I have received calls and notices in the mail that my warranty is about to expire and THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE to respond.  I have tried to explain to someone that I am not the original owner of the car but they hang up and don't talk to me.  Yesterday I received another notice in the mail. They won't listen and don't want to talk if you ask who they are.  What gives?

We are setting up a sting on this phony "car warranty" criminal enterprise, tracing the funds and sending them to prison.

Gold Key Warranty from Huntsville Alabama 35810. I called them from a letter I recieved from them, there number is 1-866-341-9255. They offered me the Platinum Coverage even though my truck was over the 50,000 mile requirement, Matt talked to his manager, and they made it happen, they offered me a four year warranty or up to 60,000 miles for $2830 they said i could pay 12 payments of $212.25 or 18 payments of $141.50 after a down payment of $283. I told them I was going to check the BBB first, he is going to call me back in 3 hours.

Rest asured you did the right thing.  If they can not tell you who they are with and provide an address and phone number its a scam.  Most Warranty Work is done when buying a product not half way through. If they are legit they will identify themselves and provide who, what, where, when and why. They will give you their web site and you can check them out with the Better Business Bureau. If not its a scam. Thanks for getting the information out.

I got their "final notice" in the mail along with two separate postcards, one saying "final warranty notice" with a phone number 1-800-978-4145 and "final expiration notice" with a number 1-800-888-334-4697. The mailing says Honda*Nissan*Toyota on it and the phone number to call on it is the same:1-866-341-9255. Phony people, shady business, scamming scumbags., Stay away and don't even bother calling them back.

    Folks,

First I would like to say I understand your concerns. A customer whom I just spoke with referred me to this site and it opened me eyes. I had no idea people really thought this way of the industry that I have been working in for the last 6 years.

I do want to take some time to help educate you on this industry. Now, there are some shady companies who pop up and disappear in a years time just like in any other industry, but there are also other companies who have been vetted and plan on being around for a long time coming.

A little about us now...We are a brokerage firm for 3 major warranty companies which include mechanical breakdown protection inc. (mbpi), Goldkey Warranty dba Automobile Consumer Service Corp(listing in bbb, as well as enterprise financial group(efg). These firms are all rated an A company with AM best. AM best is  If you research each of these firms you will see each company has been tried and vetted in the industry. Dont take my word for it, go to bbb.org and see for yourself!!!

If any of you have any questions or concerns please contact me 866.341.9255 ext 1010. Thanks.

First off the number you called (866-341-9255) is no way shape or from any type of scam.  And for those who say the name of the company isn't on the notice, probably didn't take two seconds to read the letter.  The first thing it says at the very top of the letter is the name of the company.  It's obvious many people are terrified of life and think everything is a scam, but before you accuse someone of being a fradulent you should probably make sure.  These same warranties are sold at dealerships all over the country.  I have a vehicle service contract (warranty) on my vehicle from this company and have had over $3000 in covered repairs paid directly to my dealership, hassle free!  Companies that send those notices are not scams, they simply use clever marketing to offer consumers a warranty coverage that can be useful and very cost effective.  Don't be scared to atleast give them a call and see what they have to offer.  Having a warranty on your vehicle could potentially save you thousands of dollars from pricy dealership labor rates.

Received unsolicited mail from motor vehicle services with this phone number saying there would be a $2000 fine if this was ignored.  It was for a extended warranty, but no where referenced my specific vehicle.  You are right the name of the company is there MOTOR VEHICLE SERVICES I know it's a scam sure wish someone could do something - guess that's what Chrysler is doing with their bail out money.

If you are legit why do you make the notice sound like a warning from the Motor Vehicle Services?  "tampering with this mail will be a $2000 fine,...blah, blah, blah" I think you've made your money over the last 6 years by people falling for this.

Ian...I rec'd a similar notice with the aforementioned phone number prominently displayed at the top of the letter but, NO NAME.  I have had 3 people in my office review the letter and found NO NAME.

So, that leads me to believe that either you are a dupe for the company or you are an idiot for purchasing their "warranty plan"; moreover, I can assure you that the extended warranty plan offered in car dealerships has NOTHING to do with these folks

    Have a nice day.

I would have to agree with Ian. I used to sell extended auto warranties and the same companies I sold at a call center were the exact same as the dealership. The key thing to check is the underwriter of the policy. The Underwriter is the company that would actually be paying for the repairs. Its not a scam just marketing. If you want it just call them if not do not call. It is very simple.

The tampering with the mail is the same thing that i have on my notice. However, after looking at it i think it just means that if someone else messes with your mail, they can be fined. I started researching it and most
companies use that for consumer protection because sometimes there is personal information most would not like others to have on the notices.
    Hope this helps.
