Maybe all you shouldn't be sitting here bashing this company on the internet, but rather calling them and checking into why you're getting calls in the 1st place rather than just going on Google to look up a company because you are too cowardly to call and pay your bills. Really!!

It's not a scam, it's a collection agency. Unfortunately people who don't pay they're bills, ie *you* and other debtors don't seem to understand that calling someone asking them to pay a bill ****they owe*** isn't harassment or a "scam"

Excellent idea Lauren! I second that motion! Hate us all you want, but atleast we work for a living. All people do is constantly whine and complain everytime a collection agency contacts them, that they are being scammed, and the agency is committing fraud. Every single collection agency in existence has numerous foul comments posted about them all over the web, and people whine to the FTC, the Attorney General and even the Police Department. A majority of the scams that take place in America are through e-mail and from criminals overseas, and stupid people fall for it. Same thing with telemarketing scams...and then people just automatically assume debt collectors are trying to defraud them as well. Stop whining and pay your bills. You know exactly why we are calling and if you don't then you would be able to prove it and the matter would be cleared.

COLLECTOR, because they are whiny a$$ debtors! C'mon, you know better than that! Listen to them and their ignorant advice they give eachother..."Make them validate the debt" "Buy yourself some time"...they are looking for ways to stall on paying their bills. It makes them feel better to come here and call us scumbags, thieves and liars. I dare ONE person here to post proof that you were indeed defrauded by this company or scammed. That does NOT mean we called you and attempted to collect a debt. It means you were literally defrauded. Let's see some proof that we took money from you that you did not owe. Nevermind asking us to prove ourselves, lets see some proof to back up your claims. Otherwise don't trash a company because your mad that you owe them money. Why Google a company that's calling? Grow a you know what and answer the phone. Take care of your obligations. What in God's name is someone going to do to you over the phone? Furthermore, you cannot believe what you read on the internet all the time. I have NEVER seen people consistently whine so much and try to place the blame on everyone else. If it's a wrong number, call back and have it removed! Cripes. Is it that difficult? If they are harrasing your Grandmother by calling her for a bill she owes then either help her pay the bill, or help her write a C&D letter. Why come on here and whine about it? Pay your bills. Period. Your creditors extended you a service on a condition you would repay them. You defaulted on the contract and now you suffer the consequences. You are responsible for the debt until the day you die unless it is discharged by bancruptcy or paid. There is no magic 7 year rule that erases your debts. PAY YOUR BILLS. Stop demeaning and degrading us and like Collector said, get a job to help you pay some of your debts.

Call your phone company and demand a new, non-recycled number. Or, put a privacy block on your phone. Verizon offers that to customers through land-lines, and there is a way to do it through your cell phone as well. Save all the numbers that call from agencies in your contact list and name them as "Do Not Answers". Program this contact to have it's own special ring tone which is "Silent", or another ring tone so you know it's a bill collector calling and don't bother answering, or you won't even hear it when they call. There are plenty of ways to deal with this. It's probably several agencies calling you. Just trying to help. Trust me, we don't want to, and hate calling wrong numbers. We want the real debtor.

It is not illegal to record any calls in any state with the other persons consent. When you call initially you are told this call will be monitored for quality and assurance purposes, and again during the call if you don't hang up the phone. It is illegal to record a persons calls in New Hampshire without their prior consent. You are really, truly, the definition of ignorance. And this is why such garbage like this gets passed around and people believe to think it's true because they don't know any better. Your best off saving your advice.

It is only illegal in one state to leave a message with a third party who does not live in the debtors home, otherwise it is legal, as long as the collector does not disclose the nature of the call or message.

Uh no, actually they are calling a number that did belong to the person they are looking for. However, you now have that number. How is that a scheme? Calling a number that once belonged to someone you are looking for and asking if they can speak to that person is a scheme? No... it's called debt collecting. You're posting inaccurate garbage and slamming a company for no reason. Cell phone numbers get recycled. Get off your high horse.

I've worked for a collection agency about 10 years ago and these people like "Special Agent" feel justified doing the dirty work of harassing people for money they don't have by simply saying, "You're a dead beats, pay your bills" he obviously has no comprehension of how money works and how it's created or macroeconomics for that matter.

Money is debt. There is more money owed than there are physical dollars to repay due to credit card companies getting money at 0-1% from Federal Reserve Banks and turn around and extort you for high interest rates and fees.

If the Law Firm of Stephen & Michaels knows the law, they should understand that attorneys who purchase evidence of debt and then file lawsuits in the name of the original maker of the debt are committing felony fraud.

These collection agencies and representatives don't understand how they are continuing to destroy Americans by helping banks and other lending institutions continue to extort money that isn't there from the American public for corporate profits and large executive bonuses.

It's was not enough that the banks have increased the financial burdened of our country via the T.A.R.P. They also need to take whatever you have left, even if its for pennies on the dollar. America is waking up to your scare tactics and financial gimmicks and they've had enough. If people educate themselves so they can understand the law, it's on your side.

It is against the law for them to loan you money through a credit card without having an EQUAL debt instrument on the other side. Due to the fact the Credit Card loan is credit on credit (The Bank's Credit) and not credit on debt or real money, what the credit card companies and collection agencies are doing is 100% ILLEGAL!

All competent jurists know and understand that to have standing to sue in foreclosure of a debt, the holder in due course must be in actual possession, not theoretical possession, of the actual instrument of debt.

If your credit card company does not have this document, it has in fact transferred the debt instrument to another party, the Law Firm of Stephen & Michaels in this, is working a fraud by attempting to collect without right  fraud.

Unrepresented Party and counter claimants have a right to know the real party in interest. Where attorney or law firm has purchased evidence of debt, then brings suit in the name of another, the attorney or law firm has committed felony fraud and has also likely engaged in champerty.

Pursuant to 15 USC. § 1692 (g) (4) Validation of Debts, if you have evidence to validate your claim that the attached presentment does not constitute fraudulent misrepresentation and that one owes this alleged debt, this is a demand that, within 30 days, you provide such validation and supporting evidence to substantiate your claim. Until the requirements of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act have been met and your claim is validated, you have no jurisdiction to continue any collection activities.

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1692 (g) (8), as you are merely an "agency," or board, acting on someone else's behalf; this is a demand that you provide the name of the original "principal," or "holder in due course," for whom you are attempting to collect this debt.

Special Ed I mean Agent, the way I see it is if I owe a friend 20 dollars, then I am not going to pay his 3rd cousin what I owe him or even a portion of it. If the original creditor wrote me off through their in house collection department and sells me off to another, I may if I have the funds available make an offer to pay the debt. If it is within a reasonable time frame. The problem is now there is thousands of these so called "Firms" collecting very old junk debt. If I were to pay this debt to one of these junk debt companies I would not benefit at all by paying the debt. My credit has already taken the hit and I have learned that I do not need credit to live my life. Instead of paying for these old debts, I use the cash to buy and pay for the things I need and want now. The way I see it is if I can't pay cash for it then I don't need it. If all consumers would do that, then guys like you would be out of business and be back to hating yourself like you did when you were in school and no one would play with you.

You should have yourself covered with temporary disability and matching insurances on your credit card debts, which 99% of them offer for $1.00 per month per $100.00 on your balance. When you opened these accounts and took money or services from these creditors, they did not have a forbearance option. They want their money which is rightfully owed to them. What's so wrong with that? Having hard times is not an excuse. When you borrow money or lines of credit, you need to have a back up plan if something goes wrong. You should be going to your State or City Officials for help with your situation.

How do you afford the internet and PC you are on right now?

What people don't like is creditors aren't just taking it on the chin like they were before...
