- MattI got a call from this number today and answered it. A guy named Kunal told me he is from Telus and I could get 100M/month data absolutely free for three months. There will be 10 dollars charge from the 4th month if I continue using it. He did ask me questions about my pin which i didn't give; my date of birth which I didn't give either. But I did tell my mailing add and email add. He was polite like other cold call guys. Told me it will take 24 hours to activate, and I can call Telus customer service to cancel it if i don't want it after 3 months. I don't know if this is true and will call Telus to confirm before using any data.

- taranboyThey phone my land line three oe four times a day. If I see that it starts with 866 I just don't answer. Like, what 800, 866, 8__ number belongs to a genuine business that would actually call you? LLBean wants to tell you that you have just won a free sweater? I was a Telus land line but I switched to Shaw. They used my number to call me to ask me to switch back to Telus; they would match any offer from Shaw. Bleahfor "(866)369-9826"

If you are receiving telemarketing call from a telephone corporation to which you now or at one time paid a fee (in this case monthly) for the use of its services,
and that corporation uses for its own purposes and profits some of the private information you provided at the outset when you contracted in order to receive dial tone, voice mail and other services,
not only does it contravene privacy legislation, but in addition it is engaging in unjust enrichment (it benefits to your detriment) and a class action lawsuit ought to be undertaken by persons who receive the calls.
If I had contracted with a telemarketing business to be paid one dollar each time it used my telephone number for its own purposes, well, I might consider that proposal (but I would reject it).- Caller: Telus

- Rofo replies to ronYeah. A toll-free stalker. The cops told you they'd make a case if enough people complain because they know full-well no one's going to go to the police station and tell them Telus is stalking them. Anyone with Google can find out who the number belongs to. They told you they'd make a case to get your ranting delusional ass out of their station so they can resume their jobs of protecting citizens from actual issues. Idiot.
- KarenOMG...I can't believe how you guys act on this...I am so embarassed to be looking here to find some reasonable answer, only to have 'sweetie' spew...relax. really. It's gonna be ok. This is why I despise the internet...it allows faceless ppl a palce to rant.. LOL!
- DangiSTOP calling my home and cell number!! Sick of getting these calls non stop! Enough already!
- annoyedI've been getting calls from this person since mid-June. STOP CALLING!
- J replies to SWEETIE| 5 repliesrelax kiddo. it was telus, I checked (it took approximately 2 seconds, I guess you couldn't muster the time). I wouldn't call it harassment. You don't seem to have a clear grip on the term.
- I hate that numberI got that call sooo many times already! It is pissing me off because they waste my free minutes trying to call me. They've been calling like all month!
And just a moment ago, I saw the "866-369-9862", so I pressed "end call". And then they called me again RIGHT AFTER with their "1-866-369-9826" number!! This is madness!
I don't even think that it's Telus, because they don't usually waste their time calling you on an offer, and won't repeatedly harass you for it either! - Ticked OffI have been getting calls from this number on almost a daily basis for about a month. I have tried answering adn no on eis there. WTF? Some days I have had 3 calls! What can I do about this?
- JenniferI am getting one or two calls from this number every day on my cell phone and it is extremely annoying! I don't pick up but they still call every day.

- Stef| 2 repliesHas anyone received a call from this number with the international dialing code 011 in front (01118663699826) in the caller ID? Essentially the called originated from north America judging by the 011 and when I called it without the International dialing code, I got TELUS but I couldn't call it with the 011 prefix because my carrier wouldn't allow it. I'm in Canada and I've never seen on my caller ID the 011 international dialing code with a toll free number. Thanks.
PS I havent had a cell with TELUS in more than 5 years ...- Caller: ?
- WendyI called telus customer service, explained about all the complaints, and asked to verify if the number was a legitimate telus telemarketer. They said it was. I asked if I could be removed from the telus telemarketing list, and it was done in a second. Customer service guaranteed I'd have no more calls from that number. Just be polite - they'll do it no problem.

- IsabelleHi guys,
They've been calling my Telus cellphone since July 5th a few times a week. I never was able to get to the phone quick to answer and they do not leave messages on my voicemail. After reading a few pages on this site, verifying the number on Google (listed as AlphaSearch Group Inc. as reported by another person), I did call the number just to see what the menu would sound like. Then I dialed *611 to compare with Telus. Of course, the menu is WAY different...I speak French so I chose service in French and they asked me twice my language selection with 2 different sentences. They never do that at Telus. Then it ended on three options:
- Talking to a Telus rep without wanting to add new services
- Activating a number
- If you want to become a Telus customer or to add a phone to your account
Then there were more options...
It has nothing to do with the Telus *611 menu. It really seems like a special telemarketing number and menu to sell stuff.
Finally I spoke with a guy named Imad (wouldn't give me his last name) in French and he told me he was located in a call center in St-Laurent in Montreal. I confronted him saying the number 1 866 369 9826 was located in Michigan, USA. He had no knowledge of this number or of AlphaGroup in Michigan. He confirmed he was in Montreal and wasn't aware of the phone calls made from Michigan. I told him that's by calling back that very number that I was able to talk to him. Nothing he could say about it...I asked to be removed from the telemarketing lists. He transferred me to the retention service, then took back the line and said it was done, when at first told me he couldn't do it. Said a colleague from retention did it. I was thinking it was a scam and I've been agressive warning him against the Do Not Call list, fraud, anything I could find to test his reaction. He stayed polite but seemed very surprised (and maybe offended) of the accusations and repeated he really worked for Telus in St-Laurent.
I asked him to tell me my personal info if he really was from Telus. Gave me all the correct info; address, bill cycle, email address, date and reason of the last call made at Telus...I guess a scam would not know about my calls to Telus. He confirmed my number was removed from the telemarketing list and we hung up.
If you search AlphaSearch Group, in the description it says " Business Services Products or Services". They probably were hired by Telus (and maybe other companies such as Big T) to make the telemarketing calls at a lower cost. But no customer service rep at Telus seems to know about it. I think they should be informed in case clients call to complain...
Anyways, I had already filed a complaint on the National Do Not Call List. This way if it's a Scam they'll find it.
