Its a bogus #....its fraud. They take money out of your account in small increments at a time so you don't notice. Luckily i caught in time. If you call the # it just says go to website to contact them. Totally fake. BEWARE!!!! I called my bank immediatly b/c none of those charges were mine.

I just noticed this, too! I was charges yesterday (3/26) for $1.03!

Noticed the phone number, googled it, & found this. Seems like i'm definitely not the only one. I emailed my bank about just now. Any pointers? Are they going into through my iTunes account? Because I just disabled my card so there's not card on file at this moment for my iTunes account.

There are two charges on my card with this number on them. It is the number for the Itunes music store. I got this charge on my card, but its because I made purchases on Itunes.

Itunes will put a $1.00 hold on your card before they put your purchase through, to make sure that your card is active. I have two because I made 2 separate sets of purchases. I have never had an issue with this. If you do, you should go to the apple website and check out their section on billing help. It will tell you all about their hold policy.

After a few days, the hold was released, and instead of the $1.00, there was the amount for both my purchases. No more than I ordered. . . It seems everyone else has had an issue but not me. Apple has always worked fine for me.

I called too, got a message as well. I was real skeptical. The automated answering service said "Thank you for calling Apple" then directed me to the website for support.

My thoughts, I'm thinking someone is just using Apple's automated attendant on a bogus 1-800 line to make people think it's Apple when it's just a front for a scammer.

When I pressed "0" hoping to speak to an operator it automatically disconnected.

I rec'd (3) bogus charges for 99.99 each on my debit card on 5/22, 5/23, and 5/24.  These charges were submitted by the ITunes APP Store, at 866-712-7753.

Got a charge of $ 99.99 on my credit card on 5/30/11 from Apple iTunes 866-712-7753.  There is no record of this charge on my Apple iTunes purchase history, or that of my wife.  I called the number and was not able to speak to a person.  Instead I was referred to the (legitimate) Apple iTunes website.  This is clearly a scam since we do not spend more than a few dollars at a time on iTunes.

Story continued...   Had to cancel my card.  My Credit Union will reverse the charge and issue a new card.  I suppose that is what to do in this this case:  a real hassle, but necessary.

Some how someone from this phone number got my CC.  1700 dollars later I'm in a fraud dispute with my CC company.  All charges were reversed but it's so frustrating.  I almost never buy things online to prevent this sort of stuff.  What the heck.

I just reported two fraudulent charges to Chase Visa for APL*ITUNES: $11.79 on 6/18 and $44.18 on 6/23. There were no earlier charges for a smaller amount as others have reported. These charges were right after last month's statement cutoff date and are visible on our online account under "recent activity." Our iTunes accounts clearly show no activity under "Purchase History." Had to dispute the charges with Chase, then cancel the cards and get new ones. We do a ton of online and in person charges, at least 60 per month, so we have no idea from whom or where our info was stolen. Chase was very polite, and we've long been satisfied with their customer service, especially today!

YES, i GOT HIT BY THESE CROOKS ALSO, they took two $45 charges on my debit card and overdrawn my account.  fortunately I check my account online daily and closed the card and reported them to my bank.  from reading all of these, they have been at this for 2 years, notes starting in 2009.  I am so angry, I am a senior and do not have $90....I do not have an itunes account.  they are no longer doing the $1.00 fishing, they just go right in and take much more.  I HOPE THEY GET CAUGHT SOON!!!

Just this morning was looking at my DiscoverCard acct online and saw 2 charges, one for July 10 for $43.87, another for July 13 in the amount of $41.91.  Went into my iTunes acct and saw no transactions in it for anything other than what I purchased.  While I was still signed in to my iTunes acct, I called DiscoverCard and as I was speaking to them, the rep said she saw "another charge coming in as we speak," which was for 35 something dollars.....  So, my fraudulent charges seemed to only occur when I signed in to iTunes (a good reason to BE SURE TO SIGN OUT OF ITUNES WHEN YOU'RE DONE!).  Oddly, although I have $90 in credit sitting in my iTunes account from a Gift Card, that has not been taken....just my credit card info....DiscoverCard has been great, will be reversing the charges, but wouldn't say "for security reasons" whether or not this is a well-known scam when I asked that question.  So, I Googled "APL *ITUNES (name as it appeared on my DiscoverCard recent activity) charges" and found out this scam has been going on ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2008?????  How come the FBI hasn't put a stop to these guys yet?

The fact that you say this is the number for the itunes music store is odd - I had a charge of $82 referencing itunes with this phone number today, and called the number. I got what many others got - a recorded message that refers you to a website that doesn't exist and then disconnects. When I called the real Apple store at the 800 number given on the authentic apple website, I was able to talk to a human, and found out that 866 number is not in any way affiliated with the apple or itunes. So I don't see how your charges could be related to itunes. Doesn't make sense, Nessy.

Mine appeared immediately after a short trip to Santa Cruz, so I think I used my debit card at a place where some shady character made use of it.

I had my bank cancel my debit card and issue a new one, and had that charge investigated as fraud.
