- Janice S.I've had at least 3 calls from this number. It is always a recording saying to CALL THEM BACK today! In the first place, I owe NO money to ANYBODY! In the second place, if it was SO important to them, WHY do they call you using a recording?? I absolutely HATE it when I answer the phone and it is a recording! That totally insults my intelligence! Do they REALLY think anybody is going to return a call like that?? If it was a REAL person making the call, I would answer next time and let them have a piece of my mind!!

- CatbirdFound this # on my Answering Machine... No name was left.. Returned the call and they refused to tell me who they were calling. She was advised that because no name was left and we do not take calls of this type, they could remove the number.
Reading previous notes tells me its regarding an 'auto debt' We own all our vehicles...no loans.- Caller: Focus

- Angry dadThey call my home phone number really early waking my children for no reason because i don't owe anybody.
- idonttrustthisnumberThey call, do not say who they are or who they are looking for, just that it urgent to return their call and any information obtained will be used to collect a debt. We do not owe anyone, so sure this is a scam or harassment.
- Caller: did not identify
- resop2Total scam. I called them back and they could not tell me any information about the debt I was trying to collect unless I gave them my name or address. They obviously are not trying to collect any debts, they are only trying to fish for personal information.

- AnnoyedThis number calls my phone about 3 times a day, never leaves a message. Finally I answered it out of frustration. It was a lady named Amber Walls looking for my daughter. I told her I was her mother and asked what I could help her with. She said I couldn't help her with anything but my daughter needed to call her immediately. I asked her what it was in reference to. She said it was s personal matter. I told her I handle all my daughter's personal matters. She said no, you need to have her call me at ext 2709. Yeah, I'm sure I'm going to the trouble of passing that message along!

- MikeGot a call from 8666642512 earlier this week (showed up on my caller ID). When I didn't answer the phone, those idiots had the nerve to call my 76-year-old aunt 35 miles from me and harass her. Someone named Vernon Jones called her and asked to speak to me. My address has not been hers since 2003! I do not know anyone named Vernon Jones (via school, Facebook, work, or anywhere else). Moreover, I see on some comments here that they claim they are from Ford Motor Credit Company. My last car financed through Ford Motor Credit was paid off in 2006.

- KimI received a call from 866-664-2512. Caller said it was an attempt to collect a debt and left a reference number, speaking so quickly it was incomprehensible. When I called back, they asked me to verify my identity by giving them my address, which I never give out (and no one else should EVER). When I consistently refused and eventually raised my voice because they annoyed me, they asked me to stop yelling, so I replied, "fine, if you can't tell me who you are or what debt you are attempting to cllect, then I'll just have to hang up." I have no outstanding debt that I am aware of. No caller who has your phone number EVER needs to ask you for Personally Identifiable Information (PII). If they called you, and if you call back from the same number they called, they have computer systems to identify who is calling. NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION!!! In my book, this is 100% a SCAM.

- SkepticalCalled me day after New Year's and left a message claiming I had an unpaid debt, but did not say to whom. I have loans and credit cards, but I pay those regularly and definitely wouldn't be sent to a collections agency for them. Searched the number. Some people say it's a scam, others say it's legit. Second time they called I got no message. If they need to reach me so badly they can come to my door.

- Anon| 1 replyReceived call from this number. I always look up phone numbers before answering/calling back.
This number is not a scam. I called back and it did refer to a legitimate debt from an irresponsible time in my past. The man was courteous and had asked if the timing was good for me to discuss a solution. I explained that it was not and we agreed to discuss it the following day. Collection companies receive the debt second hand and may not have all the proper info. They are usually more than willing to give you time to make sure you're liable for the debt. They only know what they are told. Remember to remain true to your word and most companies will be happy to work with you.
Always ask for everything in writing if you're unsure. Check your credit report regularly. Things can be forgotten and lead you to believe it's a scam. These people deal with rude people just as often as we deal with rude collection callers.- Caller: Focus receivables managemt

- Slim replies to AnonA phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]
Source:
https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/debtcollection/
If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
