This debt is 12 years old. They cannot verify anything about it. Dreyfus for me, too. I told the to sue me, but they keep calling. I have not received anything in the mail.

I have been getting all of about 3 calls a week from these fools.
If they want to contact me they should do it through the mail.
I will NOT be calling them back, and I will send a cease and desist order the next time they contact me.

I agree with eC They probably bought some old noncollectable debt for pennies on the dollar to try and fear people into paying.

What are you doing on this site? You had to have known about this number to do a search on it, which would have directed you to this site and many others. I find it very hard to believe you were just bored and decided to type a random number into a Internet search engine. Did little Lauren get a call from this big bad Collection Agency too?

These people have been calling me for about 2 months.  They never leave a message.  I DO NOT owe anyone any money, now or in the past.  Therefore I don't know why they would be calling me.  I don't answer calls from people that I don't know.  I am assuming since everyone says that they are a collection agency, that is who they are.  I do know that if you are served with papers to appear in court, you better show up.  If the debts statute of limitations is up, and you show up it will be thrown out.  If you do not show up, the judge will allow the agency to do whatever they can about collecting.  IE:  taking your tax returns, wage garnishments...  Thank you Clark Howard on HLN for that little tidbit of info.

I received calls from these people once or twice a month for seven years. I don't know the person for whom they are calling. I have repeatedly asked them to take my name off their calling list and they claim to do so but it doesn't stop the dunning for long.

I have received this call also..its on my cell but for someone else....just another scheme to get money from ppl..thats all.

They called and asked to speak to my ex-husband (which we have been divorced 20 yrs).  he has NEVER lived at this residence.  i have been trying to find him to report him to the STATE for BACK CHILD SUPPORT.  heck if they can find him I would like some info on him as well.  How does someone try to locate him at my home when i cant get the state to locate him at all????  He has disappeared off the earth or his momma is keeping him on the down low!!!

So I got a call from these guys asking about a $600 unpaid debt from 2000, obviously they are debt scavengers and my credit rating is spotless now and has been for 4 years.  They called I answered, gave me all this garbage about how my good name is on the line blah blah blah.  I kept telling them that they are debt scavengers and the debt has been discharged and they will get nothing out of me. Guy said "ok...thanks" and we hung up.  Now I told them if they hit my credit report that I will "go after them with everything possible".  Can they ding my report with a 10 year old debt?

I keep receiving phone calls from 1-866-679-9649 on a daily bases also sometimes 2-3 times a day.  Well today I called that number and a recording came  on from a woman stating you have reached Stephens & Michaels Associates.  Please wait on line so your call  can be directed.  They act like they are attorneys, they are really full of it. I didn't wait to be directed to anything they have to say......

I received a call from a different number - 866-201-0940 - on my cell phone.  I missed the first call, and they didn't leave a message.  The second time they called, I answered, and they hung up.  I called the number back and got a recorded message stating that I had reached Stevens and Michaels Associates, and asking me to hold while they transferred my call to "the appropriate party."  I'm not sure how they would know who is "the appropriate party," since the recording did not ask for any information.  I am guessing it was reading my phone number, and trying to determine to whom within their firm it was assigned.  I hung up; did not stay on the line for the transfer.

Then I did a search on the firm name, and came up with (so far) two sites of blogs and such that are all complaints about this company attempting to collect fraudulent claims.  It appears, from what little I have read, that they target individuals who have had recent financial struggles, or are financially vulnerable in some way.  I would imagine this increases their success when using scare tactics, which seems to be fairly common.

They have a new number now 1-866-201-0940, they call my phone every day but leave me no message, I called it back and the recordings say Stevens and Michaels Associates. Beware of these people......Let's all sue them for harassment and personal damages and I bet you all collections agencies would think twice about harassing people for debts that are 7 plus year old

They say they are Stephens & Micheal's and The person that calls sometime is a Lady name Jennifer Lions and she says she is from the firm of them I don't known but I think they are trying to say they are a law firm but they will not say it because they know that they are lying they are a collection company.

In the process of collecting address details about the friends & families of Stephens & Michaels, will be sending location information to Keyser. Expect all calls to cease.

They've been calling my work ext or being xsferred by the main switch boards asking for Vernon Peters. First they said they were Red Cross looking for Mrs. Peters, now they're asking for vernon. My name is Shay and I JUST started working at this company and informed them this is a place of employment and that person doesn't work here. They hang up.
