These people call me many times a day.  They leave a message stating that they need information to update their files.  The funniest part is that they are asking for me by a name that I haven't been for over 13 years.  If I do answer, I only get the same recorded message that they leave on my voice mail.

Depending on your state, any debt over 7 years old falls off of your credit and is no longer collectable....unless you pay them something.  That will reactivate the debt.  They can't threaten to take you to court unless they are actually going to do it.  If someone is calling about an old debt, don't fall for the scam.  Keep a record of all calls.  They are also not allowed to speak to anyone else about your debt.  Keep that record also.  Then call your attorney general and they can make them stop.  If the violate the Fair Debt Collection Practice law, you can actually sue them!!!!    Look up the law so you're aware of your rights within your state.

these are unpaid payday loans, and yes, you can go to jail for bad checks if thats what they choose to do.. most of these companies due civil, not charge criminal, i can tell you from experience, national credit works is a legit debt collection agency, they do sue, and they will charge criminal for any checks that are not honored by your bank...

You need to brush up on your laws.  Pay day loans are considered a loan in every state in the union!!!!!

If you gave a check to hold at a payday loan store or even over the internet, it is not recognized as a bad

check because you are paying on a loan. I hope this is not Toney Moore trying to cover herself, if not I

debt collector its not a criminal charge if the check bounces for nsf when you write a check to pay a debt and it bounces you can not go to jail this is a scare tactic...now if you go to a store and buy merchandise and write a check and it bounces now you have a criminal charge and yes you can go to jail...and i bet you know that your just using scare tactics and lying to these people and to me that is a sleazy debt collector

ignore them and quite answering their calls. . .they are not going to do a blame thing.   Statue of limitations have long past on this and it would not hold up in court anyway.  Judge would throw something like this out. . .unless you did'nt not show up.  But trust me, they are not going to do one thing.  They are just using the old scare tactic.  Keep good records, law suits are mounting for this company and you may be able to sue them also.
