- GEE| 7 repliesI just got the same thing....
This is scary - i just re-fi'd and keep getting things with bmo harris' name on it. They know my county, how much i borrowed... And i have filed a complaint with the bank about them obviously selling my info! Also - i have been getting other "you missed this paperwork..." that is a scam for insurance on the house if you die or become disabled...- Caller: MAIL
- Bob replies to GEEIn all likelihood your bank did not sell your information to this company. As soon as your mortgage is recorded it becomes a matter of public record and can viewed by anyone who chooses - your mortgage lists the amount you borrowed, your lender and your closing attorney. These companies search the public records for this information and send out mailings in hopes they will coerce you into contacting them.
- CathieSame letter. I think they are trying tosell life insurance on your house
- LonnieGot one today, no identification of why they are. Even used the equal opportunity housing symbol. The regulators should come down hard on these types of operations.
- IvyI received the same letter and thought it was on official request. Thanks for confirming that this is a scam--will be throwing the letter away.
- JMACI received the same garbage letter today. I ripped it up and threw it in the trash. Between the endless phone calls and the mountain of phony mail, I often feel like a target on a firing range. It's sad to say, but I've reached the point where I trust my family and friends, and that's about it. I also trust 800notes.com and I wish all seniors knew about it because we're such an enormous target for these scammers.
- Syrvanna| 1 replySent mail to our house stating they were our mortgage company trying to reach us
