- Annoyed and tiredI have received several calls from 866-679-9649 and asked them to remove my number from their database since I am not the person they are looking for. At least once a week I go through the same thing again.
They are a collection agency that buys unpaid debts which have all ready gone to collection. Since I have never done business with the company they are tring to collect for and the person they keep asking for is not me nor do I know them I just blow them off. I wish they would honor my request and stop calling my number though.- Caller: Stephens and Associates

- Wolf BlitzerThey are still hard at work. I have found that answering the phone in Japanese works quite well. Look, these people have absolutely NO intention of actually taking you to court, unless the debt is huge, in which case they wouldn't have bought the account. They deal in fear...fear that they can ruin you. It makes no difference whether or not the debt is even enforceable, they will try to get you to believe it is. These companies pay pennies on the dollar to try and get money that may or may not be owed. They make their money off of people they can cow into believing that they can take you to court, blah, blah, blah. They don't make money taking people to court...they make money off of recouping their investment and making a tidy profit. Do with them as you will. BTW, don't you love all the zombie debt collector shills' posts?

- AnonymWhenever a phone call comes on my phone that says caller unknown, restricted number, unavailable, etc., shows up on my phone I answer in either Japanese or Korean. Seems to work well.
- MAFcouldn't understand person on the line
- friend replies to sounds ligitWrong... they are a scam from get go...they have share all kinds of information of mind with family members and even my job. They say that they are going to serve papers if you do not pay on a loan you never took out, and then they start screaming at you when you start to ask questions about it. They said they cannot send any documents veriflying you owe to you by mail. By law if you request this information in writing and want copies of orignal documents showing proof they have to furnish this to you. I have already turned evrything over to my lawyer and they are contacting the authories to have papers served on them for Scamming.
- melissa replies to Houston PryorI just reported them to the cfpb..there website to file a complaint is:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Linda replies to AlfalfaI tried that. According to them they do not have to prove that you on this debt. You have to prove to them that you do not have this debt.
- fxl90xOK, about two months ago, I foolishly replied to an email supposedly from Publisher's Clearing House. I was told I won a million dollars. I then stupidly filled in a form that included my name, address and phone number. I have been getting calls like this ever since then. I guess these scam people sell names like mine on a list to other would-be scam artists. It was my fault that I fell for this trick. NEVER supply your name, address, phone number and God forbid a credit card number to anyone over the internet. I kick myself everyday!
- Intheknow replies to COLLECTORIt amazes me that "Collection Agencies" run and hide, then RESELL the "debt" when asked to validate the debt.
When the collector buys the debt the original contract is paid. So collector, SHOW ME THE CONTRACT YOU HAVE WITH ME...VALIDATE THE DEBT......FOLLOW THE LAW....
AND THE COLLECTORS VIOLATE THE LAW ALL THE TIME.....IT OFTEN IS HARASSMENT.
IT IS STUPID THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN SPELL HARASSMENT CORRECTLY. - Anonym replies to debba doA lot of people do "pay their bills" unfortunately for some this little thing called LIFE happens! You become unemployed, your spouse or child become ill and you have loads of medical expenses, etc...... And here you go getting calls from uneducated, unorthodox people like yourself. Hey, I, a college grad with an exemplary work history, you think I can get job pestering people for money they obviously don't have?.......
- Been there replies to Virginia LadyBTW_ If you're debt was cleared by bankruptcy RECORD THE CALL!!! You can sue them and collect. I've been there. My lawyer settled for $1500 PER LETTER they sent (less his fees - I got $1000) Contact your bankruptcy lawyer with the recording.
- Gail replies to COLLECTORSome people lost their jobs, for no fault of their own; or the were injured on the job and cant work now, but have lots of bills they cant pay. So i suppose that our bad luck makes it OK to harass us and make things worse? I hope you never have any bad luck, like getting fired from being a collector, or slipping at wok and your rotten collector boss fire you. BTW, most "collection" agencies have "bought" debt from credit card companies and the like for a small percentage of what is owed. They then try to collect the full amount plus fees and make a million dollars or more. So WTF??? Get off your high horse and i hop you have good luck the res of you life....
- Lydiathey keep calling for somebody else they say they're going to send the police to my house and serve me with a warrant for my arrest only problem is I don't know anybody any money I don't even have a credit card

- FedUp replies to Concerned citizenThese people are a total joke! No lie, I actually got a call from them trying to collect on a hospital bill from the birth of my daughter. First of all, I was receiving assistance at that time. Healthy start or something? Some kind of welfare type stuff. I told them that. They said I would have to provide them this info. ME! Lol. I said the hospital would have had that. They said I need to go to hospital and get the info. Yeah, I don't think so. It's your job to prove I owe the debt! So we go round and round for a few minutes....They are totally convinced they are in the right and I am totally in the wrong. Of course. That's how it always works with these collectors. Then of course there were comments made about me being on welfare and how I could simply get said info from them. But I told them I was only on it for the purpose of having my child. That's it. Not on it now. Got off it 6 weeks after. I have no contact with them and no way of getting that info now. So anyway, after arguing back and forth, I lay it on them. You ready for this? Ready? My daughter is 18 years old!!!!! Haha Haha. Yup. They were trying to collect on a bill from the birth of my child from 18 years ago!!!!
Can we say statute of limitations anyone??? How does this even happen? I figured this was just one big huge mistake. So I told them that and figured they would be like "oh, I'm sorry. Never mind. I apologize." But no! They actually continued! And tried to get me to give them more info. Holy cow. You've got to be kidding me. I informed them of the law and eventually hung up on them. I received no further calls on that bill. I just started receiving calls on more bills unrelated to that issue. I have no intention on paying these bills at this time though. I'll maybe make some payments to THE DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS DIRECTLY when my disability gets approved. But never to a collection agency. Ever! - Jim replies to COLLECTORIt is a problem when you are calling and being rude and name calling and making threats take the f-cking person to court like the rest of america and stop harrassing people! You people are harrassing 80y/o people just because you think they might know who you are looking for. No one derserves to be cursed at and talked down too!
- AlyThese people ought to get their act together before they pester someone incessantly. Like is the person you are after still alive even? The person they have pestered to death used to live here, but passed away in 2012. It took them 3 years to decide to harass this person? I called to tell them that and they wanted all kinds of information from me, but when I asked a few questions they wouldn't answer. So fine. No more info from me either except that the person died and to never call this number again.

- Rose| 1 replyThey called this morning, they said they will send the Sheriff to my home because I haven't paid my credit card.
- Caller: scam
- MJG replies to RoseYou are NOT warned the police (or a summons) is coming.
If they call again, demand WRITTEN proof of the "debt" that is MAILED (post office) to you. Otherwise this sounds like a scam to get money from you. - MPJCalled my company issued phone number. Hung up as soon as I identified my job position.
