Sherell Brown  called  ( her phone number 866-504-9784) left message stating it was urgent we spoke .... not sure why I would get a call I'm single with not Debt from  deceased relative. Im sure this must be some type of scam .  

I hate to suggest this, I'm sure that you, like me, have had that telephone number for quite some time, but you may want to change your telephone number and go unlisted.    
If your husband had a will, or any sort of estate,  you may be responsible for the debt though,  and it's an unfortunate thing, these collectors don't care one bit.   They are paid, in most cases, by commission. The more they collect, the more they make.   My wife was a debt collector, but she was lucky enough to be making medical bill collections, where most of the time, it was an insurance issues.
If you or your husband have/had a lawyer for any part of a will or probate, contact that lawyer.  More then likely, they will either handle the collectors or tell you what you need to do.  
This is something NOBODY plans for,especially like in your case, a sudden passing, so anyone reading this,  do your loved ones a favor, and get stuff done with an attorney, a will, and some sort of a plan.

Same thing here. My dad passed away. I am not personally responsible to pay the debt of my father, but as the admin of his estate I have to settle with the companies once i sell my fathers house & pay the debt from those proceeds. The debt collectors are required to state every time they call you, you are not responsible to pay this debt personally but the estate has a judgement against it to collect the debt. Hope this helps

Since they left no message and the number comes up unknown I don't really care who they are. If they were a valid business they would have left a message.

Both of my elderly parents died in 2014 - one in March, the other in December. Cohen/Portfolio Recovery are absolutely ruthless in their calls, and the numbers of "ring twice...hang up" calls are irritating at best.  I have asked multiple reps to please follow the instructions to send in the mail whatever is outstanding so that I can present it to my probate attorney. Guess what?  Since they can't seem to follow the rules then MA Atty Genl is on tap and I hope to have their claims dismissed because of the company's degree of unprofessionalism.

This group had called on several occasions prior to my dad's death in 12/2014 and when I told them I had PoA and would they please send me info on whatever the outstanding account was, they would only ask me to fax my PoA to them.  Told them that i wasn't about to fax anything anywhere without some reasonable explanation as to what the issue was, and of course, got nowhere.  Now that my dad has passed away and i am getting ready to go to probate, this same group has been calling offering me a settlement that I need to pay.  I have told them on several occasions that they need to send me the information about whatever is outstanding so that I can present it to my probate attorney.  I am so very tired of the same malarky day in and day out...they say that they will mail what I need for probate and I have received nothing.  If that's their stance, then, too bad so sad for them if I can't present their bill to my attorney.

Someone from this # has called my house multiple times lately and not left a single message. I have never been married and am not executor [currently] of any relatives estate that I know of. So if it is a, reputable, collection agency why aren't they leaving message. [easy to figure out in my opinion, but that is an opinion.]

Called and told me they were the IRS looking to collect on back taxes !!!!  They used my nickname and not the one on my W-2.  BEAWARE, THIS IS A SCAM.

I am the Executrix of my father's estate. These guys have been calling 2-3xs a day, I finally answered. They wanted me to verify my Dad's info, before telling me what the debt was about.  I told them to mail me something, and the guy got ticked off..  I want / need a paper trail, not some random phone call from folks I don't know..

These people are Crooks and low life debt collectors . If they call you and you answer they have no expatiation of politeness  of any kind .  It is the law tell them to Go F3@K OFF and Eat S*#T and die!   They quit calling when you are rude to them and they learn in a hurry they are wasting their time an do not want an ear beating!

You can talk any way you want to them if they initiate the call !

Keep getting calls and being asked to call back but the man wiil not say why just that he needs to talk to me.

I have received repeated calls from this number.  They would not leave a message, so I finally answered.  They wanted personal information which I would not give.  I found out that they were debt collectors from deceased people.

I am on the do not call list, but I still get calls all the time

I also am receiving calls from this number. My Husband died..They refuse to stop calling.... I solved this problem by purchasing a phone that can block up to 250 numbers. God Bless technology. REPORT THE NUMBER...

Have no clue who these people are calling at god early hours.

Appears these fraudsters attempt to extort surviving family after a CitiBank Credit Card is cancelled because of the death of the card holder.
