- New car ownerI wonder why they don't leave a message. When I got my new car it had a trial subscription to sirus radio. I never applied for it - I guess the dealership shared my info with them, because they are calling me to renew - as it will end in January... bye bye pay for the radio - not me! I have not answered the call - as I do not answer 800, 866, 888 from my cell phone - I assume however...
- LuminaryI was checking the block list on my smartphone for something else and see that this phone number has called me five times in the past five days. Are these people insane or what? How awful for them that I have no idea at all that they've phoned me, because their phone calls are blocked. I sure hope there is a real person on the other end who is getting paid for making the effort to dial my phone number on a daily basis. I wonder who that person is? Perhaps a single mother who is desperate to earn enough money to buy Christmas gifts for her children? Maybe a young person who is working three jobs in order to pay his/her rent?
But, I digress...
I am thinking that this has something to do with switching my satellite TV to a provider that recently laid fiber optic cable in my neighborhood. I am not going to mention names, because those nut jobs will sue for sullying their fine public images. Despite all of the junk mail both entities send to me (that immediately goes into the trash), I guess that they figure I might be more willing to send them my money if they actually talk to me.
hahahahahahaha.
I would be glad to help out the single mother or the young person who is a member of the 99%, but I do not do radio, ever.- Caller: Dunno - never answered any of their calls
- Another Sirius User replies to siriususerAh that makes sense if it is Sirius. I recently canceled the debit car that they have on file. Now I will talk to them and see if they can convince me to keep the service. In my case the number looked strange because of how it was broken up. ( +86 62976863 ). I couldn't imagine who it was.
- Stuart AlterSirius Radio - apparently who's number this is - is harrassing me about subscribing

- Lawrence MoranI am getting unwanted unlawfully harassing calls from this phone number. I want them to stop immediately and to have my name and number deleted from their databases and unshared with any other person or entity.
- Caller: Sirius satellite radio
- Im coolif you have an android you can just add the number as a contact and save it. then send the calls from that number straight to vmail.... no ring, no annoyance :)
- Caller: serious?
- TomThey've been calling me multiple times a day - mostly every half hour between 5-7PM - since my complementary subscription is about to expire at the end of this month (came with the new car).
I told the person on the other end of the call I did not want to subscribe and asked that my name be put on their DO NOT CALL list. They hung up. Thought that was the end of it. Then they started calling again the next day. Why don't these people take no for an answer and leave me alone? Now I screen all my calls and if I see that number I don't answer. I just wonder how long this is going to go on? They have to give up eventually, won't they? They won't leave voicemail. I even hooked up a telezapper that plays the DO-DA-DEE to disrupt their computer predictive dialing system but they still keep calling.
Next car I buy won't have Sirius. I don't want their service, and I don't want to be bother by them anymore.- Caller: Sirius satellite radio

There are reasons that these things happen. I actually worked for DialAmerica doing this, and while I'll admit that there are sometimes things that the company does that might seem dishonest, a great deal of the problem is because of miscommunication and the fact that people don't listen. Here are a few examples:
1. People complain because they get called after requesting not to be called.
---We were REQUIRED to inform all customers that their number would be taken off the list as soon as possible, but that it can take a few weeks for the number to process through all of our systems. It has to be taken off DialAmerica's databases (multiple), which means multiple calling programs, multiple locations, and also has to be taken off of Sirius' database. This takes time. Most people hang up before the rep has a chance to inform them of this (note, we are STILL REQUIRED to read the whole verbiage, regardless of whether the person is still on the phone) and then complains when they are called the next couple of days. When the rep tries to tell them "We tried to tell you this could happen" what do they do? Scream "Don't call me again", again don't listen to what the rep has to say, and the process starts all over again.
2. Sirius calls over and over again
--The ONLY way to get yourself to stop being called is to actually answer the phone and say "please don't call me again" if you hang up, yell that you don't want it and then hang up, or (my favorite) press the buttons on the phone to try to make the rep, who is just trying to pay rent, go deaf, the rep will have to put you back in the system because you did not request not to be called. Sorry.
3. Sirius is breaking the law.
--Simply not true. DialAmerica is VERY careful about making sure that its employees say everything they're legally obligated to say. A lot of the times people don't hear or don't understand the verbal contract they're agreeing to, but with some exceptions, in which case the employee would probably be fired, everything is said right there during the phone call. Customers agree to be charged over and over on their cards. Reps say these exact words: "The plan automatically renews and bills and the rates in effect at the time of each renewal. What that means is that your subscription will continue until you call us to cancel. Ok?" And they then provide a phone number. And what do people say? They say "Ok."
4. They don't leave messages.
--Yes, this is true and it's for a very simple reason. Most sales/fundraising companies do not leave answering machine messages. This is normal, and simply done because people never answer messages anyway and most sales come from a direct contact, so it's a waste of the company's time and money to leave a message.
5. I told them I didn't want it and they keep calling me.
--See #2
6. Sirius is calling me even though I'm on the do not call list
--Yes that's probably true. But they're calling you as a company that you have a pre-existing relationship with which means the do not call list doesn't apply. When you signed up for that free trial, or you signed up for the service, you gave Sirius your phone number and agreed to Sirius Satellite Radio's terms and conditions, which if you bothered to read, I'm sure would inform you that you agreed to be called.
7. Sirius calls and then hangs up/Sirius' phone number comes up as unavailable
--This is a quirk of technology. The call centers that DialAmerica uses don't have a normal inbound/outbound phone line like the one you'd have at home. Most people expect that the guy on the other side is sitting with a phone in his hand at a desk, but that's not true. They're sitting in rows with headsets, attached to computers, which are in turned connected to a single dialer machine that parcels out all the leads. Each computer has its own phone number, but it's not a number that comes up as Sirius because internally, it's coming through as one of 80 or so different connections. The reason Sirius hangs up when you answer is just bad timing. There's a certain amount of time that a caller will wait for a phone to ring before moving on to the next call. This is complicated by cell phones, which the caller will not actually hear ringing at all, but will just wait until there's a voice on the other end, or move on to the next call. It's just a matter of timing, you probably pick up the phone right when the caller is disconnected and moving onto the next person. It's just something that happens. - John replies to John8. "I'm supposed to have a free trial!"
--They won't tell you this, and I hate to break it to you, but -- chances are your dealership stole your free trial. Think about it-- they have this nice car that gets a free trial subscription, and people want to take it for a test drive, wouldn't it be nice for them to have some Satellite Radio while they're testing the car out? The car sits on the lot for a few months and you either get a shortened trial, or you don't get one at all. Sirius can do absolutely nothing about this. - John replies to John| 1 reply8.
