- Laura replies to JackWell Jack if they are so legitimate and you are speaking up for them and knowing the legal terms and such then number 1 spell correctly if you plan on making it sound like you are important and are telling these others in here about another company and who to pay "their" money to and number 2 know your facts about the company you speak of and the false claims they make. I am a Deputy and if I owe money I will pay it ....but not to someone who calls my house claiming to have a "warrant" for my arrest....and claiming to be a deputy. And when I call back and confront them they lie when they do answer the phone and say they never made that claim when I have it clearly on my answering machine. Yes the economy is tight and things are not going well for people but there are scam artists out there so beware. An honest legitimate comapny will send you paperwork to prove who they are.
- KAREN replies to greengaltold me the same thing on several occasions. It was going to their legal deparment, i have only a certain amount of time. . . on and on, still waiting. Lawyer standing by.
- InOregonIt was a female who called, several times. Always saying this is the final call and they have already started investigation into all of our assests and bank accounts and if we did not call them back they would proceed with further action

- not quite... replies to JackThey don't have the right to harass your family and neighbors trying to reach you, and can be fined up to $1000 a pop for doing so. It's a violation of the FCDPA.
- AlfalfaNational Credit Works, Inc. Calls from 866-618-5731 Debt collectors of purchased accounts. The owner is Gregory George Emminger, 42, 113 Bathurst Drive, Tonawanda, NY 14150, Erie County, NY. Be careful about sending them any money, he does not have any docs to back up his claims, nor is he licensed or bonded anywhere. There is a connection with Giove Law Office, he may have bought some of the old accounts that Giove could no longer collect on. Warn your readers that this is a scam, that money sent to them is thrown away.

- Toodles| 1 replyThis agency has called my home an obscene number of times looking for a Kim Bailey that has never lived at my residence. I have called them a number of times indicating that the person they are looking for does not live at this residence and to remove my number from their database. This was January 2009, it is now March 31, 2009 and they continue to call. In addition, when I speak to representatives about the matter they become irate and accuse me of knowing Ms. Bailey.

- HSpoke to this company, claim I owe $900 on a pre paid credit card, I asked how is that possible they did'nt know but would settle for $400.
I asked for the documents to back up their claim, They told me it's is in archive and they could not send me any thing to prove their claim.
So I responded with as soon as the prove I owe the Monies I will pay it that was in Jan 09.I have recieved Nothing,so I simple blocked their number. - Sky| 1 replyI got a call from a guy at this number. He was asking about an account that had been closed off. He said he was going to send
the debt information to me in an email, but I've been looking at my email
for two days and he didn't send me an email. It just seems kind of a shock
to get a bill collector call after I thought most of my debts settled. Luckily I had recently asked all three of the credit companies to send me my credit reports, and the account he had mentioned had been closed and sold off in 2006. I'm unemployed now and a student so it was a shock. Are they supposed to send something in mail first? That makes sense. - KAREN replies to SkySKY,
hang up the phone and don't speak to them. . .no they will not send anything in the mail. I am still waiting too and been waiting since November. Speaking to them may reopen a can of worms that has long been closed up (Statue of Limitations, check your state). These people are bottom feeders who have purchased old unvalidated debts and will use any type of scare tactic to make you pay on some old closed account thus reopening the "can of worms" by making the old debt current again. They will use tactics of pressure such as threatening to take legal action or telling you that you have 24 hours to call them or it will be sent to their legal department. No, I never received anything in the mail either. I do have lawyer access should they send anything in the mail or decide to try to start something legal. In that case you will need to show up in court and verify that the debt is out of statute. Don't just ignore then they win by default (in that you don't show up). First of all they need to validate the debt (which they can't) especially this people. - I'm on their listThey have been calling me since 2008 trying to get me to pay off an old debt that I have already paid. Some of the callers are very rude, refusing to answer additional details as to who exactly is the attorney and in what state is he licensed to practice law and his bar #. Some of the callers are nice and try to get me to pay. Bottom line: they are a fraud - if someone is taking you to court, you'd know it because you'd have paperwork served to you. This is BS so don't pay them anything. After 3 calls in 3 days threatening me for legal action - I decided to harass them and I kept calling them back and demanding answers, they stopped calling!

- Sky| 2 repliesThank you KAREN for your advise! It's funny. After I was on the Internet looking up these guys yesterday, I check my phone messages and he had called again and left a message asking if I got their email? I DID get a lot of
SPAM type of emails but didn't know which one was his. There was one email
with an attachment that I know not to open because it might be a virus.
YES, this is an account that has gone past the statue of limitations. I had
the account in California. No, I never got any snail mail. I hope they don't send a court order. That would be absurd! Thanks again Karen.

- karen replies to Sky| 1 replySky,
don't worry about these people. Most of all don't call them back. Don't trust these jokers from New York, all they want is for you to acknowledge the debt, start paying and get access to your bank account. I am not easily intimidated. Have been through alot over the past 8 years and have heard it all. - SkyThanks Karen! I HAVE noticed that they haven't called back again. I am
going to ignore them now.
I'll write again here if they start giving me trouble again. I might need
advise if they do something more.

- Sky replies to karenKaren, I received a call from him (same guy?) again on Friday April 10, asking if I got their email? I had no way of knowing which email was theirs. I thought it would come from the same guy that called me, but they said it would go in my spam mail since it had an attachment. I finally found an email from a woman named Dawn with an attachment. I'll open it at library since it might have a virus. I also asked them to send me a letter in the snail mail, and he said they would. But then he says he's going to call on Monday because "this has to be paid off immediately."
Should I tell him that I know they are a scam? They are really persistant and it really creeped me out. They called on my first day of classes at the college and it put my head in a bad space. Should I just not answer phone on Monday? Please tell me what to do next, Karen. Thanks so much!
Sky - KAREN| 1 replysky,
They are trying to get into your head to MAKE you pay. . .if you pay it you are just probably throwing your money away. . . - Sky replies to KARENThanks Karen! I also found out that the statute of limitations for California is 4 years from when the debt went delinquent. It went delinquent in 2004 and I never paid anything past 2004. So that means
that this debt expired in August 2008. I wonder why National Credit Works
didn't know this???? Were they relying on my ignorance?
Sky to Karen - KAREN| 4 repliesHey sky,
YES, they are hoping that you are ignorant of the laws and will be intimidated into paying thus making this account current again by restarting the statute of limitations. National Credit works knows this they are just hoping that you don't. Many pay out of fear and that is how they make their money. Should they try to take you to court just show up and mention that the statute of limitations has passed and it will be excused. Again, I have been around the block many times during the last 8 years and the best thing that I got out of it all was EDUCATION. Just cut ties and don't talk to them. TAke care. - Sky replies to KARENHi, Karen. They called and left a message on my machine talking in a nasty tone of voice saying "you should have gotten the email by now and this need to be taken care of!" The email was just a one page letter stating the account, but they never DID send the snail mail copy that I had requested!
I was just wondering if they did take me to court, would I need to get a lawyer? I can't afford one, but I could get a public defender, right?
Thanks Karen!
Sky - KAREN| 1 replySKY,
let me ask, did the email letter have an address for national credit works?
funny they won't send it snail mail huh? They are using that "thick" New York accent huh to scare the mess out of you I bet. Just stop talking to them. They are thinking that their scare tactic is working. . . - Sky replies to KARENThanks Karen, yes the email letter does have their address in Cheektowaga, NY. It also did not include the date that it went delinquent which was August 2004, five years ago. It also pumped up my debt to 3 times more than it originally was to over $2,000. The orignial debt was $600. They said that federal law says I have to respond in 30 days. I have a "how to
fix your credit book" that has a cease and desist form I can mail to them .
They are violating the Fair debt rule, I believe. And yes, it's always a
different guy talking on message with a thick New York accent! I'm unemployed now and going to college updating my computer skills. It's
definately not a good time for me to deal with all this until I get a good
job again! I'll tell you what happens next. They still didn't send snail mail which is pretty tacky and unprofessional.
