- Tired of itSame call, ext 243, Michelle, left on answering machine.
- Caller: Vandell Communications
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tired of ScamsI received two recorded calls from "Christopher" both saying I had provided -Vandal Communications with my phone number and that I had won one of four top prizes. I erased the first message and left a voice mail the second time stating that I need more information as what sweepstakes this is regarding before I will "accept this 'prize.'" I used to work in communications and these scammers make a hard job even harder.

- Nancy J replies to TJI received the following voicemail message today:
Hi, this is Shawn calling from Vandale Communications. I have made numerous attempts to reach you regarding an entry form that was filled out in your name within the last 12 to 18 months to receive a new car. This will be my final attempt to notify you that your name was pulled and you'e going to be awarded one of our top four major appliances.
It would be in your best interest to give me a call back as soon as possible. My numer is toll free at 1-866-312-9553, extension 243.
We're not a telemarketing agency or a timeshare -- this is not a cold call -- so please do not ignore this message. I'm very aware of the Do Not Call List so I wouldn't be calling unless you asked to be entered. This is a time-sensitive matter. I do look forward to hearing from you.
Once again, congratulations, and my name is Shawn.

My thought is this: These telemarketers have found a loophole in the Do Not Call List whereby they first fill out a bogus contest entry form in your name, and then they call you in response to that form. I do not enter random contests. And as another poster pointed out, "Shawn" did not identify the person to whom his call was supposedly directed. - MikeReceived a call from "Vandale?" Communication saying I won a new car and should call them back. I never entered a new car contest. Told me to call back at 1-866-312-9553 ext 243.

- Chris| 2 repliesPlease visit Vandellcommunicationsllc.com hopefully this will give you better insight to why you received a call. Beware that a lawsuit is being filed on behalf of Vandell Communications against each site that has allowed the word scam to be presented in the comments on such website.
- anonymous replies to At the OfficeWhy didn't the rep offer to email or fax the info? Why don't you use the US mail? Brings on the US Postal Inspectors?
- anonymous replies to TJJKNo, I haven't because I wouldn't want to try cyanide.
- anonymous replies to What they they get from youWhy don't you take "scammed" to court for libel?
- anonymous replies to williamBut isn't the "seminar" a hard-sell sales presentation that's degrading and painful to go through?
- anonymous replies to GuyRe. "No one on this site is saying that if it is a scam or not," many have posted it's a scam and some have posted it's not.
Re. "What is the point of this company calling?" quite a few posters have described what their calls were all about.
Why do you need to ask these questions that have largely been answered? - anonymous replies to Tom"if you have not attended there shouldn't be any negative comments made" is like don't knock cyanide unless you've tried it.
- anonymous replies to Douglas"neither individual that claims this is a scam has never attended the event" is like how can you claim it's poisonous if you've never tried cyanide?
- anonymous replies to OnthefenceWhat "previous blog" are you talking about?
"the prize is the way around the do not call list" is false. Prior relationship or express permission are valid exemptions but there is no way to get around the DoNotCall registry.
Re. "people unhappy about the calls," I think people are unhappy about being told they entered a contest to win a car when they haven't. - anonymous replies to Vandell CommuncationOne problem I see with your "I will make sure you are gifted without any cost except your taxes" offer is that it can be construed as buying Cheryl's endorsement as someone who has "won REAL contests in the past (a car, several trips, and lesser items)" to add credibility to your operation. Are you?
- anonymous replies to Vandell CommunicationWhy do you say "if you opt in we are not violating the do not call" when Cheryl already states "I never filled out any entry form for their company ... but I am on the Do Not Call List?" Sounds like you are in violation, doesn't it?
- anonymous replies to ChrisI think people use the word "scam" when they mean "deceptive marketing." The prizes may be real but the marketing tactics used to get people to the sales presentation selling "MEMBERSHIPS IN A VACATION CLUB, TIMESHARE, BUYING CLUB, OR OTHER SALES PROMOTION" certainly sound deceptive. For example, many posters report they were told by the telemarketer that they'd entered a contest to win something when they haven't. Of course, there is no defense for the someone-entered-for-you claim, is there, and why people say scam for they simply don't believe it.

- anonymous replies to ChrisWell, that's very nice of you but "testing" posted 15 days prior to your reply so wouldn't you agree that the probability of "testing" reading your reply and responding is rather low, and "testing" should expect continued calls from Vandell?
- anonymous replies to Chris"Because one person called it a scam when the next person google the saw the comment and because the didnt get the nature of the call they to said it was a scam so the theory grew" doesn't sound right. Occam's Razor applies. People are individuals, not lemmings, have their own opinions and are not stupid. More likely than not, each person has based his/her conclusion on his/her own experience with Vandell.
- anonymous replies to ChrisPerhaps Tim's upset because the you-won-a-car call to his 83 YO mom got her all excited needlessly when she shouldn't be?
