Them:  Is this Mr. xxxxx
Me:  See, you didn't need my phone number

Well it went down from there. I told them I had already contacted Verizon Wireless to complain and be placed on the companies do not call list. The 866 person claimed it would take 30 days I said Bull I was told it would take 10 min.

I then informed them that if I am contacted again, I would file complaints with the FTC, BBB, State Attorney General, and contact Verizon Wireless saying that they will be losing a customer at the end of my contract specifically because of this agent.

    We will see what happens.
