- SidneyI got one of the "we have been trying to reach you" mortgage letters 3 weeks after buying a house. I knew it was a scam right away because the closing date was incorrect. Also, I certainly would have recalled repeated calls or emails from my mortgage company. Toss this in the trash.

They had my name, my lender's name, my county and my closing date and amount. I think they wanted personal information out of me. NOT OK!! I am so glad I called my mortgage lender from the number I had saved, NOT THE ONE FROM THE LETTER. My lender verified it was a fake.- Call type: Scam suspicion

- Cheryl and Dave| 4 repliesReceived same letter (as above) 2wks after taking out a loan. Called local Credit Union who funded our loan, and were told this is s scam. The credit union fraud dept dealing with it, and we were told to "always turn fraudulent mail back to your local Post Office.

- BigA replies to Cheryl and DaveJunk mail. Nothing more, nothing less. The Post Office will do what should have had the brains to do. Throw it away. It isn't "fraudulent" Try using the internet to learn instead of using it to whine and complain about stuff that you should already know about.
- Mike-in-MD replies to Cheryl and Dave| 2 repliesNothing but a very underhanded way to try and sell you a mortgage insurance policy that would pay off your mortgage in the event of your death. You could do much better by getting a real Life Insurance policy from a reputable company if you were so inclined.
- BigA replies to Mike-in-MD| 1 replyBut still not illegal or fraudulent correct? Plus it is still junk mail correct? Also not everyone can qualify for real life insurance at an affordable rate. I don't know what the rates are that this company is offering right now. Interesting that they have no complaints at the BBB which gives them No Rating and several bad reviews. No website but that doesn't really mean anything.
- Mike-in-MD replies to BigAMight run afoul of FTC rules on deceptive advertising. This would likely be a form of term insurance and not cost competitive with reputable firms that don't use deceptive practices when contacting potential customers. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could toss an elephant, But yes, not mail fraud.
- Kudagammanage PereraI received a letter today saying “We have been trying to reach you regarding a matter of importance as it relates to your mortgage. Please call (866) 663-7459“ , never try to call back and it’s obviously SCAM
